"Name's Shay," he says to the wizard, but he does not extend a hand. "Guess we can sit and catch our breaths and have a bit, but we should stay alert, too." He leaves his lantern in the middle of their little makeshift camp, but he keeps an eye on the next tunnel, in case anything decides to try and sneak up on them.

Seeing that Shay is alert, Babushka tries to divide her attention between the fungus ladder, the passage into the next cavern, and the map Locky draws. She then tries to determine their present depth underground and gives it to Locky. 1d6=1

This done, she packs up. She looks at the pipe that watered the snagworts, examining the craftsmanship and and mentally compares it to gnome work. Coming back, she turns to Jerrard. "As you probably know, Locky and I can see well in the dark. It seems reasonable that we go first, because we won't alert creatures as easily as we would with lantern light. I saw you are an exceptional archer, you could give us full cover even if you stay behind us. Locky, do you still want to go first, or should I do it for a while?"

Is the opening to the next chamber, the chamber itself and the tunnel entirely natural or worked upon?

Jerrard shrugs "Archery is part of my old life, that of a solider, those shots were lucky, but the compliment is accepted never the less. I can create light if the need be, however, your plan shall suffice."

He looks to the Kender fidgeting on the ground, her eyes moving constantly.
"Now Locky, we need you to go ahead, but you need to look and watch, none of this running ahead and getting caught, after all how interesting would getting killed be?" Seeing the look he gets he carries on, "So do you think you can go ahead with Babushka?"

Locky looks curiously at the newcomer, "Who is he to order me around?" She wonders to herself, she hears the words "Go ahead" "interesting" the rest she understands, it just doesnt seem relevant right now.

"Isn't this fun? I can't wait to see what's at the end of the cavern, you say you heard water? Maybe a waterfall?" You can see her itching to go on.

Babushka determines they are thirty feet underground. The watering pipe is clearly not gnomish design, as it's not covered in useless bells and whistles that serve no purpose. So far, the entire cavern up to this point appears to be natural.

Babushka gestures to Locky to take the lead, then follows. A little more closely this time, ready to shout out warnings as she scans the way ahead with her infravision. She has her sling ready with a stone in it, the rest of the stones ready to grasp in her jacket pocket.

Locky starts to run ahead, then she glances behind her, seeing the mage she slows down.
She'll move ahead as silently as she can, keeping herself hidden.

She'll stop at the exit from the cavern and look at what she can see.

Babushka follows Locky in a few paces' distance. She too tries to move silently and to hide in the shadows.

(ooc: Is this how two percentage rolls should be done? (1d10=10, 1d10=2, 1d10=1, 1d10=2) , makes 02 and 12, two successes. /ooc)

At the exit, she stands next to Locky, gently puts a hand on her shoulder and peers ahead as well

Jerrard follows close behind, an arrow ready, a spell in the back of his mind.
He keeps a close eye on the Kender and (assume Shay is watching the rear?)

He checks out the Plants and the cavern as he moves.

Shay, with his lantern, take the rear, allowing the men to have some light and the ladies to use their infravision without any problem.

The tunnel they are in snakes a bit for about twenty feet before dropping precipitously down to a lower elevation, falling about thirty feet through a very narrow channel. There is no gap on either side of the water, and only about two feet of clearance in the channel that is not filled with rushing, gurgling water. On one side of the tunnel there is a round wooden indentation, like a door, and on the other side there is a small keyhole.

Babushka cocks her head: "Hmm, doors and locks, definitely not my area of expertise."

Nevertheless, she looks closely at both the door and the lock. Perhaps her second-hand gnomechanic experience can give her a clue on the functioning of the door? While still inspecting, she turns to the others:

"You know what, I think these creatures with the three-clawed feet are either mounts or intelligent monsters, to have built this here. The door here gives us an idea of their maximum size. Oh, Jerrard, can you tell us if this (she gestures at the door and keyhole) was created by magic or is magically operated?"

Jerrard shakes his head, "Alas I do not have that spell ready, however nothing I have seen at this point suggests magic has been used...." He looks at the keyhole in interest, knowing however the kender may be a better bet.

(Locky):
Locky's face lights up at the sight of the door and the keyhole, without thinking she retrieves what she thinks is the right lockpick and sets to work: (Find remove traps: 34, Open Locks: 20). She whistles to herself as she works.

With an audible click, the round wooden door swings open, diverting the waterfall through a side channel. Looking down, they now see that the waterfall had concealed a wooden-runged ladder, apparently formed by natural growth of roots, leading down the cliff face where the waterfall normally flows.

Shay kneels and examines the ladder. "Not bad, kender. We should be able to climb down this without any worry. It would have been tricky with the water in the way, though."

Babushka climbs carefully down, looking down ahead, wondering how all these plants grow without any light. She uses one hand only, the other one keeping her sling ready.

Shay follows after the gnome.

At the bottom of the ladder, Babushka finds another keyhole in the wall. The stream (and the tunnels) splits into three pathways here. One to the south, one to the east, and one to the west. All three tunnels bend after a few feet, so nobody can see where they lead or what might be hiding down any of them from this vantage point.
