Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (This is the Game Thread)

Desolate and abandoned, the evil alchemist’s mansion stands alone on the cliff, looking out towards the sea. Mysterious lights and ghostly hauntings have kept away the people of Saltmarsh, despite rumours of a fabulous forgotten treasure. What is its sinister secret?

A broad grin creeps on Kim's face. "After you, Gentlemen." A hand gesture invites Gunter and Searos to follow Vee, if they do, Kim follows them.

The back door to the house is old, made of sturdy oak. Vee's first kick makes no affect the door simply makes a dull thud.

Her second is more forceful, causing the door to vibrate, the hinges creak and groan as it swings wide.

Inside is a large abandoned pantry, shelves and cupboards line the walls, covered in a network of spiders webs, a rat scuttles off into a hole in the wall, fleeing the approaching group.

The smell of Rotting decaying food is everywhere, as are numerous animal remains and droppings.

(Track check from gunter please.)

The room is approximately 15x20ft a single door is located directly in front of the group. It appears to be of a lighter construction to the others.

"No, after you my dear." Brax says with a wink, appearing behind then, a broken tree branch in her hands. "For the cobwebs."
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

Kim raises an eyebrow. A half drow having a problem with cobwebs? Well, it might have something to do with denying all of one's heritage...

"Much can be hidden behind them.." she adds collecting a spider the size of a gold piece in the palm of her hand. "Let me get you to safety." she mutters, walking to the well. "How very interesting.. " she says on her return.

Listening to Brax and Amon, Gunter chuckles softly to himself as he slowly makes his way into the room, studying the floor and walls for signs of recent passage...

Some of the cobwebs appear newer to Gunter he can't be sure but it could be that someone has passed this way.. Jackel maybe..?

The newer cobwebs lead to the door.

Gunter sees the difference in cobwebs and rubs his beard in thought.

"Well, someone or something has passed though here fairly recently and they went through that door. Beyond that, I can't glean anything else besides the fact that this place smells like old dung from a dead horse."

He waves at the air in front of his face and wrinkles his nose. He then turns to Vee and says, "One more thing before we go any further, little one. A place as old as this is bound to have some.surprises. Whether or not you might think something looks safe is of no consequence. If we all want to get out of here in one piece we have to assume that everything in here is dangerous and act accordingly. That means no running off and opening doors or chests before making.sure.theyre safe. My grandpap was an adventurer and lost a few fingers to a trapped door once. He could have gotten them regenerated but said he'd rather just have the reminder so he wouldn't make the same mistake twice. I'd rather none of us have to make that same choice...especially you, little one."

He smiles and toussles her hair before turning to Searos.

"So, feel like seeing what's beyond this door?"

Searos peers around a bit, his lip curling at the giant freakin' spider crawling all over Brax. He jumps a bit at Gunter's question.

"Eh, wha? Oh, through that door? I guess. But if we pass through too many doors before finding treasure, I vote we just burn this damn building to the ground. Also, you would think your grandpap would remember his mistake just by paying the huge price for getting his fingers regenerated."

"You'd think...but then again grandpap was the kind of man that valued a pile of gold and a good story over a couple of missing digits...go figure. They don't make 'em like that anymore."

He motions at the door, "Well, do you want this one?"

Searos mutters something about "good thing they don't make them that way" and then goes to open the door.

"Gods above Gunter, if opening this door gets me killed, so help me..."

One again, Kim moves quietly over to the side, to be able to cast at anything coming out of the door.

"Sounds like your grandfather led an interesting life, Gunter," Amon comments while idly patting Dogmeat on the head. Unlike some of the others, he is not expecting to encounter any significant danger or trouble outside of more spiders and rats.

In Time Gunter speaks to her Vee gets angrier and angrier than, when he toussels her hair she gives a angry cry and rises her hand to slap Gunters face - but stop because she thinks about his high.

"Do - not - call - me - little - one!" she whispers between her teeth. With furious in her eyes she organize her hair new.

She listend the conversation between Gunter and Searos, but she really want to seem very disinterest to the door, but when Searos goes near to the door she watch him it out of the corner of her eye.

Brax stays back, watching Vee's reaction, she says nothing but keeps her hand on her holy symbol.

As Searos goes to the door, it creaks but opens slowly, the sound filling the room, light floods in from outside, revealing what was obviously the kitchen.

It is dirty and damp, with patches of grey mould and a few cobwebs on the floor, walls and ceiling. In the corner to your left is some iron cooking equipment with a chimney above. Next to it, under the window, is a cracked and discolored stone sink.

To the right of the sink a small, closed wooden cupboard is fixed to the wall about 5' above floor level.

There again is a single door infront of you, it is of the same construction as the last one.

Dogmeat huffs, then begins furiously scratching behind his ear with his rear paw.

Amon looks around with a mild look of disgust on his face. "It's clear nobody has used this place for many years," he comments. "My father is right, they should have just torn this place down ages ago." He walks up to the new door and turns the handle, gently pushing it open to see what is on the other side.
