Island of Endless Battle!

If you find yourself washed up on a beach in the far eastern reaches of Vastonia, it would be in your character's best interest if they just came ashore a gigantic island called "the Island of Endless Battle" to leave as quickly as possible.

The island acquired this name, not only because of the endless skirmishes that take place amongst the natives who dwell on the island, but rather in reference to the creatures in which ravage the islanders and their tiny communities on a regular basis (All out feeding frenzies). The Island of Endless Battle could quite easily be Vastonia's most dangerous place to inhabit " just ask a local " if you can speak to them at all.

Here hundreds of native warriors rage constant war with opposing tribes for power. Hundreds are killed each year, with only the strong surviving to rule over the weak. The island communities (tribes) are small in size, but house impressive numbers compared to other small Vastonian settlements. There are 5 major villages/tribes which reside on this island; Vistil, Soul, Kane, Crene and the City of Pirates. All of these have hundreds of inhabitants, but none so impressive as the City of Pirates. Here over 5,600 natives make their homes along with several hundred merchant sailors and pirates, while all the other tribes consist of not more than 3,000 members.

Besides the main tribal communities there are around 300 smaller (some almost none existent) villages, which are not detailed on my world map, mainly because they are so small and insignificant their not worth drawing. However, with all of these populaces combined, it increases the islands numbers 3 fold, for an estimated population of 48,000, most of which are savage barbarians, ruthless killers and chaotic maniacs.

Now onto the beast, which plaque the islands furthest shores. You all know them as dinosaurs, but the natives call them " Ush Magar Sume" meaning " Demons of Death". When the natives are NOT fighting each other, they prepare for the demons' next attack. Giant spears, pitfall traps and swinging logs are all but a few of the techniques the locals use to stop the Dinosaurs' onslaught.

A Complete Overview of the Dinosaurs Which Inhabit the Island!

As you can quickly tell by this list, not many of the dinosaurs that inhabit the island are plant eaters "Omnivores" instead 90% are savage meat eaters "Carnivores" The following chart details each separate species and their main qualities.

Allosaurus

Frequency: common

Diet: Carnivore

No App:1-2

AC: 5

HD: 15

# of Atks: 3

Dmg Atk: 1-6/1-6/5-30

Spec Atks: swallow man-sized or smaller victims whole on a natural 20

Size: (G) 45' long, 20' high

The Allosaurus is basically a smaller version of the T-Rex

Brachiosaurus

Frequency: rare

Diet: Herbivore

No App: 1-8

AC: 4

HD: 40

# of Atks:1

Dmg Atk: 3-24

Spec Atks: trample 3-30 damage, tail swipe 3-24 damage

Size: (G) 80-120' long

The Brach can only be found near water or marshy areas. They feed only on plants and rarely invade the locals.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Frequency: uncommon

Diet: Carnivore

No App: 1-2

AC: 5

HD: 18

# of Atks: 3

Dmg Atk: 1-8/1-8/5-40

Spec Atks:swallow any man size creatures or smaller on a roll of 18 or higher.

Size: (g) 60' long, 25' high

The T-Rex is by far the largest carnivore of all the dinosaurs that inhabit the island. It hunts down anything as prey and is relentless in it's attack. It will eat almost anything.

Lesothosaurus

Frequency: common

Diet: Carnivore

No App: 2-8

AC: 7

HD: 7

# of Atks: 3

Dmg Atk: 1-6/1-6/2-8

Spec Atks: speed burst (see below)

Size: (M) 6-7' tall

The Lesoths eat almost anything, but prefer raw meat (scarred villagers are always fun to chase down). They attack using 2 rear claw attacks and a tearing beak attack. A Lesoth can use it's incredible speed to charge at strong opponents giving them a +2 to hit and damage, but only allowing them one single attack (usually a beak).

Mantimasaurus

Frequency: common

Diet: Carnivore

No App: 4-40

AC: 8

HD: 2

# of Atks: 3

Dmg Atk: 1-6/1-6/1-4

Spec Atks: swarm (see below)

Size: (S) 3' high

The Mantima's survive by attacking in large groups allowing them to bring down large prey. They receive a +1 bonus to hit/ additional Mantima beyond 6. They attack using their claws and beak.

Herrerasaurus

Frequency: common

Diet: Carnivore

No App: 3-12

AC: 7

HD: 9

# of Atks: 3

Dmg Atk: 1-3/1-3/4-16

Spec Atks: Lunge (see below)

Size: (L) 8' tall, 15' in length

The Herrerasaurus like all of the other carnivores on this list love fresh meat, but unlike the other dinosaurs they prefer eating other "smaller" dinosaurs, but don't let that fool yeah. They will attack humans also. They attack using their two front claws which cause minimal damage, but their main attack using their large mouths can inflict more than enough damage to kill their prey.

The Herrerasaurus is not either the fastest or smartest dinosaur inhabiting this island but it is by far the most nimble on it's feet. In one single lunge they can leap up to 25' in distance forward or backward. Thus giving them superior advantage in combat. They receive a +4 bonus to all initiatives.

Raptor

Frequency: common

Diet: Carnivore

No App: 2-8

AC: 4

HD: 6+1

# of Atks: 3

Dmg Atk: 1-6/1-6/2-8

Spec Atks: Jump rake

Size: (L) 12' long, 6-7' tall

Raptors use their long grasping forearms, large teeth and powerful rear legs to kill their prey. They hunt by stalking down their targets, running at them and leaping into the air clawing and biting with their razor sharp talons and hook-like teeth. The attack large prey by jumping onto their backs. The jump rake they use is a charge, thus giving them a +2 to attack rolls, this rear claw attack counts only one attack and causes 2-16 damage.

Protoceratops

Frequency: uncommon

Diet: Herbivore

No App: 4-16

AC: 6 body (3 head)

HD: 10+1

# of Atks: 1

Dmg Atk: 1-8 or trample

Spec Atks: trample (see below)

Size: (H) 22' long

The Protoceratops is a dweller of the plains, eating only the islands plantlife. They are not aggressive, but can be very protective of their young. They attack using their sharp beak shaped mouth which can cause 1-8 damage or trample small or medium sized opponent's for 2d12 points of damage.

The Natives of the Island!

The Shaman Warrior (click here to view shaman warrior character creation)Some of the natives practice magical use as well as the skills of warriors. This warrior-shaman class derived mainly from this culture and will most commonly be found in use on the Island of Endless Battle. This is one of Vastonia's many unique character classes but stands alone as the only character class which uses the best talents of both the fighter and the cleric classes.

All other character classes that you can encounter on this island are either rangers, fighters or plain thieves (thugs). You will almost never find magic-users, clerics, druids, knights or any other sophisticated class.

In general the natives who inhabit this island rage constant war with each other not to mention with the savage beasts who can quickly slaughter off an entire village. Trading and supplies are generally received from "Pirate City" the capital of this island and the home of the Grand Chieftain (basically king). Pirate city is extremely well fortified, having 45' high, 25' thick stone walls, which act as great protection from the dinosaurs not to mention rival tribal communities. Within the city you can find just about any kind of building or hospitality. Taverns, Inns and provisionaist shops are easily the most common structures. However almost anything else can be found here short of magic schools or shops, but remember these communities are very primative, building are made of bamboo, sticks, mud etc. Most people are to poor to afford rice and the travelers of the port are what keep the city booming.

Pirate city is slowly being taken over by keen, cunning pirates. The locals are being treated fair but are typically used in smaller ploys for the benefit of foreigners. While armor, superior weapons and other normal supplies of the Human Kingdoms are extremely rare to find in all of the islands surrounding communities. Pirate City has been fortunate enough to gain the benefits of almost all of these precious items, but still lack in mass quantity. If anyone wishes to purchase any items made of steel or iron, the price usually exceeds even the richest local and generally can only be traded for. Vastonia's standard monetary is almost useless here and the natives will more than likely turn coinage away. Possession is truly 9-10ths of the law here. All natives speak the native tougue of Khaja. 5% speak common.
