Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
"Well," Jasmine says. She stands from where she was sitting and stretches a bit. "I guess I should make myself useful. Does anyone want to come with me to check out these south wing rooms?" she asks with a friendly smile.

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Ishan waits around outside for he clients but quickly grows impatient hearing Zurgo and Jasmine discussing the barmaid Sera he had just assumed that she had moved on to find better work, but with the quill missing at the same time he starts getting a bad feeling.
He decides to go talk to the mage instead. On the way he hears Jasmine mention checking the south rooms, maybe he'll make his way down there after his chat with the mage. Upon arriving at the room he looks around at the various mystical objects, "I don't believe we've met sir, though I have see you around the inn but if you don't mind me asking what are you doing in the province in the first place, there must be better places to search for uhh....... arcane secrets, while there isn't a war right now the wilds and even the roads are dangerous even a skilled mage would be in trouble against several war orcs or.." he looks around for Benjamin "sneaky Drow."

Pleased to see the petty insults have died down, and with the majority of his breakfast now sitting in his stomach, Kanock pipes up, "Ay Jasmine, I'll walk with you to check t rooms, but we best make this a leisurely pace." He makes his slow start towards the bar to return his bowl before plodding towards the southern rooms, knowing Jasmine could catch up easily.
Kanock hadn't worried about leaving conversations early for a number of years, to get a head start on where they were going, tall people and their fast legs...

Gaheris looks the dwarf over, then shrugs. "Okay, I'll check the rooms upstairs then, just to be thorough. Keep a sharp eye out, kitten," he says to Jasmin.
He then heads upstairs to search the open rooms there for any sign of the missing maid or anything else worthy of note.

"Oh," comments Benji softly as he finishes examining the cup, "And here I'd just figured out what this concoction was. Guess no one gives a rat's arse." He moves to the window, looking out and checking for the orcs that had woken him up in the first place.

"Always," Jasmine says to Gaheris. "And thank you, Kanock."
She walks along side the dwarf towards the south rooms. "Oh, you're welcome to join us Benji!" she calls out over her shoulder before disappearing down the hall.

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Jasmine and Kanock (Spare room in south wing)
Kanock is quickly followed by Jasmine as they move to search the spare rooms in the south wing. The doors for all the rooms are closed, but a quick test to see if each door is locked narrows the search down to the two rooms that are unoccupied. The search ends just as quickly as it began, since in the first spare room they check, one near Mazzart’s Kanock notices a maid tied up, gagged and asleep on the floor behind the bed.
Jasmine makes a perception check to search for Sara (1d20-2): 7
Kanock makes a perception check to search for Sara (1d20+1): 11
Ishan (Mazzart’s room)
Ishan enters the room to see Mazzart trying to get a book back onto the top shelf of one of his bookshelves. He attempts it twice, then failing he mutters a couple words and levitates, making the task much easier on himself.
When Ishan start speaking Mazzart notices him, but doesn’t seem to register what he’s said right away, “Oh hello there, are you also searching for my quill? That would be grand. Thanks.” Mazzart floats to the ground to pick up another thick tome, opening it he flips through a few pages before looking up again. “Oh, right, you’re questioning why I came to this backwaters province and staying in an inn instead of a nice comfy tower in the middle of the empire? Well those mages in their comfy towers are doing all they can to pursue arcane secrets, but it’s not like they have a chance of finding a real live manticore back there. They’re treading over territory thoroughly researched by other mages, while I’m striking out into new territory full of wondrous discoveries just waiting for someone to discover them. If that means I need to lodge in some backwaters inn in a slightly dangerous territory, so be it. That’s why I created a golem to accompany me.”
He motions towards a golem standing near the back of his room, its rocky body almost blending into the wall behind it.
Gaheris (Upstairs)
With the others searching below, Gaheris decides that searching upstairs would cover more ground, so he ascends the stairs to see what he can see. His search is not very fruitful, assuming that he’s looking for a maid, or anything specifically interesting, shiny or valuable. What he does find in the unlocked rooms are well maintained rooms, with comfortable looking beds and relative quiet, since Mazzart’s yelling seems to have ceased for now, and he’s far enough away from the common room for that seemingly endless source of chatter and noise to be almost not heard at all.
Benjamin and Zurgo (Common Room)
“Nope, no one gives a rat’s arse about how you poisoned who.” Alex mutters softly, still actively ignoring Benjamin.
With the majority of the conversation done and so many people leaving the common area, Benjamin and Zurgo can hear clearly across the room two of the other guests talking. “So tell me again why there was a run-down school of magic in the valley in the first place? I never really figured that one out.”

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Although enjoying the momentarily peace and quiet, Gaheris finds nothing worth reporting. He decides to return to the common room to learn if the others have learned anything yet or had any better luck in their searches.
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Surprised to find Sara plonked in the middle of the floor, Kanock moves in a hurried fashion to check her medical state, he breathes to Jasmine, "Find and get the others, Ichabodd n particular. Hurry!"

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
"What? You found her?" Jasmine says in surprise as she follows after the dwarf for a moment. She doesn't know if the girl needs medical attention or not, but she hurries out of the common room. "Gaheris, we found her. She's out cold and all tied up."
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Kanock (Spare room in south wing)
Kanock examines the girl on the ground. She looks ok, save for a few bruises and some rope marks. It looks like the majority of her injuries are from struggling against her bonds after she was tied up, although there are one or two marks that show she didn’t go down without trying to fight. Kanock can determine that she’s been tied up here for a number of hours, and her sleep seems to be caused by natural causes. It is likely that she discovered she wasn’t able to get herself free, it was late at night, so she fell asleep.
Kanock checks Sara for any injuries (Profession Nurse) (1d20+5): 21
Jasmine, Gaheris (Common Area)
Gaheris reaches the stairs to the common area and notices that Jasmine has returned to it, and she describes the details of Kanock’s discovery while he descends the stairs. Ichabodd hasn’t returned from his own search, so one of the other patrons of the inn went off to deliver the news.

Gaheris follows Jasmin back to the room where the unconscious maid was found. "Well, I suppose this means she isn't our thief," he mutters, mentally crossing off his prime suspect from his list. "Can she be wakened? We should question her."

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
"I would suggest untying her first," Jasmine says as she stands in the doorway.
Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Gaheris, Jasmine and Kanock
What results is a bit of a mess. Kanock bends over Sara to bind her wounds*, Jasmine joins in to unbind the ropes and Gaheris attempts to wake her to question her. What manages to wake her in the end is unknown, but it was probably Jasmine moving her legs around to a place where she could untie them.
After a bit of a slow start as Sara slowly became aware of her surroundings, she remained confused as to what was happening. “Who are you? Where am I? Oh, I’m still here, good. Are you tying me up? No, you’re untying me? What’s the dwarf doing?”
At this point Gaheris (or anyone else) is welcome to ask her questions, and I’ll answer as quickly as I can.
*Ok, she doesn’t really have any open wounds to “bind” per say, he’s mostly massaging bruised tissue and checking for internal bleeding, which thankfully he doesn’t find.

Re: The Quest of the Missing Quill
Benjamin overhears the other events on the stairs quietly before heading to hear more about some sort of magic school. It wouldn't normally interest him, as a bard, but today seemed auspicious. He listens in more closely, trying not to tip anyone off that he's doing so.
