Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
Ruehar isn't sure about the pain in his back.
The bow hits the stony floor with a solid 'thunk'.
Ruehar, quick off the mark, swings his longsword spectacularly ineffectually and then settles down with a shallow slice from the short sword to the ogre's forearm. {4 dam}
The Trash Ogre gets the measure of elven nimbleness delivering an eye-watering blow to RK's chest. {11 dam}
Cheff's abilities with his morningstar are less than impressive, more of a wild swipe that hits only air.
Intentions & rolls for R6 ?
======
Ogre Init: 8, hits AC -7 for 11 dam.
Cheff Init: 10, hits AC 14.
Once in combat moving away from an attacker is like to give them a free hit unless one is only withdrawing from combat.
But then, that's exactly what the cricket-in-a-peapod combat manoeuvre is for.
Reminder: RV is in GH. Applies to to hit & dam too.
RV still had some carry over injuries: Hp: 20/25 [-2 F-cat bite, -1 F-cat claw, -2 F-cat bite] , so currently 18/25

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
[Were the cat bites not from a full week ago before he fought the hobgoblins and came to tent-city?]
I'll try to get behind it.. Ruehar wheezes through his pained chest as he withdraws and attempts to hide from the ogre while it is occupied with Cheff.
=====
Ruehar hide, move silent [1d100] = 71[1d100] = 65
Lol. Hopefully the ogre is too distracted by cheff to see Ruehar

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
It's pretty obvious that the ogre is focusing on the only creature that it knows has caused it pain.
Ruehar steps back defensive 8' or so to the cave wall but is followed by the ogre which steps up and raises it's huge club menacingly. {hits on init 3}
The ogre has been pulled out of position, exposing its side to Cheff {+1 to hit} who gives it an almighty thump.
It keels over, apparently stone dead.
RK sees the scruffy bandit start to rise, to his feet, picking up the short blade as he kneels and the longer blade whilst rising fully to his feet.
It isn't obvious whether Cheff is aware of the new threat.
Intentions & rolls for R7 ?
======
Trash Ogre Int check, d20:14, fail
RK init 6-4-1=1
Ogre init 2, advances, on init hits AC2
Cheff init 3, hits AC4, 19 dam
Scruffy bandit init:1d10-3+9=2-3+9=8.
Just reading what was on your char sheer.
Can't hide from someone observing you.

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
[Ooc: yeah, was hoping it would focus on cheff for that...]
Thanks... oh crap, the bandit woke up... Ruehar indicates to cheff where the bandit is. If the bandit isn't watching, he will hide. If the bandit is watching then he will stand near cheff and prepare to attack once the bandit comes within range.
====
So the cat-scratch fever healed since then. -10 bandit +8 heal, -11 ogre => -13. [12/25hps]
You can make the rolls based on the situation

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
Ruehar sees the bandit's head turned in his direction but cabt see what he's looking at.
The elf waits for the bandit to come withing range.
Meanwhile Cheff moves forwards and the pair exchange blows a good 20' deeper into the cave.
The bad camel kicked out at Cheff and clangs his armour but otherwise doesn't appear to do any damage.
Cheff takes a gash from the shortblade {5 dam} but his armour fends off the long blade while the morning star scrapes a rent in the brigand's armout and gives him a bone-deep bruise. {9 dam}
Intentions & rolls for R7 ?
And Ruehar has to start making Fatigue Checks from now on.

Ruehar circles around behind the bandit to flank him, attacking with both swords.
=====
Ruehar has the endurance skill so automatically perform tasks 1.5x as long. Would that mean he would check on round 8 for fatigue?

At least he misses quickly

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
As Ruehar carefully approaches the pair, the blade wielder flicks a one-two combination at Cheff, the smaller weapon causing Cheff to duck and the longer blade scoring a faint line on his shield.
While the elf is maneuver around Cheff to the attack their foe's far side, Cheff reaches out and quickly but gently taps his foe on the shoulder with his mace. {Counting Coup: +16 Temporal Honour}
Clearly the broad-shouldered opponent has martial experience and keeps his back to the cave wall but Ruehar still manages to attack their foe's far side. {OOC: +5 init, +1 to hit}
Ruehar's attacks are so poor as to not even require the bandit to dodge them. He utters a very contemptuous "Pfftt!"
Intentions & rolls for R8 ?
======
Fatigue kicks in at (Con/2) round down.
Endurance skill makes it (Conx3/4) round down.
Endurance Talent skill makes it (Con) round down.
Endurance Talent and skill makes it (Conx3/2) round down.
lol: with the moving around RK actually missed after everyone else.
The +5 init penalty was moving/maneuvering for this round only. RK is now at +1 to hit for attacking from the side (until something esle changes)

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
Ruehar is impressed by Cheff's abilities, but does his best to stack the deck in his own favor by continuing to attack the bandit from the side with both swords.
=====
So for a con 10 with the endirance skill, would the resulting 7.5 round up or down? Obviously moot now but for future reference.
RK001 fatigue check R8 [1d20] = 14: T3h F4ilx0rz
Not sure how fatigue will affect Ruehar in combat, so here are the rolls as usual
Init: (lol. Accidentally rolled d20s for init again. Here is the real roll)
RK001 init LS SS [1d10] = 7[1d10] = 1:
LS init [1d10] = 7 -4dex -1gh => 2 (missed anyway)
Ss init [1d10] = 1 -4dex -1gh -2 wep spd => -6 (yowza)
RK001 vs bandit LS attk, dmg, SS attk dmg[1d20] = 5[1d8] = 2[1d20] = 5[1d6] = 2
Wow... I should definitely stick with the bow of it isn't broken, my swordrolls suck.
With all bonuses AC 16 and 13 respectively... definite miss.

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
The elf thrusts first with his short sword missing by at least 1' and then the bandit strikes back at the more serious threat: Cheff, again scoring a line along the shield.
Obviously tiredness is kicking in as Ruehar's longsword slash misses by an even greater margin. The bandit takes no notice, perhaps concentrating on bringing down his chain-mailed foe.
The longer thrusting blade is also turned harmlessly by the pristine shield.
Cheff manages to connect on the bandit's thigh as the latter tries to dodge {OOC: Dex, only just hits, AC5, 4 dam, one absorbed by the armour}.
A tear opens up in the armour {OOC: it's taken 2HP dam, so it drops an armour class.}
Intentions & rolls for R9 ?
======
PS Round 7: RK loses -1 Temp Hon for the bandit's contempt.
Round down. Rule of thumb in HM, apart from GH and 'players go first', everything works against the PCs.
Fatigue Factor: when applicable (after Con/2 rounds, modified by Endurance Talent + skill) and is modified further by encumberance.
Roll d20 and equal or under truncated average of Wis & Con is a success. RK's FF is 10, so 14 is a fail.
He loses 1 Str & 1 Dex (until he can rest) giving Str 10/42 & Dex 17/20, so wt allow 43, max press 115, OD 6, BB/LG 2% and -3 ac, +3 react, +4 hit
If Ruehar's strngth drops below 8 his equipmnet will start to encumber him.
Don't forget that you get +1 to hit from the side and +1 for GH.

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
Round 9
Ruehar is swift off the mark thrusting {Init 0, AC8} and hacking {init 2, AC8} which are both avoided by a body sway {Dex} from the disheveled bandit.
The return rapier thrust {init 2, AC5} misses Cheff by a good 1', obviously off balanced by the body sway.
Cheff's retaliation is to almost lovingly tap the bandit on the rapier-wielding arm {init 3, AC1, Counting Coup, for4 Temporal Honour}.
A dagger stab slips {init 4, AC-6, 8dam} high around the shield and scores Cheff's chainmail collar, drawing blood.

Welcome (on the reminder).
Correct, AC6 now.
You forgot to make a FF check. It's every round. Make 2 for round 10 (one is R9 retrospectively).
You also forgot: "He loses 1 Str & 1 Dex (until he can rest) giving Str 10/42 & Dex 17/20, so wt allow 43, max press 115, OD 6, BB/LG 2% and -3 ac, +3 react, +4 hit"
GH applies to all rolls, so FF too! (GH always works in the owner's favour, so effectively + or - 1)
HM desn't actually use THAC0. It uses a lookup table.

Fatigue rules recap:
Applies after Con/2 rounds on combat (modified upwards by the Endurance skill &/or Talent. ==> RK = (Con/2)x1.5=(10.57/2)x1.5=7.93==> 7 rounds. i,e he checks on R8 and thereafter.
The check is to roll d20 against the Fatigue Factor (FF); GH and Lucky g20 apply. Success is a result ≤ FF which means no change for that round.
FF = Round_Down((Wis+Con)/2). ==> RF's FF = Round_Down((10.36+10.57)/2) = Round_Down(10.46)=10
RK does not have Lucky d20 but is in GH. The d20 for Round 9 was 7-1(GH)=6, 6≤ FF10 so Success. Te d20 for Round 10 was 6-1(GH)=6, 6≤ FF10 so Success.

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
The bandit lunges unexpectedly low at Cheff, catching him in the thigh with the longer blade. {Init -1. AC-7, 7 dam, 1 of which absorbed by (and damaging) the armour}. Cheff remains as stoic as a dwarf and utters not a sound.
It seems the tiredness is calming down Ruhar’s wild swings, as he strikes home with a minor piercing wound {init 3, AC-6, 2 dam, 1 of which absorbed by (and damaging) the armour, and causing the loss of another armour class} followed by a body-shattering longsword hack {init 4, AC1, crit!! Using the d8:7 as the severity roll, and d10,000: 5,228, => severity 9 to the back of left forearm, double dam, 2d8:4,7+2(GH)=13dam which is >25% of the bandits max HP} and removes the left forearm and dagger which make thwapping and clattering noises on the cave floor. {OOC: He’ll never know it, bit that saved Cheff from a crit on init 5}. The bandit drops his rapier in shock. {failed Str/2 check}
Cheff delivers his own body shattering strike {Init 8, AC-8, Location 3,222, Severity 11 to the chest, x3 dam, Str loss, broken bones, 21 dam} and the bandit gasps and expires.
End of combat. Ruehar gains 493xp. And also +9 Temporal Hour. What next?

In the event of a tied initiative for two attacks by one character, the weapon with the lowest WSF goes first. If they are the same, then primary hand leads. If ambidextrous, then the weapons ‘dice off.’
Yes, minimum dam is 1 but Dishonour can reduce this to 0.
Whenever you roll a crit (or a potential crit), always please give me additional d8 and d10,000 rolls.
Three natural 20s in 3 consecutive to hits. Never seen that before.

Using the d8:7 as the severity roll, and d10,000: 5,228, => severity 9 to the back of left forearm, double dam, 2d8:4,7+2(GH)=13dam which is >25% of the bandits max HP} and removes the left forearm and dagger which make thwapping and clattering noises on the cave floor. {OOC: He’ll never know it, bit that saved Cheff from a crit on init 5}. The bandit drops his rapier in shock. {failed Str/2 check}
What next?
======

Re: Adventurers in Narmaren
[Ooc: I was surprised about the 3 crits too when reading. That's wild! Thanks for the ff recap, still getting used to the system.]
Well, it took me long enough to get warmed up but at least I finished strong. Melee's not really my bag. You made a good showing though. Impressive work there, cheff! Ruehar catches his breath and searches the bandit where cheff cam see he isn't hiding anything. Looking for any signs of who this guy might be. He'll hide the body so any newcomers won't spot it.

493 x1.05 => 517.65 =>258.825/ 258.825 x1.1 => 258/ 284
Current xp: 1,381/1,173 + 258/ 284 => 1,639/ 1,457
Rogue lvl up! When do lvl ups happen in game-time?
