Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
In the scene before the group moved out
Whisper looked about at the mention of a large black insect made of metal. 'Has my familiar grown or changed form from what it was? I thought it nothing more then a mere child's hand toy with the ability to cast the spells mend and message.' The young mage thought to himself quietly as he tried to determine what the priestess was referring to. Remembering where the trinket had been placed Whisper reached into his ingredient satchell to search for it, hoping to feel the unmoving legs of the trinket poke his searching hand. While his thoughts were squarely focused on the possibility of the Lorian token morphing he mumbled his answer on which option he would be pursuing regardless of the rest of the group, "My task is Lomag's complete destruction, I shall be going to meet this messenger that can aid me in locating him."
[OoC] Can I grab some clean sheets of paper and or parchment? Maybe something to write with too? I'll need a proper spell book at some point. From the Lorian Beetle familiar description I had pictured in my mind something child toy sized and not volkswagon beetle sized. I can't imagine the PC being able to walk down main street with a lumbering car sized metal beetle following behind and him being able to remain alive and in possession of it for more then 5 minutes. AC 9 and max HP 22 = quickly dead robbery mark. If it is very large would a certain priest of Lor want it or is there a room in this abandoned complex that he can get it into and tell it to wall itself in and wait for the next Lorian to come along? Self preservation far outweighs treasure for this character, with his secondary skills money is just a matter of time and a marketplace. Let me know so I can delete it from my character sheet if it is too large and dangerous to be in ownership of.
In the current scene of some odd house somewhere in the world if Whisper is there
Whisper will stay in the back and not act with a charm person spell ready.
If Whisper is not in the current scene of some odd house somewhere in the world
Whisper has a good look about trying to figure out what was next for him....

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Whisper is in the safehouse with Karlene and all others.
Karlene suggests he goes upstairs and deal with whoever is in the bedroom, 'busy' in the throughs of passion while she goes to see to the prisoners below.
The familiar is small and the size of an apple in proportion.

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Whisper will follow in the wake of the others around him with a charm person spell at the ready if they act. If they do nothing then he follows suit.
Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Whisper, Azonia, Sarancen go upstairs.
They open the door to the first room on the left, slowly and stealthily. There's a slightly fattish man who is busy plowing into a youngish girl, who is neither attractive nor ugly but somewhere inbetween. 'Yeah you like that don't you, you dirty little slut' he croaked, beads of sweat running down the side of his face.
The girl notices you and calls attention to the fat lover, who scrambled for a whip that was coiled on the wardrobe, 'who in the hell are you!?' he asked incredulously, grabbing his whip as if it were something special. 'you look like mercenaries' he said.

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
"Indeed we are and we would like to finish up the job as quickly as possible." Whisper spoke up when it appeared that neither Sarancen or Azonia would.
Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
The fat man sneered at Whisper, kick-shoving the whore toward you with surprising strength. Azonia threw a javelin that pierced the man deeply. Sarancen plugs him with a crossbow bolt that pierced the mans throat and sent him crashing through the window, plummeting to his death below. You notice two vicious looking mastiff's begin tearing his corpse to pieces, frenzied by the smell of his blood.
Azonia looked at you crossly for a moment, 'you should have blasted him with some of your magic. Go with Sarancen and clear the other rooms, I will wait downstairs on the main level in case something goes awry. Make sure no nook or cranny goes unchecked!'
Sarancen 'come on'
All the other rooms checked and are totally clear. There wasn't anything much of use in either of them, either.

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
"Throw some clothes on yourself. Be quick about it or you'll suffer the same fate as that idiot." Whisper told the woman and he watched every movement she made, uncaring if the slut suddenly developed a sense of modesty and wanted him to avert his eyes. While she busied herself with dressing Whisper patted himself down to ensure his belongings were all there and that she hadn't obtained anything from him. When a moment presented itself that she was not watching him he removed his families signet ring from his ring finger and placed it into a small pouch of sand amongst his spell components. Any other obvious displays of house Altradeus would need to be similarly stashed away if possible to keep a lower profile but that could wait a few more moments. When Sarancen reported that nothing was found he asked the man to keep an eye on the whore and walked out of the room. With his back turned to the pair he removed the beetle from his satchell and asked it to have a look about the second floor for hidden things or traps before doing the same thing on the main floor below them.
[OoC] When they entered this building was it straight away through the magic portal or did they land outside the building and have to walk a bit to get to it? I'm trying to determine if they saw the mastiffs or signs of them on the way in or if they are a new thing and the PC should raise an alarm before uninvited guests come flying through windows to cut them all to pieces.

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
The scarab sprouted wings and buzzed away like a modern day drone might, except far more fluid and agile. Then you discovered you could see through its eyes and hear what it heard.
It came back with a leather pouch it retrieved from a floorboard in the attic, disarming five traps surrounding the pouch. Contained within are: an agate, an amethyst, a diamond, a pearl and four rubies, 50 platinum pieces.
The party materialized in the interior of the safehouse.
The mechanical insect also found a book containing what appeared to be plans, heists, and other such things it also had plans and maps drawn with detailed notes.
Some of the notes read:
01: I've dispatched a runner to Karnak for reinforcements, he has a ragtag bunch of brigands in the ruins of Zarn nearby. They are extremely good at what they do, they may prove useful. I sent the runner back, I need orcs and some of that cheap fools ogres to keep the slaves in line. They've gotten cross with me, need some true terror in their souls.
02: I've ordered the fool courier to disguise himself as a wine merchant, as he's a bit of a drunken sod that should be the perfect guise. Spying on Karnak's activities will be useful if the architect is to elevate my position in his organization.. Fortunately the sod has some skills and experience with delivery of important parcels, and a track record of evading even the most persistent enemies. He comes highly recommended. Even journeyed through the dark elf lands many a time.
03: the Watcher's attempted their first try to have me eliminated. Unsuccessful, and I captured the bastard alive. This dark elf Zyn is good, he slaughtered a batch of my finest guards as if it were effortless.'
04: I abducted the duke's agent! He is a prize. He could slay my entire army without trying. I wonder how much he is worth!"

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Whisper removed the diamond and pearl from the purse and placed them into his satchel along with the partially repaired amulet from around his neck. Returning the beetle to the satchel he asked it to again try and repair the amulet now that the two ingredients it had indicated were required had been obtained. Closing the container, Whisper returned to the room from which the man had learned that he could not fly. He began looking for writing samples to compare with those in the book. The fool who was greatly impressed by his ability to defocate in large quantities did not strike the young mage as the writting and plotting type so he was hopeful that the dead man had penned these notes rather then a third party that had not yet been accounted for. Catching Sarancen up on what he had found and what he was doing, "Found a few baubles and this book of notes, that is all. Let me verify that old dog food was who wrote it before we head down stairs to the others."
[OoC] With the upper floors cleared I'm ok to move back down a floor to Azonia and maybe the others on the main floor once the PC can confirm one way or the other about the notes in the book.

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
vs. INT: failure Whisper studying the writing and analyzing it for a few only comes to the conclusion that he doesn't know whether it was the guards or not.
Whisper: you walk downstairs just as Karlene, Idrys, and some new folks arrive...
The whore, who was possessed of a bodacious, ample set of breasts and a womanly body scoffed 'you jealous or something?' she giggled stupidly. Sarancen sighed then threw a cloak around her 'cover up, wench' he said, then turned to Karlene 'we found her upstairs pleasuring some fat piece of orc dung. He drew a whip on us and me and Azonia peppered him with bolt and javelin. He went crashing out the window and some mastiff's out in the courtyard tore his body to pieces as if they haven't had meat in some time'
Azonia 'ah, you found the prisoners you were seeking I see. Good work. Though I distrust you, dark elf. Watch yourself or you'll find yourself dead fast'
Zyn didn't say anything.
For some reason when Whisper's eyes fell on the drow and the big bellied elf it triggered some sense of familiarity. But nothing solid, just a sense of comraderic nostalgia. You remember fighting alongside a drow named Zor and an elf named Valtor who also had a goblin slave as this one does. However this one seems more benign and less evil than you remember the other one to be. This dark elf seems less talkative and outgoing as Zor was.
Karlene: "No, just aware of the cost of keeping secrets," replies Karlane. "You choose to keep yours." She is careful to mention no names nor give much away in front of the uncooperative nude.
She turns to Azonia, "I believe he is not typical of his race in ethics and deeds. I suggest measure him on his deeds."
"Whisper, I will be back within 10 minutes. And then we can talk. Rest of you, control any prejudices, no fighting each other."
The priestess faces the nude girl again, "Girl, come with me," and looking at Idrys adds, you too. Just you."
She walks towards the portal, activates it and steps through with the girl and Idrys, crouching as she does so.
======
Idrys does as bid, curious to see what his sister has in mind but trusting to her judgement.
If the cloaked nude resists, he will force her to comply with escalating force as necessary. (Hand on arm; arm twisted behind back; both arms pinned; subdued and hoisted over the shoulder. Screaming gets a punch in the stomach or back

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Azonia scoffed at Karlene, 'you are young and naive still, priestess. While I have spent more time on the front lines protecting the southern realms against his kind, who are skilled in duplicity, deception, and murder above all else. You should know best that Elsmyere is the sole reason that Nyr has never been invaded before by what fell things sprout from the belly of the cursed dark elf lands'
Zyn 'worry not, woman. I am no threat to you or any here who do not pose threat to myself. The priestess is correct, I am of different heart and mind. I came to the surface of my own volition, to study and understand this peculiar world you inhabit. I was a lord whence I came, I may prove useful ere long'
Valtor: "I vouch for the dark elf, he is worthy of the honorific of being my bodyguard, and can attest to his character. He's a bloody fool but good with a sword and knows a few tricks. If he steps out of line I will blast him with my magic, all of his resistance to it will have faded from the sun if my calculations are correct, and they usually are'

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Karlane returns with Idrys, boots wet, and no sign of the cloaked girl. She pauses and visibly concentrates for a moment while silently changing the password to the salt bogs.
She look around to see no sign of fighting or bickering and thinks, ~Good! Indicative of professionalism in the face of differences.~
To all assembled, Karlane says, "We do not talk in the same room as this," as she points at the teleporter portal.
Indicating Garosh, the priestess requests, "Please would you stand guard over this," as she indicates the portal, and then beckons everyone else into the kitchen.
She tells everyone in the kitchen, "It is possible to eavesdrop through the portal. We tell Garosh later, and then turns to Zyn & Valtor, " Please would both of you search the ground floor for anything hidden or interesting that we may have missed?"
When Zyn & Valtor are about their task, whether in the kitchen or not, Kalane addresses tose that she entered with, "Whisper, what happened upstairs? Did you look for, see or find anything interesting or untoward?"

Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
I guess this happens while Karlane was "out"
"Both of you strike me as familiar, am I the same to you?" Whisper asked of Zyn the drow and Valtor the elf. The young mage was happy that bits of his past memories were starting to firm up, the spy between jobs had been a key part of that but she was oddly missing. "Did Drusilla pass away during your travels in the floors below? This book here states that orcs and ogres may have been brought here to test some captives and keep the rest in line. Was that so?"
[OoC] I'm content to wait/pause actions if needed, he has no want or need to go poking about. Hungry dogs outside, orcs and ogres below. No thanks!

"The upper floor and this floor have been searched. Found this ..." Whisper tosses Karlane the book that had been found. see posts above for the contents of the book
Re: ** Part I: Fire and Ash **
Speaking of Drusilla, she walks in through the front door with an exhaustive look, accompanied by two mastiff hounds who seem to be placated. She had a basket full of herbs and vegetables.
Valtor arched a brow when asked by Whisper, 'afraid not lad, doubt we've crossed paths fore I'm rather new to these lands. Valtor's the name, mighty in spirit and terrifying in power. Treat me with excellence and you will gain no rancor from me, but cross me and you will rue the day we crossed paths' he tweaked a mustache with a little bit of earwax, chuckling, 'my porter, Stoops. Though lately I've changed his name to Turd, he seems rather fond of taking enormous ogre sized deposits, the little bugger! Heh heh. Rest assured young man we encountered no such things as ogres or such below'
Zyn snickered 'Aye, you are not familiar, how could you be when I only arrived in the surface a bloody month ago? I am formerly a drow lord now houseless vagabond. Nothing but sword work for me. '
