Obviously. Though I thought your little "steel for memory bit" was hilarious

Re: WotL OOC Thread II
That must be why your character's wisdom score is so low... he has imparted it all already

Re: WotL OOC Thread II
So what I want to do is crouch down so that their attacks go over my head, then creep past them silently. I however can't see anything in the rules about any of this (full defense while invisible? moving through an enemy's square?)

Re: WotL OOC Thread II
To use full defense, you have to hold still, so that won't work. I'd recommend making a tumbling proficiency check. If successful, it increases your AC by 4 (and that stacks with the AC bonus you get for being invisible) and lets you move at the same time.

In other news, I'd like to announce that today is August 31st, meaning that it is the second anniversary for War of the Lance. Yep, two whole years. Although we're down to three of the original group members, we've added several new people since we started and kept the game going strong. I want to thank everyone for helping to make this game great, both the old and the new.
To show my thanks, I'm awarding everyone 2,000 bonus XP at the end of the current chapter. I look forward to seeing what our third year will bring.

Sa-weeeeeet! Now I just have to make sure Grubnick survives until the end of the chapter!
It might go better for him if he could actually hit something...
Re: WotL OOC Thread II
Yay on 2 years! It helped inspire me to try my own hand at DMing online.
Now back to the IC thread, according the the books, invisibility is broken if I attack, however it's somewhat unclear of what an "attack" is. It mentions that some spells are NOT attacks, which suggest that most spells ARE attacks. This brings up these questions for me:
Does picking pockets break stealth? (And on this note, can Haahqae see the mentioned keys on the woman's belt, or on the rogue?)
Does casting a illusion cantrip break stealth?

Re: WotL OOC Thread II
I think it's intentionally left vague so the DM can make their own judgment call. In my own mind, what makes something an attack is if it deals damage or seriously hinders (like a debuff). So I'd argue that pickpocketing and illusion cantrips wouldn't qualify as attacks.
He can't see a key, but she does have a single belt pouch on her belt, and if she has the key that would be the logical place for it. The rogue has no belt pouches.

Happy anniversary everyone.
Re: WotL OOC Thread II
Boy, after Kendra and Darga got slammed by those horaxes, I guess this time it's the other half of the party's turn to face a potential TPK. Tulbas is captured, Gregeddin and Haahqae are bleeding out...what else could go wrong?

"What else could go wrong"
Interesting question, would you like me to come up with a list?
We haven't unleashed a pure-evil deity on the world that threatens to destroy its very essence. -> I hope.
The Belzorites haven't dispatched our bodies into the water stream, causing a chemical reaction which poisons the whole city.
It's not the middle of a thunder storm.
We haven't killed any gods of hope or justice (yet).
So yeah, things are going pretty well, right?

I agree with the gnome...
I can't believe I just said that...
Hope is not lost as long as you have a pulse... which means Haahque's character can remain hopeful for about 1 1/2 more rounds...

Re: WotL OOC Thread II
Just a quick question about your combat notations since this is Grubnick's first battle. Does the [TN xx] stand for something like 'needed to hit'?
I only ask (respectfully so, i might add) because in yesterday's post, a 15 hit
Histachii 03 moves 5 feet southwest and 5 feet west. It swings its right claw at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 19, hit for (1d2): 2 damage. It then swings its left claw at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 15, hit for (1d2): 2 damage. Finally, it bites at Gobax in hide armor (+2 hit) [TN 16] (1d20+2): 10+2 = 12, miss. Gobax is now moderately wounded (75% HP).
But today 15 missed (the 16 hit, though
)
Histachii 03 swings its right claw at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 16, bare hit for (1d2): 2 damage. It then swings its left claw at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 5, miss. Finally, it bites at Gobax in hide armor (+2 hit) [TN 16] (1d20+2): 13+2 = 15, bare miss.
Or is there some other modifier I'm missing...
