Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?

[Nocturno]

Sue glares at the speaker.

"That is a shot. How did that taste? The other." He points to the ale. "That is Ale, made for sipping not chugging, typically."

"So that wager on all of us coming back alive?"

[Jenara]

"Ummm we plan to come back alive. You mean.. wait..there is a risk we won't?" Alecias words are trembled as she grabs on the table, "Maybe I should have one of those after all." She jokes the laugh apparently hiding her fear.

"If none of these good people want to accept the water on the strength of this tough fellow's stomach, then I will," interjects Regnet whilst raising his eyebrows at Sue questioningly.

"On all returning alive? It's whatever you care to wager."

[Nocturno]

"Once something hits my throat it does not return."

He will turn to Jim and say: "This is what we call a sucker's bet."

"A sun on all of us returning alive."

[counterkid]

Evenwood turns to Alecia and says. I will be counting on you to keep us alive. He then turns to the nobles and says: When do we get started?

[Squirrellord]

To Sue "Warm, not pleasant, but consumable. Barely. I have been told by Brother Ammek that I have been spoiled... he was rather innovative with his spirits"

At Sue's comment on a suckers bet, Jim dryly replies "lose money now to improve his odds on the other?"

To Regnet "what would the return on the bet of all of us returning be?"

[Jenara]

"A sun?" Alecia gasps into her hand. "If you think we are capable..?" She offers the men a friendly grin, "With my Goddesses Blessing, you will survive." She adds to Evenwood.

[Nocturno]

"A Sun for that bet, and this bet will win us admission to the ride."

He will nudge Evenwood. "Watch this."

After getting the attention of the one who made the bet. "Make it 6 Dragons to get us down the well, and you will see what my iron trap can do."

Sue will down the drinks and then finish his ale, even though it was not part of the bet.

All the while having Lay on Hands ready to go.

Not having consumed any alcohol, Alecia feels fine as do Nix and Evenwood after their moderated consumption.

Isaril, who has copied Jim drink drink, feels in the mood for a festival or party as, indeed, does Jim.

Sue feels warmed but otherwise completely unaffected after drinking his own three shots, one of Alecia's, and the double that was originally Jim's. Getting on the outside of Evenwood's double moves the warmth to Sue's cheeks and he feels more garrulous than usual. Almost as if showing off, Sue polishes off Nix's remaining shot and then his own ale.

At Regnet's urging Sue stands up, slightly wobbly but sound of stomach. Regnet nods, "Fair enough. Pay up, Shaban!"
The latter counts out five dragons with good grace, adding, "How about one more glass? These five dragons against five more and the six you're asking for as well entry? Five versus eleven." He holds up a hand forestalling a reply and then reaches across his table for a bottle which he uses to fill Sue's glass. It's the same liquor; looks like a triple or maybe quadruple. "But if it's too much for you, we understand." He smiles pleasantly and waits.

Someone says, "I'll take your su..." but Regnet holds up a hand and the voice trails off as Regnet speaks. "We resolve Shaban's drinking wager and then clarify what, if anything, this tough fellow, and his companions of course, wish to wager in addition."

[Jenara]

Alecia takes a seat, the leather of her skirt creaking to reveal considerable quantities of pale leg, her keen eyes following the room and the surroundings.

[Nocturno]

Before the 'shun' sound of "addition" is done the drink is over the lips, passed the gums, and look out liver here it comes!

Sue quaffs the drink and the room falls silent.
Only Bleys' eyes are not on Sue.

After putting the glass down harder than he was trying Sue looks to Shaban, and belches. "So; Now that is done with, can we settle up before we negotiate any other wagers?" Sue looks around the room and catches Luranla's eye.

"Take these and the bar drinks till it runs out." He will hand her the 10 profit Dragons.

"And these appear to be our fare down." He will hold up the 6 Dragons.

The appropriate coinage is duly passed over.
Luranla raises an eyebrow at Sue. Tipping is not unknown.

A gentle murmur and then a cheer runs all round the common room. The four nobles stand and clap. All eyes are, for now, on Sue.

The moment passes and people filter towards the (free) bar.

Regnet says, "Most certainly. What wagers do you, and your companions, wish to make?"

Alecia gasps at the Guardsmans audacity and the departure of the coins. Her eyes wide she manages to stay silent for a moment letting him take the lead.
