Act 2 Scene 5: "Cavern of the Crown of Souls" (Game Thread)

Merrick nods as Jerry descends the rope, watching to see if he can assist with the stone. Tarlyn accepts the dagger, I will not be taken again. she says firmly, clutching the weapon tightly. She shakes her head at mention of The Wayfarer.

Seeing the others move off, Sir Karl hurries down the rope to take his place once again at the fore, where the narrow passage that leads back to the cave entrance stands darkly.

Pyros fiddles through his pockets again for anything that might help, but short of some feat of mechanical genious there seems nothing he can do with the bits, bobs andd trinkets to help.

Adran tells the group, Let me know if I can be of any help or you think my rope might be of use...otherwise, I will stand guard as we find a way out of here safely....

Meeting his eyes Jerry smiles waves up at Merrick to show all's well after her descent.

She then keeps an eye on the thickness of the strange link, possibly necromatic, between Tarlyn and the stone. She tries to assess whether it's actually weakening (and likely to 'break' at a particular range).

[Jenara]

"When this is over, I can take you there, if you like...? And you have to meet my friend Sabrina." Contiuing to do what she does best Mira chats away, she had something to focus on, making sure her arm is near she keps walking further away. "What do you do? I mean, do you have a job or...?"

[Nocturno]

Pyros looks at the thorns. Then looks at the mist.

He closes his eyes and sticks the thorns into the mist.

Merrick passes a weak grin and a small awkward wave to the waving Mystaran. Studying the misty line, it seems to thin the further she gets from the stone, but it seems impossible to tell whether or not it has lost any potency...

Mira continues to speak to the girl, who answers almost absently as she tries to peer everywhere at once, as if looking for unseen threats. My father... his farm. I need to get back there and tell him what has happened.

Pytor shrugs as the others seem to have given up on trying to destroy the stone for the moment, he follows the others to the ground. Adrestia watches as Pyros sticks his thorn-bearing arm into the mist, but nothing happens. for an instant, however, it almost feels as if the bracelet pulls the mist towards it, but with the undulating nature of the foggy stream, it could be simply coincidence...

Happy to see Merrick's return wave Jerry gives him a thunmbs up and then continues observing the misty line.

Visibly disappointed Pyros continues to swipe his hand through the mist as he hobbles along on his Hoopak crutch.

Adran continues to stand guard - does he see anything?

[alright, since no one is proposing any immediate action about the stone...]

Mira continues to lead the woman out, flanked by the Knight Sir Karl, Artanis, and the cleric Elsa. Cross shrugs and descends the rope as well. Adran and Adrestia keep watch as the others follow suit; no hazards or additional peculiarities present themselves to those standing guard.

The bard leads them back to the entrance, the room full of foreboding evil symbols. The arched exit stands with two long stalactites like the hanging fangs of some titanic earthen serpent casting ling shadows into the cave from outside. Don't worry Tarlyn, Elsa says in Elven, Once we have a chance to prepare some magical assistance, I'm sure we can take care of that stone.

(Sorry I totally forgot to reply to this!)

"We need to rest and let Elsa gain a few spells, thats the way her magic works. Once we have that we can destroy that thing once and for all." Mira agrees with Elsa, "Lets get out of here. Elsa, what are we going to do about Pyros?" As adds in common.

[Are they continuing back out into the canyon, where the other cave entrance is?]

(that would be for the best, but Mira is planning on seeing if walking away breaks the link, OR if it weaknens her. It's either draining her life force or it was and now the ***** is dead it isn't anymore. Either way she's just going slowly.)

Pyros continues to swipe at it.

When Merrick descends Jerry is there waiting to hug him. "This is a peculiarly awful place. Anyway, how are you? Are you injured?"

After he cherished moments with Merrick she checks on the condition of the others as they arrive at the bottom of the 10' cliff. [NWP Heal skill checks if necessary]
