Appearance:
Icelandic Were Wolves reside in the far northern reaches of Vastonia, usually
within cold forest or mountain regions. Their thick fur and incredible muscle
structure protects them from even the coldest winters, not to mention from most
other types of natural damage. Their massive forearms allow them to take down
almost any type of prey they encounter, with minimal effort. Their powerful
legs give them the ability to run through deep snow and up rugged cliffs as
if they were on normal ground. Cunning and clever, a good size pack of Icelandic
werewolves can easily remove a party from existence.
Combat:
When involved in a combat situation, "which is generally invoked by themselves"
Icelandic were wolves always thrash wildly, causing 1d6 damage with either claw
attack and/or 1d10 damage with their bite. Victims have a 5% chance of contracting
Lycanthropy when bitten, but won't feel any effects for over a month.
If
given the chance Icelandic Were Wolves will always attack their prey from above,
thus giving them the benefits of surprise. The have been known to pounce from
heights in excess of 35' and generally don't miss their mark. This high risk
maneuver more than often inflicts personal damage, but generally knocks their
victim's unconscious.
Habitat/Society:
Icelandic Were Wolves are far from common creatures. They live in small packs
consisting of not more than 8 individuals. They are almost always encountered
in groups of 1 or 2 individuals. Cold caverns and frigid forest hollows are
their preferred place of rest, while open wilderness mountains and rugged plateau's
are the preferred hunting grounds.
Ecology:
These creatures always avoid civilization. They never attack massive groups
of adventurers or any other organization which outnumber themselves, unless
it's a sure victory or food has become extremely scarce. On nights of intense
moonlight these strange people change into their Lycanthrope forms and run savagely
across the northern regions, brutally killing most men then encounter. However
some Icelandic Were Wolves have been known to assault victims, but leave the
painfully alive.
