RAW versus Rules As Fun

Folks, here's one I'd like to put out there:
I recently rolled up a new chararacter that (in my head) was a tough, daring combat cleric.
Rolled 3 HD (d8s) and got 2,2, 3 = 7.
with 1st level max HP & CON bonus on top it's playable for sure but I wasn't going to be having much fun with it, certainly not playing the char the the way I'd envisaged and have any great life expectancy.

Been thinking about this for ages so, for Waterdeep, how about:

• 1) You level up and before rolling choose to either roll HD or take average HP (rounded up).
  2) If you roll below average HP (rounded up), you can insead take average HP (rounded down).

So, am I being a wuss here?
Or is this something you'd like us to adopt in theis game?

I like having a safety net like that.

Safety net is always good.

We (CK Sql and I) already do Roll or avg by the book. We don't choose in our real life games.

So I like it. Adventurers are adventurers for a reason.
