Seeing Sturm rush to her side, Laurana, adjusts her blade and goes to strike the creature, trying to slash rather than stab if she can.

Goldmoon nods and retreats, to inform Tanis and the Majere brothers if Tas hasn't already done this, and to watch the other door into the hallway.

Laurana's blade is deflected at once by her opponent's own weapon. The draconian counterattacks with an overhead slash, but the elf maiden quickly raises her shield over her head to block it. "What is a pretty little thing like you doing down here?" the Baaz taunts. "Guess this is our lucky day!"
Goldmoon, the Chieftain's Daughter, has no qualm in obeying the orders of the mere shepherd and quickly returns to the hallway.
Sturm's opponent lashes out with his sword, but Sturm's armor is nearly impenetrable. Before the draconian can recover his stance, Sturm strikes with his father's blade, slicing through the draconian's armor and scales as if they were paper. The baaz shudders, then immediately turns to stone. Unfortunately, Sturm is unable to withdraw Brightblade in time. It is now lodged in the statue and no amount of pulling will free it.

(ooc: Goldmoon is not obeying orders, she sees the sense of Riverwind's remark, she can't engage in battle anyway and had thought about a possible open flank earlier!)
After telling the others about the draconian attack, Goldmoon walks over to the other door of the hallway, looks at it closely and tries to listen if something is behind it. Realizing she isn't good at that, she calls: "Tas, could you please check this door, too?"

(( Sorry, Thanksgiving had my attention ))
Tas gulps and looks at towards the fighting. "Sure." He says with a mild sulk knowing that his companions are fighting a battle. (( Trusts GM to roll )) Then, he checks the door for sounds and possibly something in the way of alarms.

"Foul creature." Cursing the creatures, Sturm draws a dagger from his belt, before backing away slightly allowing the plainsman to pass. "My Lady." He bows to Laurana ever so slightly

Laurana, "Death would be lucky?" She shouts, hoping her voice sounded far more confident than she felt. "Your kind are not wanted here, go back to where you came!" She swings twice, the elven blade flashing quicky.

Riverwind steps in to cover Sturm's retreat, slicing quickly after seeing the impaled statue. "Come and get it you vermin."

"Oh, you have to be kidding me!" Tanis exclaims in exasperation when Goldmoon reports what happened. "What part of 'do not engage' did they not understand?" He draws his sword. "Flint, cover our exit. I'm going to go get them."
Raistlin chuckles. "Things were difficult enough with only one kender in our group."
Tanis ignores the mage's barb and runs inside, following the sound of battle.
Meanwhile, Tasslehoff stands at the other door, listening intently for a whole minute. He can't hear anything on the other side, though.
Riverwind slices into one of the draconians with his blade, wounding severely. It screeches in pain but continues fighting. One of the creatures in the back shouts out, "Private! Report to the barracks! We need back up!"
Laurana then accentuates the baaz's point by sliding her short sword right into the wounded draconian's heart. She quickly retrieves the sword before it petrifies. Now two statues are blocking the way. One of the Baaz pales and spins on his heel, running off to the south. The other two remain behind, swords at the ready.
"Damn it," Tanis swears. "We need to fall back before this place is swarming with them. Hurry back outside, I'll cover you."

Riverwind attacks Baaz 05 with his masterwork dwarven sword (22, hit) for 9 damage.
Baaz 01 calls for backup.
Baaz 05 attacks Laurana with his long sword (1d20): 5, miss.
Laurana attacks Baaz 05 with her short sword (21, hit) for 4 damage. Baaz 05 petrifies. Laurana makes a DEX-3 check (1d20): 8, pass. Her sword is not trapped.
Baaz 04 runs to get help.
Baaz 03 is unable to attack, as he is bottle-necked.
(Note that a detect noise check takes one round, and a find traps check takes 1d10 rounds. Tas can still check for traps on the next round, if he chooses.

"We had no choice, they saw us before we had a chance to do anything else." Laurana responds as Tanis arrives, "Can you get a shot!" She shouts to Riverwind as the Baaz flees, she hacks at the Baaz holding Sturms sword.
