Brandishing her quarterstaff* Karlene asks, "Well, can you do anything to improve this?"
She adds, "And if we help you on this task with the giant bees, would you have anything to repel the bees or slaves to mitigate their stings?"

{OOC1: *which may yet retrospectively morph into a mace or club.}

{OOC2: Guys, as nobody seems to have objected about the previous proposals for treasure division, I propose that we make it so on char sheets}

So if 1 segment is 6 seconds, and a spell only takes 1 segment. Can I do something else in that round?

Long Bow is 2/1, but I don't see a spf for it in the PHB.

A round is 60 seconds (1 minute), and a turn is 10 rounds, or 10 minutes. A segment is 1/10th of a round or 6 seconds.

When you have a spell requiring casting time of say 2 or 3, that is added to your initiative roll which is your segment or place in order within a melee round. E.g. your initiative rolled is 5, you're casting a magic missile with casting time of 1 so you're casting it at segment 6 within the melee round.

No, you cannot do additional things within the given round like attacking physically then casting a spell. Casting of spells requires verbal and somantic gesturing, with components. It's not like you say some strange words and stuff happens just because. You're channeling power from different planes and affecting reality. That takes concentration :)

Ok, same thing as 2e just explained differently.

As you might have gathered I like to understand what I am doing lol.

No worries, 1e will almost ALWAYS have a TONNAGE of homebrewed custom rules to negotiate and handle much of the lackage of streamlined rules of more modern systems evidently. I mean lets face it lots of 1E has very upid and dated rules :) however I do like it's native simplicity despite aging flaws.

I would take a shot but even Delilah knows it's probably best to not be known as a child killer lol.

About the pace; To me it isn't the amount of posts it's not getting to react to a situation my character is in the middle of.

If everyone gets there post in on a situation no need to stop, but if someone is stuck at work, or has gone to bed, we can probably wait for them.

I do love a quick pace as long as someone isn't left in the dust in less than 48 hrs.

48h would suit me ok too, if that helps.
But if its a sideline e.g. a conversation between a single player and an NPC that's removed from the other PCs then there's no reason that shouldn't go at whatever fast pace player and GM are comfortable with.
Essentially I guess I'm just echoing Nocturno but less articulately. I'm 8h ahead of US time if that helps explain anything..
(Well said, Nocturno)
