Act 1, Scene 1: "Together in Harmony" (Game Thread)

Elsa, Merrick, Mira, Pyros and Yasir: The Green
The invisible Pyros moves quickly through the crowd, zigging and zagging and deftly dodging the unsuspecting populace. Finally he spots a red-haired woman seated about 30' yards from the amphitheatre seating. As he draws nearer it proves to be the bard, Elsa, Merrick and Yasir. Cautiously he creeps up on the halfling...

Elsa's head whips around and she begins looking at the bard skeptically until the giggling begins. She strains her eyes but doesn't see anyone. Merrick, focuses on the sound and hurls a handful of dry grass in that direction. The tan, dead straw-like grass scatters like chaff and little bits hang on something in the air in the rough shape of a small person. Shaking his head in mirth and incredulity, Unless you learned magic in the last hour, i'd say Rautant has finally snapped if he'd be willing to make a Kender invisible... Unless it was one of the others. the half-elf says. A hint of worry on his face slowly transforms into a smirk, You could rule the world now. Feigning a simpering tone he continues, Mercy my invisible lord, remember we're on your side!


Artanis, Cal, Cross: The Green
The ranger explains about the food and the Elf and Gnome make their way hungrily to the carts. He scans the standing crowd as they shop, but cannot find any red hair among them, until he spots a rather tall man much farther in. The short-cropped hair definitely labels him as someone new, and not the bard.

Cal approaches the nearest Ale cart, but is having trouble getting served. Finally one of the vendors passes him a cider, but one sniff tells him it is non-alcoholic. Cross sets out to get one of everything, fortunately the carts sell similar products, but he soon finds it would be rather difficult to carry it all himself.

Cross has eaten 2 full meals in the last 90 mins!

"Oh why'd you do that?! Rule the world eh? Cross asked me if I wanted to see some magic, but I didn't know what he meant! Ill be right back." He will dust off the grass, and look for something interesting to check out. Buildings that look like they would give a good view, or a vantage point to listen to the music from. Something different, no strategic plans, just looking for something interesting in the area.

[OoC: I don't think Pyros actually knows much about the Crystal Club, but if it is the most interesting thing in the area, he will go check it out. If he does head that way, I have something planned for that lol. I don't think he over heard enough about it earlier to want to check it out.]

Artanis Auir

Artanis, while still waiting for the bottomless pit to return from the food carts, focuses his attention on this tall red haired fellow. How is he dressed? Robe, armor, trousers and tunic? Any weapons?

But then a thought crosses his mind. Indeed, I may stand out just as much as he does. Artanis casually looks around to see if HE is being observed. While he's doing this, does he notice the commotion caused by Pyros?

Artanis' mind begins to wander again: It's not a big deal if I see the show or not. If I catch up to the others fine, if not, well I've got a room and know how to get back to the Inn. Maybe I should focus on something more important. Fishing? No, not fishing! At least not tonight. Girls? No. Well, maybe. But how about focusing on what you see and hear. Are there any individuals that appear to be up to questionable antics? Well, besides Pyros. Perhaps keep an eye out for the shape changers. Speaking of those, you really need to buy that silvered longsword from John and learn to use it with your left hand. Good idea. The girls are impressed by that. That's NOT what I meant.

"Excuse me!" Cal says loudly to the vendors. If still not noticed, he makes a bright arrow over his head to draw the vendors attention with a cantrip.

"Nice trick Merrick, you'll have to teach me that one." Mira says with a grin, one that falls when she realises whats going on. "What son of a Draconian made the Kender Invisible?" She asks with a scowl. "Do you have ANY idea of the trouble he could cause?"

"Still.." She whispers to Elsa, "I appreciate the skill, but you have to keep a level head that Kender..."

"Well nothing we can do now, let's not do that again. I'm going to watch the performances they deem better than me.. You can join us, or ..." She shrugs, unconsciously moving against Yasir.

Mira watches the floating grass a moment in amusement before she realizes the significance. "What son of a Draconian made the Kender Invisible?" She asks with a scowl. "Do you have ANY idea of the trouble he could cause?"

He seems to mean well enough, much better than most of the Sithican Kender... at least he's not a bloodthirsty maniac... Merrick trails off, sipping his wine. If I'd had the means to dispel it I would have, but unless you do I doubt there is much else that can be done at this point... unless you discover who has graced him with this little boon...

Elsa just shakes her head and grins, How much trouble could he get into?

Pyros, hardly hearing the conversation as it falls behind him, runs off to get a better view of the area. The only tall structures nearby are the fountain (which stands perhaps a dozen feet high), the twenty foot high Harmonic Hall, or the cliffside itself. The fountain would be the closest to the party by far (only a few yards away).


Back at the carts Artanis scrutinizes the redheaded man. He is young, dressed in simple breeches and a common doublet, and tall even for a human; standing nearly head and shoulders higher than Artanis himself. He is slender but looks like he has powerful arms and shoulders like a man used to long hours at hard labor.

Cal, a few feet away, begins shouting at the vendors and attempts to make a small arrow of light appear over his head pointing down at him. Perhaps fortunately, the cantrip fails. It seems clear that they have seen him since they gave him the cider, but they seem to be pointedly ignoring him now. Other people in line are looking around for someone else, glancing back at the diminutive Gnome occasionally.

About that time Cross returns to where Artanis is with a small basket woven of odd-looking reeds sold to him by a vendor for a single copper when he purchased some food. He quickly stocks up on a surplus of food for the party: two meat kabobs (chicken and lamb), two veggie kabobs, two meat pies (chicken and pork), a couple of fried dough pillows and, of course, the meat and cheese assortment which resembles their snack at the Wayfarer's rest quite a bit.

[OOC: Cross spends [1cp for a basket, 1sp on kabobs, 1sp on meat pies 6cp on beignets and 7cp on the cheese and sausage platter for a total of 3sp, 4cp

"Pyros.. No he's not like that.. Just I'm actually worried he might get into trouble." She let's out a long laugh, the alcohol still running through her system. "I'm actually worried about a Kender..." Leaning back on the grass fully she closes her eyes, choosing instead to embrace the music.

"Just.. Look out, when the Meistersinger looses his most precious possession.. You'll see." Shifting her attention to Merrick she continues. "As for who it was.. I don't have that spell, I wish I did. It wasn't you, so blame our little friend over there.." She motions with her head to Cal. "Although in doubt he has time to cast spells, he's too busy eating.. So I guess our dagger mage is an actual mage... With no clue how much danger he is in." Clapping her hand on her forehead she sighs. "I'm turning into my mother."

Pyros will climb the fountain as it is nearest.

Artanis notes the amount of food that Cross has procured with mild amusement. "Are you feeding an army there or stocking up for a month long trip?" He quips with a wide grin. "I have yet to spot the others - would you prefer to stand here and continue looking for them, or to wander through the crowd looking? If we stand here, that allows you to eat your feast without having do dodge people at the same time. It's up to you."

Artanis continues to scan the crowd, looking for any of the others. To Cross he grins and replies: "Well, the town watch has not been suddenly summoned, so perhaps he has not...completed his prank yet."

Pyros The Invisible deftly scales the fountain, taking a seat atop the statue's head. He sees Artanis, Cross and Cal back near the food carts, then rows upon rows of standing people just East of the fountain, followed by hundreds more seated between those standing and the Amphitheatre itself.

Artanis searches for the bard's red hair, but cannot see her in the milling standing crowd. Perhaps she is beyond, closer to the Amphitheatre ...

Suddenly, to everyone's eyes a light flares up atop the cliffside as if a great bonfire had been lit near the town wall to the south! Quickly another and another are lit, each about 100 yards further north along the ledge! The crowd begins to cheer, and bonfires continue to spring to life leading all the way to the northern edge of the city! The things must be enormous to appear so large from this far away! Finally another performer takes the stage, a truly gifted male violinist.

[Ooc: Mira recognizes the fires from her previous visits to the festival. They were actually lit just after her performance last time.]

"Its so strange seeing this from this side, those Beacons, they lit when I finished.. and now the Masters Play.." She shakes her head.. "Bards practice for years for that, these people... listen to that change, that transition.. that is glorious, they don't take time to dabble, to fight, to... well... They have music." Realizing she was starting to sound a little off she stops. "I could stay here.. forget the wolves, the bad dreams.. I could live here and almost be happy. But." Pausing she lifts her head, scanning the crowd for the others. "This isn't my home."

The fires will almost make Pyros fall off the statue.

How is his view of the stage?
