Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Gregeddin hurriedly whispers "That pit trap might be our best bet, and the T junction between this tunnel and their toilet. If we set up back where we came from, I reckon we have two possible plans. Firstly, we could try and trick them into all falling down the pit, preying on their stupidity.
Or alternatively, we have our big and strong fighters waiting in the toilet while our ranged fellows are waiting on the far side of the pit. I'll come screaming down the hallway with a torch, getting the beasts to come out. Then I'll take a right and do my best to go around the trap quickly. While they follow my torchlight that gives the toilet hiders the opportunity to either slay them from behind or push them into the pit."
Gregeddin catches his breath and glances around his companions. "Personally, I prefer the second one. Sounds like a good laugh and relies on our own strength rather that their brainlessness."
He waits for feedback from the others

Darga nods and whispers, "All o' ya kin go back ta the tunnel behind that pit. I kin get them ta follow me, and I'm bettin' I'm quicker than they'll be. When ya see me runnin' yer way, then ya kin know that they'll be comin' along too."
Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
"I would just toss the torch at their beds to wake them up faster. But none the less, we should act quickly." Haahqae moves back over to the north side of the doorway and prepares to take down the cantrip once everyone else has passed by.

"Well, I am not sure it really is a good laugh, but I am open to the second plan," she says.
Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
The party quickly and quietly slips past the illusionary door once again. At that point, Bear, Kynaston and Coroccoco take their place in the bathroom where the dead slig still lies.
Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Haahqae taps the pocketdoor and it quickly folds back up into his hand, he appears to adjust it and puts it into one of his pockets. He then makes his way back to the intersection, carefully skirts around the trap and pulls out the pocketdoor again, adjusts it some more and places it on the ground behind him. This time it appears like it's a triggered pit trap, blocking his "escape" from the sligs.
(Haahqae takes down his first illusion cantrip and destroys it, moves to the 2nd sqare left of the intersection then casts a new illusion cantrip on the 3rd square left of the intersection, appearing like a triggered pit trap.)

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Darga follows the others quietly to ensure that he knows where everyone and everything will be. Looking in satisfaction on Haahqae's illusion, he mumbles, "Looks jus' like the real thing..." Once everyone is in place and ready, he nods. Before he can start to think about the foolishness of what he's about to do, he takes his walking stick firmly in hand and sets off back towards the slig barracks.
Upon reaching the doorway, he starts muttering as if talking to himself and wanders in, looking about in what he hopes is a confused manner. Upon "discovering" the room's inhabitants, he gasps audibly and freezes for a moment, as if in panic, before turning and running from the room.
(OOC: Darga is doing his best to assume the appearance of some random gully dwarf who wandered into the mines, looking for a likely home or stuff to scavenge (not a stretch, I hope!). His intent is to get the sligs to follow him, hoping for easy pickings. If I need to roll a proficiency check or something similar, let me know.)

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Kendra moves to the far end of the pit, as according to the plan. She pulls out her bow and arrows, and takes aim for when the creatures come charging. She has to put her lantern down to do this.
Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Gregeddin also moved down to the far side of the pit. He sets down his torch and readies two knives.

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Darga is noticed almost immediately by the awake slig. It leaps to its feet and shouts something in a language Darga does not know--but it sounds like the Goblin tongue.
The slig grabs its spear and gives chase. The other three sligs--the sleeping ones, rouse in confusion, and are so a little slower to react.
Darga runs back up the corridor, the first slig giving chase and the other three further behind. Despite the Aghar's bragging, he is NOT faster than the sligs. Quite the opposite, they are about 50% faster than he is, due to their longer legs.
This means a couple of things. First, Darga must move at double speed or risk being overtaken by the first slig. Second, he won't have time to carefully cross over the pit trap. He'll have to risk jumping over it.
When he turns the corner, he tries to remember exactly where the real pit is hidden and jumps for it. Luck is with him, as he makes a perfect three point landing on the other side of the real pit, right at the edge of the fake pit.
The first slig comes around the corner after him, but becomes confused by the pit being in the wrong place, the light of Kendra's lantern, and the sudden appearance of more intruders. His reaction time is too slow, and before he can skid to a halt, he tumbles right into the real pit trap, dropping twenty feet before hitting into the bottom with an audible thud and a cry of pain.
The other three sligs are right behind him.
===========
Darga makes a STR check to jump over the pit [14] (1d20): 1, pass. He makes the jump.
Slig 01 makes an INT check to realize the pit trap is in the wrong place [9] (1d20): 17, fail. Slig 01 falls into the pit trap, taking (2d6): 8 damage.
(OOC: Darga has a MV of 6, where as a slig has a MV of 9...so anyway, actions and initiative? Make sure to specify if you wait for the remaining sligs to get into position or not.)

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Haahqae folds up the fake pit, draws his bow, takes a step forward and turns to face his hated enemies with an arrow knocked. "Dumb gobbies don't even know a pocketdoor when they see one."
(Haahqae stops concentrating on the illusion, moves one square to the east, draws his bow and readies to attack the first slig to come in sight.)
(Is my init my bow's init? In that case it's 1d10+7 = 17)

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Gregeddin is relieved to see darga come flying out or the shadows in a massive leap. Though he can't see the pit,the thud the murk produces satisfies his imagination. He waits with his knives in his hands for the other things to emerge.

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
Once he recovers from the effort of the leap, Darga turns back towards the sligs, walking stick in hand and ready to attack if they dare cross the pit.

Re: CH. 2: Bear in Mine
The party on both sides tense up, waiting for the sligs to arrive.
The first slig turns the corner and skids to a halt at the lip of the pit trap, surprised by the light of Kendra's lantern. It throws up its hands to shield its eyes. Bear then comes running at full speed from behind it, roaring. The slig throws itself against the wall just as Reaver comes down and chops into the rock, leaving behind a large cut in the ground. While it's distracted, Gregeddin throws a pair of knives at it. But as the creature is just outside of the lantern's light, he has trouble aiming properly. Neither knife finds its mark.
The next slig arrives, and does like its companion--it skids to a halt and holds up its hands to shield itself from the light. Now it's Kynaston's turn to charge. He runs full speed, his shield out. With a great force, he shield rushes the slig, knocking it head over heels into the pit with its brother. "That's two down!" he cheers.
The final slig arrives on the scene, skidding to a halt at the sight of Kynaston and Bear. Before it can react, Coroccoco comes charge at it. It turns to face her just in time for her to kick it, hard, right in the genitalia. It shrieks in pain and looks about ready to vomit up its lunch.
Meanwhile, Kendra and Haahqae nock their arrows and start to fire at the slig that Bear attacked. Despite not being able to see too well in the darkness, Kendra gets lucky. Very lucky. Had she any real faith in the Seeker gods, she might think they like her. Both arrows hit vital spots. Haahqae misses his first arrow, but his second one manages to finish the slig off. It drops to the ground, unmoving.
