Vastonian Trivia!

This page is dedicated to all of Vastonia's little known facts and other miscellaneous information that has no other place within this website. All-in-all, this is going to be a wako-jacko "did-you-know" or "do you wanna know" section with lots of perhaps useless information on my realm.

The Worst Ways Characters Have Died In Vastonia

  • Getting hit in the head with a 5 inch hail stone (At the beginning of the adventure the PC's got caught up in a local hailstorm, within a few quick moments hundreds of hailball's started pelting down on the city of Carn. It was only a few seconds later that one of the unprotected PC's below met his doom by suffering a strike to the head by a 5'' hailstone.) hehe stupid bastard
  • Getting pummeled by 57 Kobolds (one of my players actually figured he could wander into a small community of Kobolds and take some of their hard earned food....Wrong!)
  • Falling into a one way chasm. (I say one way, because it fell into a molten lava pool, some 500' below. I guess Steve figured his luck was about to run out anyway as his character took a guess at god's wrath, choose the wrong tablet to step on, which happen to give way from his weight and he fell to his demise.) NOTE: This was all in vain, a few minutes later one of the other party members remembered the dead deep gnomes they just passed back a few hundred yards within the cavern, went and retrieved them and used their dead weight to determine the outcome of the remaining tablets. Good job Shelly!
  • Choking to death on dust of sneezing & choking (This is not all that bad unless!~ a long time ago in the first part of the Dark Sweeper Trilogy's, a good character met his fate due to a fellow PC's stupidity. This PC was told not to pull a lever and he quickly disobeyed the request and promptly pulled the lever. To everyone's dismay a little hole in the wall behind the PC which originally told him not to pull the lever was encompassed in a massive cloud of "Dust of Sneezing and Choking" and unfortunately he failed his saving throw and within a few short moments the PC fell to the ground in a heap of deadness).
  • Slit ear to ear and hung up for dead ( Yep, a really nice guy did this.... A short while ago during an adventure I was hosting in Calgary AB. we were all playing what was going to be a 5-6 hour game but it turned out to last only a fraction of that time when one of my PC's got annoyed with the other's actions. Thane made short work of slitting the other PC's throat, but not deep enough for her to die instantly. Instead the cut was made only deep enough to make her slowly bleed to death. He then pulled her into the forest "far enough within that she could not attract help" and slung her up in a tree "hog tied" so that she hung around 8' from the ground "just high enough that the wolves could rip her body slowly to pieces" and if they didn't she would still slowly die from loss of blood. As I said before ........Real nice guy!
  • Char Broiled (In the recent adventures of Typ'iacon, many NPC's and PC's alike swung their last swords as Vastonia's greatest Dragon defended her treasure horde as no other creature could. After the first 4 rounds of non lethal combat as she slowly rose out of her massive treasure pile. A brave warrior named Snowwolf met his demise at the hands of Typiacon's lava-like fire breath. As Snowwolf plunged his Katana into the great Wyrm's lower foreleg, she returned the favor with a breath of fire which cause well over 100 hit points of damage to Snowwolf's already scar ridden body. Thus turning him into a pile of charred ashes.
  • Death By Skewering ( In the city of war "Tantamar " this PC fell victim to the tip of a Draconian's graff crossbow. The perfectly shot gaff arrow shot from atop a tall stone tower, inflicted more than enough damage to punch clean through this character's upper torso. The Draconian then proceeded to real him in, pull him up the side of the tower wall, and leave this Half Ogre's body hanging dead for all to witness )
  • Death By From Above ( Also in the first part of the Sweeper adventure's while a small earthquake shook apart a cavern, this PC Dwarf made a valiant break for the only cave exit, but fell short in his goal when a 2000 lb boulder fell ontop of him, crushing him into the ground)

The Worst Ways NPC's Have Died In Vastonia

  • Being slowly digested by a purple worm...

  • Being ripped to small shreads by a wolf pack

  • Being a high level fighter and getting killed by a single rot grub

  • Being hit in the head with a 20 lb side of ham by a Halfgiant

  • Being killed by a half rotted, one armed Kuo-Toa

  • Scraping a golden wall with a dagger to find out that it was actually Yellow Mold

  • Kicking a bag of rice and having it explode into a cloud of Death Mold

  • Having your head removed by your own party member

  • Being pulled under a pile of stinky garbage by an Otyugh and smothering to death

  • Being drug into a Sand Ettin's quicksand-like pool and drowning to death

  • Picking a treasure chest and finding out is had a 26 HD explosive ruins symbol on it

Vastonia's 7 Wonder's of The World

  • The City of Vistagh (The only City within Vastonia to have the equivilant of electricy, generated by a local water wheel

  • The Lost Islands of Fate (These islands sit floating high above the water in the middle of largest Ocean "The Great Ocean of Umbar". Made up of 48 seperate islands, of all diferent sizes, this strange phenomenon resembles what would appear to be a mass of floating citadels.

  • The Crystal City of Minas Anthia (Deep within the center of the Elven Valley rests this marvel of arcitectural genius. The central part of this giant settlement is host to the current Elven King's domain. It is made of huge crystal tablets, glass, sea-stone and granite. This is the capital city of Elflore and home of the Valley Elves)

  • The Lost ruins of Tarpath (The ancient city of the Duergar, Tarpathe resides deep within Mt. Pelay, only recently rediscovered. This city has been cursed for over 3000 years and all of it's former inhabitants remain statues of stone)

  • The Pyramid of Asumen Hep (This over 500' tall structure stands at one end of Harad the captial city of Hadaurm, the city is built a the base of this emense pyramid and is currently the tallest man-made structure in all Vastonia)

  • The Mountain of Gods (This is by far the largest mountain in Vastonia and has over 200,000 miles of unexplored caverns and tunnels. The first dungeon level spans 20 full normal size sheets of paper "11x8" and expands as it leads down into this bottomless wonder. It would take any party so long to explore the first dungeon level that I still haven't bothered to make the next level, but I have estimated that it will span 100 levels in depth. This mountain range sits between the kindom of Pardamane and the vast kingdom of Dacar.......The dungeon levels in this mountain are bigger than some people's realms)

  • The Infameous Mt. Pelay (Here sits the most explored Mt. in all Vastonia, over 50 seperate adventures have taken place in the depths of Mt. Pelay. The bottom has never been found, but so far 15 dungeon levels have been explored. Mt. Pelay is the 4th highest peak in all Vastonia and resides at the top of the Elven Valley in Western Sacranym

  • Mistil Rastio - The Old Wiseman of Tarm (perhaps the most miserly person in all Vastonia)
  • NOTE: I will try to get the rest of these powerful beings/creatures linked to good references in the future.

The Most Renown Heroes in All Vastonia

  • Sir Jilles Derant - Head Knight of Adania
  • Sir Adaran Holme - Head Knight of Mecadina

  • Dre'Ladus - A villian in the eyes of some, but the most famed avenger in all Ryhanion

The Most Wanted Criminals in All Vastonia

  • Crent Tilist - No reward has been posted on this gentleman's head, but I'm sure he is wanted by many people. He goes on adventure's waiting until the task is complete and then proceeds to backstab his partners and leave the sceen with all the loot. He steals from children, kills unarmed men and pillages houses for the sheer fun of smashing personal belongings "the kind of person we all love to hate"
  • Thane - wanted for questioning by several government officials, pertaining to mainy ruthless killings. He is also wanted dead by many of the PC's of the realm, a true murderer in any sence. kills small kids, slays innocent women, kicks dogs for a laugh, and burns houses to the ground just to prove a point.
  • Unknown - a 50,000 gp reward is to be given to anyone who return's the princess of Adania and her kiddnapper.
  • Desneb - a 25,000 gp reward has also stood as one of the highest bounties for the capturing of Desneb, he is blamed for the killing of Dreknyr's recent king.

The Most Disliked People in All Vastonia

  • Lady Pathanos - A High Elven head official of Sacranym, she constantly interfers with PC relations, accuses people of crimes they did not commit and abuses her authority accross the entire kingdom of Ellore.
  • Crent Tilist - As mentioned above, you should be able to tell why he is on this list
  • King Mar Rayden - Former King of West Banesmeire, he tortured people in public, beat his men at arms and raped the women of the town.

  • Battle of Slade - Adanian knights fought against the knights of Slade. In the end Slade was conquered but not without the loss of Sir Malcron "head knight of Adania".
  • The Destruction of Demedus - The historical battle took place in the "Endless Desert of Ethingarnin". The five Human armies confronted this gigantic monster in perhaps the most famous battle in Vastonian history (some beg to differ).
  • The Betrayal (Huskurian Wars) - This war took place between 7 of the major family clans in the Oriental kingdom. It involved the Osaki, Hatsumia, Sysinshu Vs Sininsuko, Nashagami, Yasharushu and Nakatomi families.

NOTE: All of these events will be explained in great detail later in the completion of the Human Chronology.

The Most Fameous Melody of The Realm

A once great hero of Vastonia, Brodan brought to the world a sense of hope and honor. He was unjustly slain and will be forever missed by other great heroes of my realm. He was perhaps the most valiant and courageous character to ever walk the paths of this unforgiving realm. This page is my tribute to Lance and his everlasting presence within Vastonia.
  • The Cry of Lord Brodan's Banshees
  • I am the terror who walks in the night
  • When alive silenced by the light
  • Praising the gods and man alike
  • Doomed by the lord of everlasting plight
  • Law, truth and justice my only way
  • Now my cursed soul in this corpse will slay
  • Once a hero to friend and folk alike
  • Unmerciful death will come to foes I strike
  • Donning honor I do shame
  • Only mortals are to blame
  • An enchanted blade with which I kill
  • Pools of blood I choose to fill
  • I am the essence in every mans dream
  • Immortality I forever scream......

The Most Rediculous Monsters in AD&D

  • Black Ball - Forget it! No point, by far the most outrageous monster in AD&D. It CANNOT be slain.
  • Tarasque - The legendary Tarasque. Even before trying to hurt this creature, you better have a mage that can cast wish.
  • Quickling (think not? I beg to differ, I can kill any character with but a single Quickling, with ease!
  • Render - A way crazy creature, regenerates even below -10 HP, immune to most forms of attack, Can only be permanently killed by using electrical attacks.
  • Spirit - Tree Forest Woodman - A massive creature of awesome power, 50+ HD and immune to most forms of attack, also fights to -50 HP.
  • Rot grubs - Used in evilness to kill PC's, there's no almost no way a PC can survive an attack of Rot Grubs.

The Ten Most Powerful Drinks of the Realm

  • Halfling Brandy - Second to none, this reddish colored brandy has an alcohol rating of 99.8%. Guaranteed to send most PC's crawling to their mommy's for mercy. Found occasional throughout the realm.
  • The Crusifier - A moonshine drink made in Carn. Alcohol content 99%
  • Special Mead - A long aged mead found in Taz. Alcohol content 95%
  • Minotaur's Revenge - A powerful red liqueur with a shot of halfling brandy and hot spices mixed all together. Alcohol content 90%. Found only in Byshore.
  • Orcish Ale - Also know as black tar, this extremely thick malt ale, will kill most humans or demi human races when consumed, although the general alcohol content is somewhere near 90%.

The Ten Most Expensive Items of the Realm

  • Products of the Old Wiseman - Bar none anything to be purchased within the realm will come from this mysterious being. Unknown by all! This, what is thought to be a small man, collects magical items as time passes on. Historical town archives say the Old Wise man has lived within the small community of Tarm for over 350 years, thus eliminating the possibility of him being human. Prices for his magic items range anywhere from 3 to five times normal price, although he will trade, but never to a discredit to himself/ itself. He is also known as the collector and easily has Vastonia's greatest magical horde. DON'T GET ANY IDEAS!, He is VERY VERY powerful, so powerful that I cannot add him to this site, revealing this persons true identity would destroy his reputation and mysterious origin.
  • Holy Avenger +6 - A unique legendary sword given to an unknown paladin true of faith and heart of long passing. Now lost in time this weapon would fetch a price exceeding 1,000,000 gp.
  • Masks of the Dreknyr Orb - Ancient mask relics of awesome powers. Each mask would easily receive 50,000 gp sale value but the entire collection would be worth no less than 500,000 gp.
  • Hewards Mystical Organ - Priced around 150,000 gp
  • Sithbane's Staff - Another Vastonian artifact. 87,000 gp
  • Archmalese - Another one of Vastonia's most powerful swords. Valued at 65,000 gp
  • Talisbane - A legendary sword of Vastonia, originally created to rid of Typiacon. Valued at 60,000 gp
  • Valousentar - A holy defender +5, valued around 58,000 gp
  • Joe's Diamond - This massive diamond was found in a burrow of a badger in the year 604. AD. by one Joseph A Walthrop, now governor of Byshore. This item was sold to a royal Gemcutter for 50,000 gp
