Searching the ship

[Stik]

"Aye, captain's quarters should be above de - Kay - no chest! Danger. - above deck, in the stern castle, most likely. There's better ventilation up there, and he can avoid rubbing elbows with the crewmen."
Martin looks for any gouges in the woodwork that might be indicative of a hook-handed occupant. (If he sees such, he will inform the others of this.)
"This bird talks. I wonder if we ought to interrogate him."

[Breila]

Martin does indeed find scratch marks close to where the lid meets the body of the chest, like a hook being used to open the chest by a not-too-sober man.

If Gustas decides to taste the brew in the jug, he will notice that the taste isn't that great, but the alcohol content is high enough.

[Jenara]

"We both had the same thoughts master Drake." Brax comments as she searches the room for anything she might offer the bird (such as nuts or seeds)...

"Cider?" She asks with a raised eyebrow, "There is only so much one can do on ship, is there not." Grinning she looks at Gustas. "Check the chest, it might have food for the Parrot.. I'm guessing they are like every creature? Fed is happy?"

[Stik]

"This being our hook-handed executive officer's quarters, that would make this the hook-handed executive officer's parrot. And parrots are smart. Smarter than some people I've met. Which means that the parrot is culpable - an accessory, really - after all, the parrot probably did nothing to stop him, did he? We offer him immunity and that might be all the leverage we need to make him sing like a canary.
"We ought to take him into custody. Best take care, though. Watch your fingers and toes. And nose. And ears. Parrots bite through nutshells for a living. And they have a vicious streak a mile wide.

[Jenara]

"Did you find some herbs below? Or perhaps a blow to the head." Brax replies quickly, "Its an animal, it has intelligence but no more than most creatures.."

"I do think we take it with us, I am loth to leave it here. It is a living creature who should see Pelors light." Keeping close to the cage she waits for Gustas and the chest.

[Stik]

"Don't listen to her, bird. She knows not what she speaks. I know you're very smart, aren't you?" says Martin to the parrot, conspiratorially.

"Best we keep him secured, Radiance. Bring him topside and he might fly away on us. Besides, we might use him as leverage against Lefty. After all, sometimes the hardest heart has a soft spot for an animal."

"Kay - if the chest isn't locked, please do the honors of opening it, will you?"

[Jenara]

Hushing softly the half elf takes the cage in her hand lifting him slightly and judging the reaction.

[Breila]

The parrot extractes its head from under its wing and screeches "pieces of eight! pieces of eight!", then flutters its wings to keep the balance as Brax moves the cage.

[Jenara]

"Pieces of Eight?" The cleric asks hefting the bird in interested. "He keeps saying that.. I assume it is a he, something tells me that is the case."

"Could it mean coins? I assume Pirates would care for coins.?" She adds, looking quizzically at the bird

Gustas tips the apple-y contents into his existing vessel and laughs, "I reckon we should get the parrot drunk to get the information it's hiding out of that beak."

[BishGada]

Kulop had already opened the chest, hiding no warning from Drake. Obviously he instinctively searches traps and tries to avoid them. While looking at the contents he absent minded say, "The bird might be referring to numbers that divide eight. Or sets of tools. Maybe it can say other things..." lifting his eyes he ask it, "What's your name?"

[Breila]

When Kulop opens the chest, sees finds only clothes, worn and smelly.

The parrot only screeches as the cage moves, it does not seem to pay attention to anone's words. when Brax steadies the cage again, it calls "pieces of eight, pieces of eight" again before settling down.

[Jenara]

"Interesting.." Brax comments as she holds the cage above her head, looking at the base with interest. "Would it be possible to hide something in here...?"

Her keen elven eyes and long fingers search the cage then set about scanning the room.

Search for hidden doors: 1d6=1 pass.

[Breila]

The cage is just a simple cage, Brax is certain of that. But when she searches the room, she notices a secret door in the wall to the stern.

Placing the cage down on the desk her face lights up. "Gustas, would you be so kind as to aid me?" Striding over to the other side of the room she presses lightly on the shape of the door with her hand.

"Perhaps this is where the items we are looking for are located."
