NICE! Go back, jack, and do it again!

And as for the request of rockin', I'd like to introduce you to Martin Lancelot Barre, the leadest and bestest guitarist of Jethro Tull:

All right no more music theory deliberation this time.
In a nod to the creator of the thread, a Led Zeppelin song that rock radio program directors seem to have overlooked, 'In the Evening':

While I don't have the same opinion of todays music as the OP has ('good' and 'bad' music being entirely subjective matters as well as the fact that you no longer need to suck up to a huge label to get your music out there. Things are getting less-not more-corporate, which is a good thing) I grew up listening to some great music.

Here's a few of my fav's
Robert Plant-Big Log
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZQL22xOmUM
(Robbie Blunt was just as good a guitarist as Jimmy Page yet gets so little credit)
Ronnie James Dio-As Long As Its Not About Love
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxu2N-yV4dw
(While I know he gets listed as 'metal' a lot he was always more of a rocker/crooner. RIP DIO.)
Cheap Trick-Need Your Love
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vno1jrbMZEY#t=41
(One of the hardest working bands ever. This is an amazing live version.)

And because I'm into new stuff made by young kids who loved the old stuff, here's the Strypes.

Robert Plant - Big Log
It's funny how a song takes you back.
Whenever I hear that song, my mind flashes back to my freshman year of college (1983-84) and the video arcade a block away from my dorm. It was in the cellar of a mixed commercial/apartment building, down about four steps from the street. Dragon's Lair was a popular game back then, as was Spy Hunter. Big Log was a very popular song on the jukebox in that place, and it seems that whenever I went in there, I'd hear that song as I walked down the steps. To this day, when I hear Big Log,I hear the digital version of the Peter Gunn theme coming from the Spy Hunter machine, and the announcer's intro to "Dragon's Lair the fantasy adventure where you become a valiant knight on a quest to rescue a fair maiden from the clutches of an evil dragon" playing in the back of my mind.

Similarly, "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar, "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes, and "Cum on Feel the Noize" by Quiet Riot take me back to the dining hall in the dorm, where those three songs seemed to play during every meal.
"No matter where you go, there you are."

I think it's time to give some recognition to the women.
Stik jogged my memory so here's Pat Benatar with: 'Promises in the Dark' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp-fHT9fE7Y
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts: 'Bad Reputation' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WzIn15uYUw
