General Info About Vastonia

Vastonia, the land of chaos, as many have come to call it. Is constantly plagued by savage wars, corrupt governments, abandoned societies, and uncaring individuals. Now this doesn't mean that the entire continent is in utter turmoil, but rather gives everyone a ruff idea of what goes on within this mighty realm. Several kingdom's live in peace, most of which have constructed great civilizations and are socially exceptable to live in. However there is a large amount of kingdom's which do not run smooth. They have evil minded political figures, unstable communities and most of all leaders who seek to overrun other kingdoms, thus claiming more land for themselves. It is safe to say that with each year that passes, at least two notable wars will take place.

Being the largest of all the continents, Vastonia hosts by far the most cities, towns and villages. Although the population level's seldom exceed 20,000 individuals. Communities are wide spread throughout the land, having hundreds of unique cultures and religions to explore. These factions often conflict with one another, which ultimately leads back to the aforementioned "warring". A vast multitude of Human cultures exist as well as a large amount of Demi-Human races, giving the realm unlimited possibilities and circumstances.

The land itself is quite barren, having only a handful of regions that are covered in forest and/or jungle. The rest of the realm hosts what seems to be endless deserts, unforgiving wastelands, gigantic mountain ranges, millions of rolling hills and immense rivers. Although a small percentage is swamplands, grassy plains. Even the occasional salt marsh can be found. The Vastonian continent holds the world's tallest mountain peak, known as the "Mountain of Immortals" or as some refer to it "The Dungeons of Gods". This awesome mountain stretches to a ceiling height of 21'000 ft. A Place where non have been know to survive. The realm's largest body of fresh water being "Ciez Lake" found within the Human Kingdoms. This huge body of water separates the kingdom's of Mecadina and Hannel. This lake is used as the main shipping route for hundreds of merchants and sometimes the realm's many bold pirates and other sea vessels. Two of Vastonia's largest rivers run directly into it. One from it's southern tip and another from the north.

All in all, this realm has some of the world's grandest spectacles. The pyramids of Harad, the Volcanic remains of MT Hate, a massive coliseum known as Gladius, the mysterious oriental lands of Huskuria, the chambers of MT Pelay, the lost city of Tarpaythe, the crystal city of Minus Anthia, are all but a few of the realms more significant places. However this land also has some of the worse places known to exist. Which will be discussed as you continue to read deeper into this website.

Climate/Terrain

Temperatures range from 60 Celsius within the hottest of Deserts to less than -60 Celsius atop the mighty Mountain of Immortals. Average temperatures sit around 25 Celsius within the central most regions, while the outer kingdoms hover more around 20 Celsius. The weather is generally temperate, with average amounts of rainfall and/or snow. The seasons are all quite apparent no matter where you are, with the exception of the Human Kingdom's which rarely sees snow or subzero temperatures. Weather varies across the land from place to the next, but almost every region can fall victim to draught's, mass snowfall, or utter downpours. Overall the weather is unstable and gets harder to predict as one moves towards the outer rim.

Type of Terrain Percentage
Forest/Wilderlands 5%
Jungle/Extremely Dense Regions 1%
Flatlands/Plains/Cultivated 10%
Mountain/Hills 12%
Wetlands/Lakes/Rivers etc. 3%
Swamplands 1%
Desert/Wastelands 68%

Common Monsters/Creatures

Most common monsters inhabit the realm, with a somewhat large amount of unique creatures also making appearances from time to time. All of which are detailed in this websites monster delve. It goes without saying that most of the creatures encountered come from deserts or mountainous regions, since this type of terrain covers most of the land. Just some of the more common creatures/beings include: giants, wolves, sand ettin, land sharks, ettin, trolls, umber hulk, grimlock, thri'kreen, gnolls, goblins, kobolds, ogre, eagles, camels, wild sheep, wild boar and many more. If it lives in the desert, your bound to run into here. Lizard men being the most common around swampy regions. Yetti and snow tigers in cold regions. Deer, manotaurs, and were creatures within the forests.

Established Races/Inhabitants

Vastonia is home to all of the standard D&D races. Humans make up nearly 65% of the entire realm's current populace, although as mentioned above many unique human cultures exist. The next largest racial factions consist of the Elven folk, the Gnomish peoples, the Orcs and the Halflings. Dwarves also number greatly, however almost 95% are female, due to the Goblin Wars of 603 A.D., that all but put male Dwarves on the extinction list. Other somewhat large groups include the Minotaurs of the Minotaur League, the Ogres of old Tantamar, the Dwelves of Kartoom and the Gnolls. Half breeds of many different races are also common across the realm. Some of which include, half-elves, half-orcs, minorcs and half-giants.

Preferred Hero Occupation(s)

All common D&D character classes can be encountered throughout the realm, along with many new classes which can be found in our "character classes" section. Of course some are more rare than others and thus they should be. The more common professions include; fighters, clerics, thieves, avengers, rangers, and magic-users. Others are more rarely encountered, yet still are easily found. The rarest occupations are generally the ones reserved to the rich, secretive or the privileged. IE. knights, elven archers, ninja's, samurai, paladins, monks etc...
