Linar, in his western position, hears Garroth approach the orcs from the north. The orcs seem oblivious to the minotaur's movements.

Garroth follows the tracks as carefully as he is able. He soon finds the temporary camp of eight or nine orcs. They haven't heard him yet.

Garroth takes a breath. He needs a plan now.. if he asked nicely would the stand in front of him shoulder to shoulder so he could get them all with his spell? He doubted it.. they were dumb Orcs, but they weren't that stupid..

A plan... he was pretty cut up and covered in blood.. maybe he could use that to his advantage..

Garroth looks around... hoping the others are in position.. trusting Thoreau to deliver the message..

He looks west he could smell elf over there.. hopefully Linar and not Van...

He signals then points to his Bow and then points to where Linar should be and then touches his backpack..

Then he takes of his robe an datashes it, revealing his bare bloodied and wounded body...

He then groans and stumbles forward into the small cleaning using his heritage and appearance to his advantage , and says in Orcish.. "Help me! Wild elves are after me! Close behind!" and limps and stumbles to the Orc's position.. (he will sell it as best he can, banking on the fact a Minotaur speaking Orcish complaining about elves will be seen by Orcs as a potential ally and not a foe.)

(OOC: the next intended part is below, but will see how it plays out and how the Orcs receive him.)

When in place next to the Orcs, he touches his backpack in the same spot he did before hoping that one of his friends took his queue..

As soon as the arrow strikes his backpack, and all Orcish eyes flit to the archers position, Garroth will loose his burning hands on the gathered Orcs in an attempt to surprise them. He is fairly sure the spell won't kill any but he is banking on the fact it will weaken them to the point that it will only need a single arrow to finish each one..

Pretending to be a group of (silent) wild elves, Linar tries the Quick Draw shot.. using elven movement between the 1st pair and second pair of shots.

"That fool is going to get himself killed," Boyd mutters. Then he stows his bow, hefts his lance, and moves up to support the others.
Once the fighting starts, Boyd will charge in and look for a likely target.
"No matter where you go, there you are."

[well, this should be interesting. Actions and initiative please]

Garroth sends Thoreau away to deliver his brief message. The elven cat finds Linar and conveys it simply, Shoot pack…

Meanwhile the minotaur removes his robes and stumbles bloodied into the orcish camp. The group is so lazy and unsuspecting of trouble that they only notice the ranger when he is practically in their midst! They give a start when he rambles about elves and attack, and a few look around. The apparent leader glances at the newcomer’s rough condition, then down at the raw turnip in his hand. With a hungry grin he tosses the vegetable aside and reaches for his axe!

Before any of the others can react, arrows begin streaking into the camp! Four longbow shafts rip through the air, but none of them strike the orcs! While the attack doesn’t do any damage, it does take the attention of most off of him for the moment.

[In their current formation Garroth could get 3 orcs in burning hands spell at most, but he would have to be close to them. If you want to attempt that, roll damage]

===
Meanwhile, back on the road, the rest of the group continues on slowly, looking for any sign of conflict or ambush. With everyone watching so closely, Van luckily spots a streak of something in the distance as it clatters to the road 100 yards or so ahead. Whatever it was is small and obviously came from the woods to the west side of the road… perhaps an arrow of some kind…

(Ooc: The Orc was going to try and eat me? Of all the ignominies ... Orc tucker!)

(Burning hands is not a tactical advantage here... it would wound three, not killing any..)

Garroth screams in Orcish.. "Elves... I see one!" and stumbles into the camp pulling his bow from his shoulder and shooting two arrows back at trees near where the arrows were coming from..

Shooting at a tree near Linar..

Arrow shot at tree.. [1d20] = 4
Arrow shot at tree.. [1d20] = 15

Linar says loudly in elven, head hopefully hidden in the folds of his hood, "Orc reinforcements!" and then with elven stealth moves 60' in an arc around the orc group moving slightly away from them, and definitely away from Garroth, before dipping back into sight of at least one of the orcs.
He then fires a single arrow at an orc before moving round another 60' again using elven stealth.

Garroth unlimbers his bow and fires two massive arrows into the trees. Our of the corner of his eye he catches the apparent leader speaking quietky to one of the others and giving directions. Three of the orcs break off into the trees ro the south. The other orcs begin firing in the same direction as the minotaur, one arrow striking Linar's cover uncomfortably close.

Linar shouts in elven, then attempts to move unseen through the woods. The orcs firing prove oblivious to the movement, and the drow watches a group peel off from the camp [the three mentioned above]. He makes his way around, poppinb up to fire. Unfortunately the leader seems to spot him and is about to cry out when the Drow's arrow strikes him in the chest, knocking him back with a groan.

[The rest of the group can hear the sound of shouting, but not the words]

It seems our scouts have engaged the orcs.

Boyd charges forward, now that it is clear something is happening. his mount quickly closes the distance and he can see commotion in the forest and hear the sounds of orcish and elven shouting. 40 yards into the brush he spots a group of 4 or 5 orcs along with Garroth firing onto the trees

[Initative please, actions for next round from all, incl Van and Boyd]
====
cover was for the tree Linar is behind before moving

O2 fires a shortbow at Linar (AC 6) who is under 3/4 cover (-7)
Thac0 19 vs AC 6 (-7): Need nat 20
Orc2 firing on Linar's position [1d20] = 4, [1d6] = 3, miss

O3 fires a shortbow at Linar: Need nat 20
Orc3 firing on Linar's position [1d20] = 9, [1d6] = 4, miss

O4 fires a shortbow at Linar: Need nat 20
Orc4 firing on Linar's position [1d20] = 15, [1d6] = 2, miss

Linar moves in an arc, away from cover.
Wis check (-2) O1, O2, O3, O4 [1d20] = 2, [1d20] = 19, [1d20] = 19, [1d20] = 14
O1 sees him!

Linar fires his longbow at O1 (+2 piercing vs hide armor)
Thac0: 19 vs AC 6 (+2): need 11 or higher
[1d20] = 19, hit!
for [1d8] = 7 dmg
O1 is Hurt Critically!

Garroth drops his bow and uses Burning hands on the five Orcs firing next to him.

He does [1d3+2] = 2+2 = 4 damage to them.

Initiative for burning hands:

Burning hands Initiative [1d10+1] = 6+1 = 7
