The
Dumite!
The
Ultimate Competition

The
Dumite originated over 500 years ago! Back during the Teh Lao dynasty, with
the first host being the imperial city of Kantemi in (89 A.D.) This deadly
competition was originally held for gambling purposes and warring rights,
but later became a gathering of the best hand to hand martial artists in
all Huskuria. Over the passing centuries word spread of this great mortal
gathering and now competitors far and wide travel to Huskuria every 4 years
to take part in Vastonia's greatest competition "THE DUMITE".
Perhaps
the fairest competition in all Vastonia, the Dumite only happens once every
4 years. The next gathering being in the year (609 A.D.). Not only does
the hosting city change each gathering, the competitors do as well. Many
travel from afar in hopes of conquering the ring, but only one competitor shall
win the Emperors grand prize. Each year many new challengers trained in
various martial art forms gather to test their might in a preliminary skills
competition. These tests are used to determine if a competitor is worthy
of entering the ring. The lower skilled warriors being cut from the ranks,
while the qualifiers move into the competitive standings. If a warrior challenges
a Dumite feat and fails, he or she has dishonored themselves, and is not
likely to be invited to the next Dumite competition (they are expected to
know their limits). All of the qualifying challengers have their entries
entered into a giant wooden vat, which is stored away hidden from all until
the day of the competition.
The rules for this competition are
very strict and never change. Magical items and/or enhancements of any kind
are forbidden, thus leaving the tournament to be decided amongst only the
truly skilled. All forms of armor are also prohibited, meaning only a character's
natural attributes will decide his or her fate, not the metal which many
are used to hiding behind.
Previous
champions have always been honorable except for the Dumite's most recent
champion "Akeme Tao". This master of martial arts shows no mercy against
his opponents and just as soon break every bone in their bodies as to kill
them instantly. He emanates fear as he walks into the ring and stares cold-heartily
into his enemies eyes. He stops at nothing to win these great competitions
and can be expected to show no remorse in the next Dumite. Akeme has been
reigning champion of the Dumite for 2 consecutive gatherings and will most
likely be one of the two finalists again in the next competition. Akeme
has also broke a few previous Dumite records, but none that are
actually kept track of if you catch what I'm getting at.
