The greater goddess Lolth herself presented the powerful sword to her faithful follower in hopes of insuring Sly'Tavicon promise of ever punishment towards elvenkind. Years later when the legendary elven band of warriors journeyed through Alinta swamp, they encountered Manta and his many minions, the battle was tiring but was won by Elestian's heroes. One hero by the name of Sly'Tavicon recovered Widow Maker in hopes of using it against Sly'Tavicon. The swords powers would function for him since he of a neutral ethos. Although within a short time he would loss the scimitar to Sly'Tavicon, as he lost his life in a hopeless massacre.
