Pyros said:
"Oh I thought you were going to make it interesting!"

"I am in! Winner rolls?
The gathering quiets down at Pyros' comment.

Znot grins. How much were you thinking? We can each take 1 toss and compare... just to make it fair...

"One steel, one roll?" You can see the excitement in Pyros' eyes.

OoC: Now no other character I played before would probably do this, but I'm pretty sure a Kender wouldn't worry about currency. I was going to say he would just pull a random object from his pockets, but he does understand others like currency.

Steel, eh... he mused. Alright! Any of you other lot want to bid on a winner? he asked, obviously referring to himself. The gully dwarf throws a half steel down, as does berg (though reluctantly). Clif peeks in his pouch disappointedly. Eventually he and the half-elf match the bet... A hush falls over the group.:

Pyros has to think hard to come up with another moment in his life that was this exciting!

[Ooc: if you're getting nervous irl about die rolls then I'm doing my job right ;) ]

Everyone watches the roll intently, even those without coin on the line. The bones bounce and tumble over the uneven spread before spinning to a halt. A three and a four... Seven. The very number Pyros had called. The half-elf lets out a cheer and passes the money out. Clif happily takes his share and claps Pyros on the back again, this time actually sending him sprawling since he is still stunned at the roll.

This was the most money he'd ever won at once... the most he'd ever gambled on a single toss even. Burg starts muttering curses in goblin and drifts back to his bedroll to bunk down for the night. Znot just stares at the dice for a moment. He looks up at the Kender with a blank expression. Slowly a grin forms. You've got some steady nerves kid... I think I like you. He laughs and shakes his head at the throw then shrugs. Easy come easy go I guess.. we'll have to do this again tomorrow night if you stick around. Give me a chance to win some back. The last is said with a friendly wink.

With that, the rest of the group disperses to their bedrolls. Znot moves his back from the fire pit a little. Clif lays down and begins snoring rather loudly. Pyros' infravision allows him to see around the immediate area fairly well, although the fog from the lake has thickened significantly during their gaming. A sentry or two is on duty, as he sees them pass by through the misty night. Now that the adrenaline from the game is beginning to wane, he notices it has gotten much cooler, and damp besides.

[Total damage…
Pyros: Won 1 stp!
Znot: Lost 1 stp
Cliff: (down 6 cp) won 5sp: total winnings 4sp 4cp
Burg: (up 6 cp) lost 5sp: total losses: 4sp 4cp
Half-Elf: (down 12 cp) won 5sp: total winnings: 3sp 8cp
Human: (down 12 cp) no bet this rnd
Goblin 3: (up 12 cp) no bet this rnd
Gully dwarf: (up 12 cp) lost 5sp: total losses: 3sp 8cp]
[Visibility is about 30 feet due to fog]

Pyros will settle in with the rest, spreading out what ever he has to sleep on. When Znot looks settled Pyros will whisper to him with a wink "Not bad for trail rations, eh?"

[OOC: Glad you're enjoying it :D it's a lot nicer when the game doesn't die off after a week or two ;) For the main campaign I have more pcs than we needm so if we lose a few we can easily keep going. I also have npcs on standby if it drops off to even 1 player, but I don't expect that to happen]

As they are settling down, Pyros makes his comment to Znot. The goblin looks a bit shocked, then laughs. Not bad kid. Not bad. Although most goblins would be trail rations for old Crag too... he winks at the kender, then rolls over to go to sleep.

Pyros lays back, ready for sleep. He is a little exhausted from his long travel and the emotional excitement of the game. His mind wanders in countless, unpredictable directions as his eyes slowly close.

Hehheehe, get up, silly! A familiar female voice giggles and calls to him. He rolls over in his comfy linen sheets and pulls his pillow over his head, mumbling something incomprehensible about sleeping. His brain feebly tries to identify the speaker... so familiar...

A bright white light fills the room... she must have opened the curtains... he thinks drowsily. Stuffing the corners of the pillow further around his face, he seeks to shut out the light. C'mon, she calls, growing just a little impatient. You'll sleep the whole day away... Pyros tosses fitfully and moans in protest.

Pyro... the delicate voice is thick with genuine concern can't you help me? The plea hangs unnaturally in the air, and a red light replaces the white. A sudden chill breeze blows in with the scent of copper in the air.

The kender discards the pillow around his head, and it takes a moment for his eyes to adjust to the bright light. Streams of white peek through the red-stained linen curtains, as if someone had splashed a bucket of red dye on them. Is Tendrow redecorating...? Turning to the source of the voice he saw his beautiful young bride... her dress matched the curtains and she had her delicate hands pressed to her middle, while red dye spilled out onto her pale yellow sundress.

If you hold the dye sponge like that your dress... he began, but his words died on his tongue as he took in her pale and pained face. Tendrow! He cried with concern, moving to her. She stepped rapidly away from him, towards the window. Why didn't you help me? she pleaded, heartbroken. Where were you? I needed you! she began to cry pitifully, leaning against the open window.

Pyros began to move to comfort her, but she threw up one red-stained hand and shouted Stay back! Shimmering tears welled up in her bloodshot eyes... You should have saved me... she whispered. Slowly, like sap seeping down a tree, she fell forward out the treehouse window.

Without thought, Pyros dove after her into the misty morn. The fall seemed to take forever, and an ever increasing fog obscured his falling bride from his sight. The cold wind rushed by him, causing a shiver down to his soul. He vaguely wondered when they would hit the ground, and then he saw her. Her body lay broken on a jagged granite stone, eyes starting blankly up at him in disappointment. He rushed to meet her, and the stone embraced them both.

Starting awake, Pyros shook off the sleep with some effort. He lay in a pallet made of his blankets and clothes, his head on his pack. Working a stiff shoulder, he discovered he had been sleeping on rock that was not quite flat. Cold, damp morning dew penetrated his clothes as his blanket had been fitfully cast aside during the night. The fog from the night before seems to have lifted somewhat.

[Pyros gains 1 stp. Typically I award xp after sleeping, but since it was such a short 'day' I'll roll it over to the next one]

OoC: Money and XP are being taken care of by you in the OP right? I am usually the PC who takes inventory of everything we do, so this is new to me, but quite a bit more fun to not have to track everything.

Pyros will lay still for a few moments to listen to what is happening around the camp. Mostly to clear his mind, his eyes, and to remember exactly where he is.

Once he is aware of where he is, he will look around for Clif and Znot.

[Ooc: yeah, I'll take care of equipment, money, hp and xp stuff and update the op. I'll also make notations in the game thread when I make changes to it.]

Pyros lays back onto his makeshift bed, listening to the sounds of nature. A thrush calls, a rustle in the grass from the breeze, a woodpecker sounds his stacatto rythm... wait, there aren't any trees... He finds himself in a dewy valley of purple blossoms near a lake... the same lake as before. The grass is overgrown, much taller than the night before, and there isn't another soul for miles.

A heavy mist lies in a wooded thiclet not far below him. It is clear he is not now where he went to bed...

Pyros will come up to a crouch and roll up his bedding.

After that he will stay low in the grass, and closely look around.

If he does not see anything suspicious such as movement or humanoid shapes, he will pull out his map. And then head to the shore of the lake.

Cautiously he rises half-way and gathers his makeshift bedding into his pack. Remaining low, he scans the surrounding area. Everything is quite different from the hilly valley he was in yesterday. Thick forest surrounds him nearby, and the grass and shrubs are much higher, creating a thicket around the lake. The lake aline remains unchanged. There is no sign of the camp, or anyone from it.

Cold, crisp morning air makes him shiver a bit and consider throwing on an extra layer...

Pyros will definitely put on another layer he hates being cold!

He decides it is not cold enough for mittens yet, but will dress in his warmer clothing.

Once dressed up, he will move cautiously to the lake.

Pyros hauls out one of his cloaks, and it seems to do the trick. Approaching the lake, he sees that it is indeed the same, though he didn’t get a very close look at it last night. The water ripples gently with a breeze, and it seems a peaceful place. The purple flowers give off a pleasant perfume.

The sun is just beginning to peek up over the trees to the East. Pyros checks his map, but the landmarks have all changed, and it appears useless now.

[ooc: sorry I overlooked the map thing earlier… I’ve been doing all my updates by phone from out of town, but I’m back now]

[OoC: All good]

Pyros will refill his waterskin with fresh water.

Then look for high ground. Not sure what is happening he will try to stay mostly hidden in the tall grass.

Once at the high ground, he will look for any kind of path/road.

Rolls for Direction Sense, and Survival, if they need to be applied.

1d20 → [20] = (20) 1d20 → [18] = (18)

[Ooc: Well again, I should be in a fight!]
