"Yes, she's right," Hollidan says. "We need to focus on how to free the pilgrims in the big cavern, before anyone else gets eaten."

"I'm not sure I can do that ring of fire thing again," Echo admits. "Plus, we don't know where the other one is either. If the other one is in there too, then we are going to have a problem."

"Maybe we can attack from two fronts then, two from each tunnel?" suggests Nuvain, as he and the women approach the others.
"You said you could blind him with the fireplace, right?" Hollidan asks. "Maybe we can blind him, move in, get the villagers to safety, and then you can blast him with impunity?"

Echo gives a nod of agreement to the idea. "It could work," she says. "Providing the spell actually blinds him." A lot could go wrong, but just as long as they managed to get the pilgrims out, she could blast the creatures as much as she wanted.

"Alright then, I'll go with you through the north side, Gimog and Nuvain can go through the east side. Once Echo does her thing, you two rush in and free the pilgrims. I'll defend Echo should the giant come at her. If things go sour, just take the pilgrims and go. Don't wait for me, understand?"

"Works for me," Echo says as she turns to walk towards the tunnel. "Do you still need me to hold your hand?" she asks Hollidan with a small smirk.

"Yes, and that reminds me." He pulls out a torch and a bit of flint from his satchel. "If your spell doesn't work, I won't be able to see to protect you. So I'll light this, should the worst happen. Lead on," he adds, taking her hand.

Echo takes the north tunnel towards the big chamber as planned. She needed to peak into the chamber first to at least get a better lay of the land before she used the wand once again.

Echo leads Hollidan through the tunnel. Sure enough, just as Nuvain claimed, there was a slight opening to the north, and it was filled with bones and skulls. But there was also a sword embedded into the ground. It was large, a two-hander at least, and seemed to shimmer slightly even in the darkness.

"That is a beautiful sword," Echo whispers as she looks at it. She doesn't dare go near it, but even she is impressed by it. Shaking her head, she tries to concentrate on the mission on hand, which is saving the pilgrims. She turns away from the sword to see if she can see the troll in the chamber.

Turning the corner, Echo looks into the massive chamber. The troll has a fire going now, and is poking it with a stick. The pilgrims are still tied up where they were last time she saw, all three of them appear alive and in one piece.

"Keep your eyes adverted," Echo says to Hollidan as she points her wand at the fire and says. "Fira." She could only hope that this time she would be able to blind the creature.

The fireplace suddenly bursts into light, then goes out just as suddenly. The giant covers its eyes just in time, then looks toward Echo angrily. "Puny human!"
It begins to stomp toward her and Hollidan.

"Here he comes," Echo says to Hollidan before she begins to chant. It is obvious she is casting her own spell rather than relying on the wand this time. Despite the fact that there is a huge troll running towards her to pound her into the ground, she calms herself enough to go through the motions of breaking open the component for the spell so that it sets forth a deep fog. She tries her best to center it around the troll.

Unleashing the spell, a blanket of fog suddenly starts to fill the chamber, obscuring all sight--even infravision. Hollidan lights a torch to see what he's doing, then hurries after Echo into the chamber, his sword at the ready.
Meanwhile, Gimog and Nuvain move toward the tied up pilgrims as fast as they can.
The troll, lost in the fog, can't find Echo and just heads in the direction it last saw her, grasping wildly in the air.
