Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
I got one around lvl 4, but it was for a skill (swim) not ability score
Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
You know what's better than getting hit by a Beholders disintegration ray? Everything.
Yep ran into my first beholder today. Almost got the sucker too, I had him down to less than a quarter of his health, and, thanks to my high ac and the false life spell, I was still at max hp... Then BOOM disintegrated.

All it takes is one bad roll sometimes... Save: Failed.
Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
Yep, beholders suck. You can get deathward some places or with some spells that removes at least 1 of their ways to auto-kill you.

Some canon-fodder hirelings and summoned critters might be called for...
Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
Well, I finally made it to Stormreach harbor. Already noticing some different things. I used to spawn right near the Leaky Dinghy. All of the trainers were near it, too. Now I spawn on the lighthouse island, there are a bunch of refugees and guards there, and the trainers are near the Wayward Lobster now.
I wonder why that is? Are the quests near the Lobster better for newbies now than the ones near the Dinghy?
Oh, thanks for the 1,000 PP, Haahque. I was finally able to check my mail.
My friends list still insists that Hallr has a level in Rogue.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
Yeah, they didn't move the trainers but I also noticed the transporter to Korthos had moved, not sure why. (I started at level 4 so I started in the harbor).
Really, depending on how much you do on korthos, you can leave it between level 1 and 4ish... meanwhile there are level 2-4 quests scattered all over the harbor.
Oh, and grats on finishing Korthos
I'm still worried that I'm not going to be able to play with people cause I'm going to be too high of a level.

You can go into any bar and speak to the Spiritbinder and you will spawn there. You can make it the leaky thinking if you want.
Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
Yeah, I know. I was just wondering why they changed things around. My theory is that for whatever reason they wanted the newbies to start nearer to the Lobster instead of the Dinghy.TristenC wrote:You can go into any bar and speak to the Spiritbinder and you will spawn there. Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
There are some lower level quests there, yeah. The trainers don't move, there are multiple groups of them, each near spawn points.
Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO)
I don't seem to be making myself clear. I'll start over.
When I last played DDO in 2011, after you finished Korthos Island and went to Stormreach Harbor, you would appear near the Leaky Dinghy. The trainers were pretty close by it.
Flash forward to today. When you leave Korthos, you now appear on the lighthouse island. There are refugees around, and guards leading them to the city. The trainers are outside the Lobster, instead of the Dinghy now.
Other things are different, too. The Wayward Lobster is in a different place. There weren't even any docks that led to the lighthouse island. You had to swim there, as I recall.
Here, check out this map. This is what it used to look like. Compare it to how it looks now.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, that's how I remember it when I last played as well. I don't recall if there used to be trainers outside the lobster before, but I do know that the trainers near where the old spawn point are still there.
Also, the quest that used to be on the island is now in the middle of the city. That one made me really weirded out for a bit. Most of the quests are still exactly the same and int he same place though.

Yep. Ah, I found it, here. It was part of Update 19, about 2 years after I left.
At least I know I'm not just mis-remembering things then!Stormreach Harbor Revamp
The Harbor, and its quests & NPCs, have undergone some renovations!
- Many NPCs (Trainers, Quest givers, etc.) have been relocated.
- Mari Mosshand is no longer the NPC to seek out for free bags. Instead:
- Fitzpat the Fence now gives out the free gem bag.
- Baudry Cartaman now gives players collectible bags.
- It's now possible to walk to, as opposed to only being able to swim to, the harbor lighthouse.
- Added a simple skill-check quest to allow players to help refugees in the Harbor arrival area.
- Many NPCs have been given grammar lessons.
- Captain Niles Cage is no longer quite so verbose.
- Talbron is now a Sorcerer trainer, and Aiden is now a Wizard trainer.
- While fixing a server crash in Baudry Cartamon's Interests, we made some other updates to the quest. The quest is now available to play!
