Shrines vs temples.. Training and other stuff.

Post by garhkal »

OK. From somewhere i read shrines, IF MANNED are often only manned by a handful of people. Where as temples (and thus churches), can often have dozens if not more people..

So would a pc be able to level train if at a shirne? If so, what level can he/she train up to?
Would pcs be able to do anythng much, in the way of gaining spell casting from those at a shrine? Or are they mostly non-casing lay priests who attend them??

I don't see it as such. A shrine (to me) is simply a statue or a small holy area where the person in question can pray etc. IE; there could be several shrines in 1 temple and each may represent another god etc.

Nobody mans a shrine, plenty man/work within a temple/church. ;)

A shrine may have a custodian though who comes to clean it up, change the flowers out, take the cob webs off etc.

I'd agree with Cole. A shrine may not have anyone attending it, or perhaps have just a custodian to care for it. Not the sort of place I see a cleric or priest going for training. Gotta get to a temple, where those who are higher level can teach him the "higher secrets" of the order, new spells/prayers, etc.
