Liri slides her feet out of the stirrups, then stands on Casta's back to take a look over the fence, ready to drop back into the saddle if she sees someone with a distance weapon in the courtyard.

[Jenara]

"Weapons." Angel mutters, drawing her short bow, an arrow notched as she directs Praesul towards the gate with her knees.

[Lol. Hazel?]

[Jenara]

Standing on the saddle, Liri is just able to see over the wall into the courtyard of the villa. It appears deserted, and is in disarray. There may have been a battle inside.

Hazel is a half elf mage thief from The Fall.

[Breila]

Liri drops gracefully back into her saddle, picks up the reins and announces: "There is nobody to be seen. And it looks like there has been a battle."

Ari rides up near the others, Tha dead can be rather still if'n they like. Still be wise tae move wot caution, eh? He says, heeling his mount slowly forward to take a closer look. He keeps his warhammer ready amd watches closely for any movement.

[Jenara]

"Then we enter slowly, watch each others backs." Angel dismounts from the charger and slides her blade from its scabbard before opening the gate.

Ari dismounts, keeping his warhammer ready, and helps her unbar/open the gate.

[Stik]

Up close, the condition of the gate is even worse than it appeared from afar. There are dark smudges on it which might be dried blood, and numerous scratches and dents. Near the joint between the two leaves are gouge marks and dents from a ram, and the one of the leaves has a definite twist to it.

The gate stands firm against a light push, though, and it takes considerable effort to get it to move. After some hard pushing, there is a clatter inside and the gate opens a foot or two. The reason for this is apparent when looking through the gap between the two leaves: after the gate was forced open, someone took time to build braces to keep it closed, although their work was done poorly and without much knowledge of carpentry.

The courtyard inside the gate is a mess. One wall, at the left side of the yard is stained with soot, as is the ground beneath it. The gravel courtyard is still wet from the earlier rain, but the rain was insufficient to wash away blood stains and even bits of gore in several scattered locations. Various household goods are scattered about, but notably absent in the chaos are any traces of food or any weapons other than some broken arrows.

The courtyard is deserted, and there are no bodies to be found.

Ari is able to slip inside easily and disassemble the brace holding the left leaf closed, to allow the others to enter.

He waits for the others to join him inside before examining the scene more closely.
Ne bodies... he mutters grimly. Consumed by them walkin'... things, mebe... or worse... turned inta them... The dwaf switches to his maulm ready to crush some skull like walnuts if need be.

[Jenara]

Blade still drawn Angel turns to Praesul, taking the Axe as she does so.

"Watch them, keep them safe." She presses her head to the horse's speaking softly. "Make sure no harm comes to them." with that she enters the courtyard, her Elven eyes scanning the windows. "Consumed, or turned? Either way we should fear them."

[Breila]

"And where are the people who tried to repair the gate?" Liri asks after following in, leaving Casta in Praesul's care.

[Jenara]

"Exactly, I hate feeling like I have half of the picture. All the while Salia is stuck there with that... animal." She growls.
