Nocturno (Private thread) Labyrinth of Madness

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Lamdro squeezes himself through the hatch and helps Jack clear a path through the bones to the stairs. They begin to descend the stairs, having found no traps on them the day before. Once to the lower room they consider the floor.

[How do they want to try to trigger the floor?]

I recall it swang pretty freely, I think that was this anyway.

[So Landro on the short set of straight stairs leading to the trapped floor but not on the trapped floor, prodding it with a pole?]

Oh there is no Landing. The Large Landro could make that awkward.
I guess how long of a pole we do we have with us?
And how awkward does it seem for him?
Jack will also first test it while flying with the pole.

[They could grab one of the 10 ft metal poles from down in the pit. Or say they had a 10 ft wooden pole from camp. One square is 5 ft]

Is the butt hole the spiral staircase?

Before Landro will push it, Jack will take the wooden rod, and fly over the floor and push it down.
If it easily swings down he will then get Landro to do it.

[ yes, the 'forbidden starfish' is the spiral staircase]

Jack flies over the floor and prods downward with the pole. At first nothing happens, so he pushes harder and harder until he is putting almost his whole weight on the pole. It isn't until he puts a significant amount of weight on the floor in the center of the room that the trap activates. The floor for the whole room opens up quickly and smoothly into a pit in the space of about 15 seconds.

Is he able to flyover and pin it open?
Hand the stick over to Landro?

[So he can take the pole to Landro. The pit is 30 ft wide the pole is 10 ft wide, but he can attempt use the pole to keep it from closing completely if he wants]

"I'm going to try to hold this open, and get to you, so you can keep the pressure on. Then I will try to spike it open. Savvy?"

[I'm a little confused, can you be more specific about where/ how each is positioned and what they are doing?]

Maybe I'm being too ambitious, and unclear.
Jack will try to keep the floor down, while he glides over to Landro at the bottom of the stairs.
Even if he can't hold it open, he will ask Landro to give it a push, and see if his Strength let's him open it from his vantage.

Then if he can hold it open Jack will try to spike it so he can investigate inside.

[So the pit is 20 ft deep and currently open, it is like 2 20 ft deep sections of wall moved away from each other like a giant trash compactor. So you want them to both go inside and try to hold it in place while jack hammers spikes in to try to stop it?]

I would like Landro to try and press down from the safe place of the stairwell.
Hoping his strength can make up for his position.(Jack had to be in the middle with all of his weight.)
Maybe I just have something wrong in my head.

[Yeah so the previous floor slid to the side, pressing down on the new floor won't do anything]
