The pack horse that Octo's quartermaster provides is a hill-pony, similar to the one Maughus rides. It is already fitted with a pack saddle.
Surprisingly, the pony actually accepts its cargo without complaint, a remarkable development considering that the smell of blood and death would usually spook any horse but a warhorse.

Ash and Grouch saddle their horses with ease and set about seeing to Liri's horse, and Papa's. Neither man approached Praesul after the first time he bares his teeth at them.

"If we hurry, we can make town after noon, even ponying a pack horse," Ash says.

Liri comes to where Ash and Grouch ready the animals, and smiles at them in pleasant surprise. "Well thank you, gentlemenn. I'm not used to that kind of service at all." she approaches Casta and pats her, then finishes the setup.

Papa makes sure everything is secure on his horse then mounts up

Angel glares at Praesul a moment, the horse could be trouble sometimes. Saddling him with a grunt she hops astride the mount, and leads the pack horse by tying it to the Stallions reins.

Grouch gives Liri a half-grin and says: "We want to ensure it is done right. We do not want to lose time because someone fell off owing to a loose saddle." His tone is calm and not unpleasant, leaving Liri to wonder whether he is being serious or making a joke.

Praesul's ears go back as soon as Angel begins to mount with the pack-horse's reins in hand. As the pack horse gets closer, he begins to fidget and shuffle his feet and to swish his tail. After a moment, he begins to shuffle sideways while showing his teeth, forcing the pack horse to move away.

"You don't like it do you boy?" She says patting the horses neck, "Papa, could I ask you to take the pack horse? Praesul knows what he doesn't like.."

Liri had simply nodded to Grouch. "Good thinking". But she made a mental note to check her gear unobstrusively next time they take a rest, lst is has been tampered with.

She falls in line behind Angel and Praesul, att least the stallion and her Casta were familiar with each other now (and Casta was not in heat).

Sure I will take the pack horse

"Thank you Papa. Praesul is... well youve ridden with him enough to know." Angel says with low voice, allowing the two Calvary to lead on.

"Is it bad that I am almost excited over a bath?" She Asks the elf beside her.

"What a strange question" Liri answers. "After all, baths are considered to be the focal point of civilisation, aren't they? We certainly deserve one after what we've been through."

"Perhaps I was unclear. I feel like we should rush back, and not tary at the Depot, the others need us... yet at the same time I do not believe having a few moments as selfish."

"The quicker we get this thing to Lord Fraso the better." she adds, patting Praesuls side with the palm of her hand.

Is Papa making his remark about the dwarf's eyes aloud?

[OOC] If Papa is getting creeped out, it is something he is doing on his own.
I haven't said anything about the dwarf, and in fact had assumed that it would have been bundled up prior to loading it onto the pack horse.
There'll be plenty of time for creepy developments later on.
