Return [To Madness]: Act 1, Scene 2

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Ke'Sha will instruct his remaining undead to go through the portal, then look at Drommacus and Allakhain and say "Let's go." and will go through the portal.

Stephen takes a minute to recover from his leap through the portal. Then he slowly makes his way around the room, paying specific attention to the temperature of the pendant he wears under his shirt. “Master Jagrinder, Master Brasspick said he saw the snake people go through a secret door back here behind the statue. Do you think you could find it?

“I will go investigate the secret door.” Axid replies, as he recalls what the lizard man was doing when the door shut.
You are talkin' to the holy symbol wearing,
Ruby ring wearing, kiss stealing; Woo!
Praying/healing, beholder riding, griffin flying
Son of a blowgun, and I'm having a hard time holding these Aboleth shoes down! WOO!

"Likely we can find it. I am a bit concerned with the stress on the life force our physically inclined members endured." Jag not having the spell needed to help is concerned with helping recover their strength.
"Does anyone have some magic available to help reverse the effects?"

Jack chimes in. "It does not feel so great." He will head over to the area where the door should be.

"I could help them, but it comes with a great toll. It will age both me and the recipient for any small amount of life force I'll be able to draw back from the negative plane. Given how badly both were injured we are talking about many years of aging. Maybe the goodie child at the camp, Lenna was her name? Maybe she can either help restore their life force, or help with the againg. In any case I don't have these spells at my disposal right now. I'll have to prepare the rituals and pray long for the Lord of the undead approval to channel such divine powers for that cause." Ke'Sha says in a calculated tone.

==================================================
(OOC: How many levels were drained? Ke'Sha can restore 3 levels a day and then need about another day to recover the lost spells. He will also age 2 years/ level restored.)

"I've heard the toll is great on the caster and recipient. I will do what I can to help." Jag will also go to help look for the door in the area the snake folk left.

The threat seemingly over, the party and their undead entourage file into the new space using the portal and the bloody-transport. The eerie green light from the braziers begins to dim and Allikhain takes out a stone that glows brightly like sunlight to see (continual light stone). The magical light pushes back the magical darkness and the towering green-crystal statue in the center of the room is finally revealed. The statue itself does not cast any reflection in the mirrors... Stephen circumnavigates the room, but his pendamt does not change temperature.

As the discussion about restoring Jack and Landro begins, Allikhain nods. Yes, I suspect my most versatile and powerful spell should be able to replicate an effect similar to Ke'Sha's Restoration efforts; the key being that we must apply these within the next day. I believe the aging effects can be countered later with Potions of Longevity. I do in fact have that spell currently at my disposal, but only once today. I am reluctant to use it just yet, since it's greatest advantage is in its versatility which we might require later. She ponders a moment longer. I will agree to use it at the end of the day for this if we do not find more dire need of it today. In any event, I can prepare it twice in the morning for the same purpose. That way Ke'Sha and I can split the burden between us.

Axid and Jag quickly find the outline where the secret door was, but the Dwarf recalls that it shut after both of the snake folk had passed through; implying there may be a closing trigger on the other side. It seems likely there is a trigger somewhere on this side, but the two are unable to find it in the area near the door itself.

[Two levels each were drained from Landro and Jack]

Artist rendering of the room. The secret door is on the back right (North East) corner from this view. The mirror on the South wall lies battered on the floor from Alrius' efforts

"Hmm... when I summon a fire elemental, there is a small chance Efreet would appear, and can grant you a wish. Although they like to manipulate words, if you state it plainly enough, restoring drained life should be within the wish abilities. So I can use it also at the end of the day and these braziers here should be a good source to summon such elemental."

Ke'Sha looks around the room, then shares Gur magic detection to try to see if anything in the room glows with magic. "Well, the more obvious places to hide such switch or lever mechanism are the big green elephant.. err.. statue in the rooms, the mirrors and braziers. The less obvious places are the carvings on the walls and the walls themselves. Let's split and search the room quickly. If we get the lizard fighter before she has a change to restore her drained life force, we may be at less disadvantage."

================================================================================
(OOC: Are the ju-jus, wight and spectre intelligent enough to search for secrect mechanism? If so, it would be a horrifying visage to see he jujus using the ability to climb walls while searching it, and Mourkul hovering around and keep grmbling about his fruitless effort and dumb commands he gets.
Also, Ke'Sha suggest for hurrying up, but in this dungeon it is only advancing our TPK :)

[Where is jack searching?]

Ke'Sha considers the Braziers and determines if all were put together they are almost big enough to conjure a Fire Elemental if he puts them all together in a square and used a little extra fire in the middle, like a flask of oil or some smaller fire spell (flaming sphere, etc).

=====
The ju-jus and Wight should be able to searcn for secret doors if he gives them proper instructions. Mourkol cannot effectively search the same way as the others because he is incorporeal (the description says 'tap, thump, twist and poke' etc). He could at least try to find seams and such by looking I suppose, but it would be much tougher for him at least.

If anyone is searching for secret doors or the trigger for a secret door, please specify where. A 10x20 ft section of wall can be covered in 10 minutes.

Searched so far
-10x20 ft section where the secret door was seen (Axid and Jag)

Jack will start searching the space on the right of the door. Jag will help with that space, or search the next space over.
