Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"If asked, I'm suppose to say that I'm representing Commandar Mouna?" Kendra asks. "What do you feel he could be hiding? It might help with what I am looking for."

Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
Arulia frowns again. "No, I mean this city. What brings you to this city?"
Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
Shima grimaced, "Lack of money, an inability to hold down a mundane job and to a find new friend or two."

Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"You aren't the only one," Arulia replies. "Far from it. Except for the army, nobody in town seems to have enough money."
She falls into awkward silence for a long while, unsure of what to say. "This dwarf obviously wants something, but he won't just come out and say it," she thinks. "Maybe I should leave him here and let him bother someone else." But instead of heeding her thoughts, she finally asks, "What kind of work are you looking for here? Unless it involves the army, I doubt there are many people hiring, but I can at least point you in the right direction to look."

Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
When no one is close, the dwarf leans across and replies in a very low voice, almost a whisper, "Frankly I don't like the army, especially the scaly ones. I seek adventure. Well, loot too. And I'm looking for a particular gnome to try and save his arse. And, without sounding sad, I would be honoured if you, at some point, choose to call me 'friend'."
Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"So... what are we going to do about the women we lost yesterday?" Tulbas asks Haaque. "They might want to change the money to gems, so... Norris?"

(OOC: When Tulbas was wondering about true healing he was talking to Gobax.
Do we know other jewelers in the city?)

Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"Steel is pretty universal, they could spend it anywhere, even in a different city. I don't even know if they like jewelry or not. I do know they like money. But there was also unidentified potions in the pile. Chances are they don't want to try drinking them without first finding out what they do, so where would they go to figure out what those do? Perhaps to your shop?"

"Maybe." Tulbas says reluctantly.
Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"I was just thinking, they knew they were in there to rescue someone, but I don't recall if I ever mentioned your name or what you did. They might not know that your shop could be associated with the people they stole from."

Haahqae, Tulbas, Gobax and Felran (Steel Tankard, common room)
The innkeeper brings Gobax a very watered down beer for a silver piece and a similarly watered down cider for Tulbas for five coppers.
(OOC: As far as Tulbas knows, Norris is the only jeweler in town.)
Kendra Greylock (Old Fort)
"Just show the invitation at the door and you'll be let in without question," she replies. "As for what he is hiding, we have no idea. He uses magic to protect himself from scrying, otherwise we'd not bother with this whole mess. He knows all of the clerics and our templars and spies, but he doesn't know you. How you go about gathering the data is up to you. You can try talking with him, particularly about the temple, if you think you can be subtle enough. Or you can try breaking into his office and riffling through his things. Maybe you can get something out of one of his aides, if not him personally."

Felran whispers back, "Sure, but I think I left Ne-Chanz with the dwarf..."

"All right," Kendra says with a sigh. "I'll try to see what I can find out." She couldn't help but wonder how these people were able to make it this far with all of the mistrust within each sect. ~They aren't big on working together,~ she thinks to herself.

Kendra Greylock (Old Fort)
"See that you do," the priestess replies. "I'd hate to think of what might happen if you fail to bring me anything worthwhile." With that, she walks off, leaving Kendra alone.

It is now Third Watch (9 AM).

Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"A gnome?" Arulia asks, her interest piqued--she has a sinking feeling she knows which gnome, if this dwarf is looking to get him out of trouble. "Well, I know a gnome. What kind of trouble is he in, and does he have a name?" She leans against the back of her chair. "As for the other, I suppose I could call you a friend if you prove to be one, but that will be more likely when you stop trying to flatter me."
(OOC: Amusingly, with all the typing of "gnome", I originally misspelled "name" as "gname". I'm glad I previewed it first!)

Re: CH. 9: Winter is Coming
"Haahqae", the dwarf whispered. "Too many ears in this place. I was told he'd be in the other place" He shrugged, continuing in a slightly louder voice, "That's the grotty Inn up the road. Headed off there now, to be honest. Want to come?"
