No, I'm fine. There was a death in the family on my wife's side in mid-September which was a bit rough, because she doesn't have a big family. It was a very strange funeral, too, because there were so few of us there.
But she's holding up.

A German 20th century writer (sorry I don't remember her name) wrote: "Your own death, you only have to die, but the death of the others, you have to live on with."

The German original has rhythm and rhyme to it and so makes a resonating meme. But I hope my crude translation captures the gist: Death is sometimes harder on the survivors than for the dying person.

It's been a rough week. I've worked 57 hours already, and I'm going back in today. Three projects hit at once, and I made a mistake on one of them that I had to fix before it gets filed on Monday.

Another rough week. Fifty three hours so far and I'm going back in tomorrow.
This will pass soon. Just have to get one more project out of the way.

That does it.
Now I'll have to make sure that I stay for more than six hours when I go in tomorrow. :P

Do the Elves in this realm share the human religions? How serious are they about religion at all? Or is that something and I can decide?

Given that the empire has such a great multitude of gods, there is not much pressure for people to worship any one in particular. This extends to tolerance of racial deities.
The elves have their own pantheon. But not all elves worship their racial gods. Some, particularly those who live in human cities, worship the imperial gods, at least outwardly.

The short answer is that it is up to you how/who Liri worships.

So from the pm sent to me, the priests of the new Imperial war god were tasked with destroying the priests of the old war god...

"Tasked" suggests they were assigned the job by someone else, but it's more of a means for the priests of Hextor to establish their place and demonstrate their power. By slaughtering their predecessors, they are showing the world who the real war god is.

I had imagined Elves being more philosophical than religious. But in AD&D, in order to have clerics, you also need to have gods... is it OK if I play Liri as a sceptic who does not adhere to any religion, but lives her spirituality in a different way?

While it is hard to be a skeptic in a world where deities make personal appearances from time to time, how Liri feels about the gods, and how she expresses those feelings, is entirely up to you.
