Qiricel, once a
beautiful warrior, now roams the world as one of these horrors of the undead.
The ending of her life is shrouded in mystery, but one tale has that she loved
a ranger; the ranger, a famous adventurer himself, scorned Qiricel and she killed
herself while she grieved his scorning.
Combat: Groaning
spirits, or banshees are already formidable foes, but Qiricel is twice as formidable.
As “regular” banshees, Qiricel strikes fear immediately into her opponents,
unless a successful save vs. spell is rolled at half. Those who fail flee for
15 rounds and are 75% likely to drop all items in their possession.
Her wail or keen
is her most dreaded weapon, normal banshees can wail once/day, Qiricel can twice/day
but only once in a 12-hour period. Any creature within 50 feet of Qiricel when
she wails must save vs. death magic at half. Those who fail die immediately.
Qiricel’s touch causes 1-12 points of damage.
She is immune to
weapons of no more than +2 enchantment. Highly resistant to magic, more than
the normal banshee (75%), Qiricel is fully immune to charm, sleep, and hold
spells, as well as cold and electrical based attacks. Holy water causes 2d4
points of damage. A dispel evil spell will kill her, but she has a save vs.
spell at half. She can be turned as a “special undead”.
Qiricel can sense
the presence of living being up to ten miles away, twice the distance of a normal
banshee. Any creature within that range, that is still within that range come
nightfall, will surely be attacked. Qiricel will go all out to find this being
and destroy it, hence the fanatical morale. Normal attack methods are used depending
on the beast or creature in the range of Qiricel.
Habitat/Society:
She resides in a set of ruins deep in the forest 40 miles east of Roskilder;
many believe it is the ruins of her former home after her rampage as a newly
formed banshee. Her treasure trove is an abundant one. Many a gentleman caller
left her gems, jewels and art. Some may have even left powerful magical items.
She can speak many humanoid languages and demi-human languages. She seeks the
ranger who scorned her in her former life. Until she is destroyed, she will
seek him out.
Ecology: Wherever
she roams, everything that has life and grows delicately crumbles to dust as
Qiricel floats past. Trees and plants wither and turn sickly. Everything is
turned to black. Thorns grow and sickly vegetation grows within 25 miles of
her lair.
