Description
One
of the largest IHK's in Vastonia is the frozen kingdom of Asintine, home of
the Norse people and district of the renown Knight's of the Icelandic Order.
This kingdom is ruled by King Ghlunhiem Alymeseine, Overlord of Asintine and
his wife Falra Alymeseine. The people who inhabit these far reaches worship
only Norse gods, more commonly Odin
or his son Thor.
But still their are many who worship other Norse gods such as Frey,
Freya, Heimdall,
Loki, Balder,
Modi, Magni
and many more (for complete details see gods
of Vastonia). The people are rough and rugged, tough as nails and seem to be
able to survive even the coldest of climates without a problem. People make
whatever products are needed to get by. There are many large forests here, tons
of game to hunt and enough sea-life to feed the entire nation for at least the
next thousand years.
Major
cities include Asidia, Kanantia, Celindora and the capital city of Asintine.
Within these cities, great stone buildings have been constructed, many of them
having huge statues surrounding their entryways. Even some of the temples have
massive stone statues holding them high into the air "depicting the god's
strength and protection of the people". Other large community buildings
are made from logs and support either stone roofs or no roof's at all. General
housing consists of small log houses or sometimes stone housing for the richer
folk.
This
kingdom has some great history behind it and some equally exciting adventure
plots. If you are choosing to run an adventure within this region of Vastonia,
have a look in the scenario's section for a starter adventure called the Lost
Ruins of Asintine. This is a great adventure for a low level party.
Geography
The
furthest northern peninsula of Vastonia, Asintine rests within the great ocean
of Neyajhaun. Western Asintine is filled with lush forest and beautiful plateaus,
while eastern Asintine hosts the incredible fields of Odin and a forest of pure
birch, which resides on the edge of Asintine's largest natural lake known as
"Lake Craz". The southern region of Asintine is protected by a gigantic
forest called the "Forest Splits" which has only one main road through
it commonly called Thor's pass.
Justice
System
Laws
and punishments are very severe in Asintine, here if your caught stealing you
will definitely have your hand removed if not your head. There is no tolerance
for people who believe not in a god, even if it means praying for Loki's protection.
However, adventurers are forgiven for their ignorance and will not be treated
unkindly for their misguided virtues.
Military/Forces
In
Asintine, military forces have a whole new meaning. Organized yet chaotic, the
Asintinian brood looks more like a clan of barbarians than that of a well trained
army. The king has well over 12,000 men at arms ready and willing to charge
into battle at his disposal. If ever the time should come for war, the entire
horde can be gathered within a day and a half. The king also commands an elite
order of knights called the Icewind Knights,
who follow a strict code of honor called the Inquisitions
of the Icewind Knighthood.
