Act 1, Scene 1: "Through the Undergrowth" (Main Game Thread)

Katten leads the group along a narrow path, hardly recognizable as such save to the rangers and elves in the group. it doesn't take long for the path to lead to an apparent dead-end, right at the edge of the canyon...

Remembering what their informant told them, Katten moves closer to the edge of the drop. There a narrow, angled ledge barely wide enough for a human slopes downward along the edge. She has to step out onto it before she can see the narrow opening into the side of the cliff below.


[Katten and the elves should be able to easily traverse the slope, and the boar may be able to without much trouble... the Minotaur, as a large creature, will be quite another story. It depends on what precautions are taken.]

[Nocturno]

"Who wants to go first?" Nocturno will ask as he peeks around the corner and down. Long sword ready just in case.

OOC: Time of day? Is there cover?

Linar volunteers, "I will." Looking at the minotaur he says, "When you follow, either be very quiet or stay 100' behind me, please."
He tries to catch Katten's eye and indicate with his head that she should come with him.

If no one objects, he slips over the edge, pausing in the shadow to listen while his eyes adjust.

"You go behind me." Katten responds in a no nonsense manner, "I check if safe, others follow. Need rope for large one." Is her response, not carrying rope she doesn't offer anything on that subject. With that she walks through and checks that the elf is still following.

elden follows trying to wispier to Van "im a smith of sorts but not like most you'v seen maybe after we finish this ill show you my craft"

[Nocturno]

Not wanting to be shown up by the drow Nocturno will follow close behind.

To Elden,

"I'm a smith too! Copper and Silver... Mostly jewelry- my family's business and all.. Part of the reason I am out here is to get more spell craft and maybe start producing magical items. Let's compare notes.."

I have rope... Send a signal when you are ready and I will climb down.. Is anyone here good at knots? Otherwise illfigureit out... If you can't tie knots, tie lots... Ha ha.

(Garroth will look for a location to secure his hemp rope.)

Garroth finds a jutting rock formation that looks strong enough to hold his weight. He should be able to navigate the ledge safely if the rope is properly tied.

Katten and Linar proceed quietly down the long rocky ledge; keeping themselves close to the wall. Nocturno follows close behind, his armor scraping noisily against the rock and clattering. Cautiously Katten peeks into the entry. It is wide enough for two abreast for the first few feet, but quickly narrows.

Anyone over 5' in height will have to stoop. Navigating the passage farther down will be difficult for those in armor, and doubly so for the large Minotaur.

"Wait here, I'll be back." Katten turns, heading back through the waterfall, catching the water in her clawed hand it splashes up and on her face before heading back to the remaining group.

"The passage ahead is small, I can stand upright, the rest of you will need to crouch, especially you Horned one." She turns her head to Van and Elden, "If you are coming, you be quiet. Goblins can be dangerous, they have big wolves." Seeing the rope she nods. "You tie this end, I will carry this through, be on your guard."

[ausie]

Garroth will look around and hope someone with the skill volunteers to tie an appropriate bowline knot... If not, he will try to do so using his memory.. [1d20] = 5

Looking at the knot, he's pretty happy with its.. and waits for everyone else to get down first, offering the rope for anyone to use to assist their descent...

Linar pushes on, deliberately trying to speed up Katten so that the silent pair can put some distance between themselves and the noisy bunch.

~After all, what's the point in being soundless if there's someone at your shoulder that keep chattering. And the armour should slow down the clankie,~ he thinks.

Nocturno will try to keep with-in sight of the pair, knowing he will be the best bet to be in front if they encounter a large group.
