Before anyone can react in time, the first spider moves forward and attacks Val with its iron mandibles, but the half-orc easily evades the attack by simply hopping over it, into the room itself. She then turns and strikes at the creature, but her trident's prongs simply bounce off the creature's metal covering.
Areilon swiftly moves into the room and goes for a different spider. It only has time to rear back a bit before she plunges her sabre into its glass eye, shattering it and soaking the weapon in oil. When she withdraws the blade, the spider stumbles a bit, spurting oil onto the floor, then collapses in a heap.
Ouragana tries the cantrip she used earlier that night, but this time it actually works. It slows the spider down considerably. This gives Areilon a bit of time before it comes after her, and allows her to easily avoid getting bitten.
However, Jocelyn hears the
ticka-tacka-ticka-tacka of another creature from behind her. She turns just in time to see a fourth spider, having come down the hallway, almost upon her!
