Naras introduces herself, "Hello, young dwarf! I'm Naras Stonebreaker, here as a stand in for the kohen. What might your name be?"
***
After hearing his reply, she adds, "I understand that some mechanical spiders were a problem a year or so ago and that the remains of some of them were brought here. As a representative of Gonto I'm interested in the craft skills that were used to make them. I'd like to be able to have a look at their remains and talk to the investigating wardens. Who do I need to talk to for these things to made possible?"

"Oh, uh, let's see," the dwarf says, shuffling through his papers. "You'll need permission from the Highwarden to do that. Those remains are classified." He hands Naras a large stack of papers. "You'll need to fill these in triplicate."

"Thank you very much. I appreciate your help. What is your name?" the priestess responded. "Would you be kind enough to let me have two copies of each of these? I find I can be prone to mess them up with ink smudges," she added. And as a final afterthought, "Might I be seeing you in the temple any time soon?"

The dwarf gives her extra copies of the paperwork. "I'm Private Gilor, ma'am," he says. "And I suppose, if I am not too busy with work."

"Thanks you so much, Private Gilor. I would urge you to come. A life of work is good. But but a good afterlife works too," she said, loading the paperwork into he backpack.
With this, Naras trundles off to the Lord's Manor to seek an audience, make herself known and pay her respects.

The lord's manor is a massive building near the center of the town. It's large enough it could probably hold half of the town, if necessary. While the west and east wings are only two stories, the central building is three stories tall. A steel fence surrounds the manor and its courtyard, keeping unwanted vagrants out. A beautiful gazebo can be seen overlooking a garden on the east side of the courtyard, and there's a hedge-maze in the back.

Approaching the front gates, Naras introduces herself to the guards, who appear to be wardens. After verifying she is who she claims to be, they search her and confiscate any weapons she is carrying until she leaves. Then she is escorted through the courtyard and into the manor itself.

Naras is led through immaculate halls, passing numerous servants--cooks, maids, couriers and so forth. Eventually she is escorted to a spacious office. There's a bay window giving a great view of the ocean, and before it sits a desk of mahogany. Behind that desk sits a dwarven woman of middle-age, her black hair coiffed perfectly. "Ah, so you must be the new kohen everyone is talking about," she says, standing up. She's wearing an opulent green gown that matches her eyes. "I am Lady Olena Ulvorn, Lord of Narin and member of the Merchants Council. I take it you have come to pay your respects?"

Not knowing exactly how to reply, Naras bobbed her head and aid, "Exactly so, Your Ladyship." She waited, awkwardly.

"My little birds have told me you have visited several places already," she continues. She turns and looks out the window as she speaks, her back to Naras. "I suppose you saved the most important person in town for last, is that right?" She turns back to her. "Stonebiter, was it?"

Naras responded, "It seemed the right thing to do, your lady ship. Nearly correct. Breaker. Not Biter." She waits to see if this is some bizarre class game or if the other dwarf is just a few stones short of cartload.

"Well then, may I ask what you plan to do now that you are the new kohen for this town?" she asks. "Are you looking to shake things up...or keep your head down?"

"Neither. Just do what's right and fix what's broken. And further the skills of crafting."

"Crafting, eh? Hoping to earn some coin then?" Lady Ulvorn asks. "I can respect that. And new business is always beneficial to the community as a whole."

"Well, Lady Ulvorn, it was something like that that drew me to his town," the priestess explains. "About a year ago the town was troubled by some mechanical spiders that murdered some people. Nasty business. But looking through that, if the temple, ok I, could master that craft, the possibilities!! Maybe mechanical windmills. Or carriages. Or boats. The temple does need some more funding, and this could be a way. It may come to nothing, but I have to investigate the possibilities. That is the essence of what I was exploring before coming to pay my respects. The wardens require paperwork," she continues, patting her backpack," before they'll even think about letting me near the mechanical remains that they have."

Lady Ulvorn chuckles. "That would be a sight to see, but I doubt it will ever happen. Even if you could be sure it was safe, the people would not support any devices built from that technology. The murders are still too fresh in everyone's minds. Maybe in a decade or two, but not now."

Naras thinks for a minute. "It could actually take that long to master. But it's another form of service to Gonto. I just want to be able to examine the remains. I can understand why they're careful with it. But if it's so much scrap, why would they give it a 'classified' rating. That's made me even keener to see it. It's not like I'm going to weaponize it - second only to being a crafter, I'm a healer! Assuming you have influence there and that it wouldn't be too improper, how would you feel about putting a word in with the Wardens to let me see the remains?"

***
After listening to any response from Lady Ulvorn, Naras starts to get into her stride, "Well, Lady Ulvorn, may I ask if there any matters with which the temple, essentially me, could readily help you, or this fine, fine establishment of yours? And if you, perchance, should happen across any investment opportunities in which the temple, essentially me, could benefit from, then I would be delighted to hear of it. Of course, the temple does not have substantial financial reserves at this time. But I would presume that your little birds may have tweeted this already."

***
OOC: I'm not actually expecting the mechanical bugs thingto lead to any innovations whatsoever. It's just RPing what's in front of Naras.
