A fresh start

(OOC: Entertainment? that's new to me, what do you have in mind?)

(OOC: Amon mentioned the idea of hiring a minstrel or something for music.)

(OOC: He could hire Martin! Hahahaha!)

(OOC: That was already addressed, don't you guys remember? Amon brought up the idea of having music at the party, and Martin then immediately offered his services, mockingly calling Amon "Lord Pyrrhus," even though there never was a Pyrrhus of Epirus in Greyhawk.)

Amon walks over to the house where Evgeni and Ludmilla, a brother and sister who have provided entertainment in Saltmarsh since they came there from further inland a few years ago. They are practising juggling moves in their courtyard. Ludmilla in particular seems to be quite happy for an excuse to take a break and smiles at Amon when he approaches. After he states his request, she answers:

"How nice you ask us to entertain you, now that the whole town is in uproar about the jester that arrived, yes, and who runs around telling everyone he will be hosting a big show tonight. So you want a private gathering on your father's boat, yes? I think since most of your guests are not from town, you will like us to do some of the old tales and ballads, yes? And do you want me to dance, too?"


(OOC: will any of you specifically invite Geraldine to the boat party?)

"That's correct," Amon says, offering to pay them decently for the event.

Ludmilla is all exited about the evening and the nice money they are going to make, and her funny accent reminds Amon that she's travelled far and wide, she might know a few useful languages.

So when the evening comes, Amon is installed as host on his father's boat, and Gunter and Searos arrive carrying a small barrel, followed by Kim. Brax and Vee arrive shortly thereafter, as does Echo.


(OOC: Jaded, your turn. Tell us about the boat, and the food, and what have you...)

The vessel is anchored at the docks, with a plank allowing entry to the deck. Most of the ships the Couslands own are simple fishing boats, only about thirty feet long and six feet wide. This is hardly enough room for a decent soiree. So Amon takes efforts to secure one of the few cargo ships the Couslands own, which is seventy feet long and twenty-five feet wide. It's an unassuming vessel known as the Skylark. It has two masts, although the sails are down as the ship is only docked and not ready to travel. It also possesses a small sterncastle that can provide some shelter should the weather decide to not cooperate this evening.

The food prepared is mostly seafood, as this is a fishing town. There are shrimp cocktails, crab legs and salted cod. There are also a number of sweets, including frosted sweet rolls, strawberry shortcake, and little minced pies. Amon also took the liberty of arranging for some apple cider, should anyone decide not to partake of Gunter's brew. A couple of lit lanterns are set about, to provide enough light should the moons and stars be insufficient tonight.

(Flashback, posted by Jerrard, Jen is having a little blip.)

Brax goes back to the inn, grabbing the black dress, the spiderweb pattern haunting her, another life looking back at her.

Shrugging that off she folds it up and carries it reverently back to the dressmaker, like she is carrying precious cargo.

"This is the last i have left of my heritage." she says when she gets to the dressmaker, "It was made far below the earth, from the finest silks. I need someone else to take it. If you don't want to give me any money i will understand. Could we at least swap this for the other dress."

Once that is dealt with she goes to see Gerry.

"There appears to have been an oversight, we all assumed you were coming tonight, yet no one has asked you. So I am inviting you now. And anyone you wish to come." brax smiles.

[Breila]

Chiara is overwhelmed when Brax brings her the dress. "Oh by all the Gods, what are you bringing me! This is something I could never use for anything, it's so fine..." She holds it against the light, examining it all over. "Are you really, really sure you want to give it away? It is immensely precious, but I can't give you anything for it, I don't have the money really to pay for it and I will never be able to sell it to anyone else."

When Brax assures her she really wants to give it away, she looks around in her room, then she begins to giggle. She puts the dress up on the wall next to the window, where she can draw the window curtain over it to hide it. "This way, I can enjoy looking at it, and when someone comes who is afraid of spiders, I can hide it quickly."

She gives Brax a quick hug. "Thank you. And you can take the dresses for you and for your friends in exchange."


When Brax invites Geraldine, the militia leader gives her a friendly smile. "Thank you for the invitation. I will come, but only for a while, because I have been invited somewhere else. And to preserve the peace of this town, I must be seen as impartial."

[Jenara]

"Mistress Echo said I hang onto my past, perhaps I should let it go now.." Brax returns the hug uncomfortably, despite herself she was unused to the contact.

"Tell me, would you know Miss Echo's size? I would like to buy her a dress, a peace offering? We do not get on well, this might help." She asks extracting herself from the hug, seeing the look she is given she just smiles and nods. "No, Miss Soulstaff would not order from you, I understand."

"Another engagement? Interesting, I wonder where you could be going that requires you to be impartial?" Brax grins, giving Geraldine a knowing smile, "Give Drake my regards."

With that she heads back to the inn and gets changed ready for the party, giving Vee her dress too.
