"Haha, well, take some time and think it over, friend," Jafar says.

After they are shown out and are on their way back to the tavern, Thuskar finally speaks up. "We could afford it, if you're determined. But five hundred, plus the fee for the ship...would take the funds of the whole group. We'd only have a handful of coins left."

"We could, but We need to survive also, there is such a thing as a line, Imani is not happy with the situation, I fear endangering ourselves would benefit no one." He strokes his beard, "There has to be another way."

"Like just bust in and take the kender? Of course, then we'll be on the run from the law in two different territories," Thuskar says.

"That was my idea. I have a few thoughts, but I do not wish to spend all of our money." Jerrard heads to find Locky to explain the situation.

The two return to the inn, finding Locky and Babushka still in their room.

Babushka looks up at the two men. "Any luck?" she asks them.

"Where are they? Are they coming?" Locky asks, almost jumping on Jerrard when he arrives, "I can't wait to meet them."

"No I don't." He lowers his head, shaking it softly. "They know what we want, the price is ridiculous, they want 500 steel, which we simply don't have, unless we spent all of our money." He looks at both the Kender and the Gnome. "I am at a loss."

Babushka shakes her head. "That is ridiculous. I wonder what they're after? They can't seriously think we will pay that money. And at the price the kender are, they can't make much money from them."
After a moment, she continues to speak, changing the subject.
"I have looked at our provisions, we have food that last us a week, and Locky can pray to Paladine for all the water we need, but we have fodder for the animals that would last us only two days if they can't graze. Plus, we would need another horse for Malika. Or, if she can't ride, we should think of how we can distribute the weight so that no horse is slower than Dekker.

Do we know the way out of here well enough so we can survive on that while trying to escape? Or maybe is it a better idea to sell the horses that are not special to us and board the boat? I wouldn't part with Dekker, but of course I would pay for his passage. "

"I believe Imani can direct us some of the way, Thuskar and Ulster the rest." Jerrard's head is still low, "I will have to break my word Babuskha, I can't bear.." He trails off, "This place is hard on me, so much pain and mistreatment."

"I would suspect passage on the boat would be more than we could afford, we will have to buy horses and leave that way once more." He says after at least 10 minutes of silence. "I need to free Malika and leave this place, I need to leave soon. I am having Knightmares you all locked up, mistreated." He glances at Locky, "I cannot have that."

"Mistreated?" Locky asks curiously, her ears picking up. "We can't save them?" She frowns, pouting her lips "I wish we could, but...."

Babushka looks at Locky. "Do you think that if we sent word to Kendermore, or to your superiors, people there might take actions to help the kender? Maybe if someone else, not connected to us, made the offer to buy them, the price wouldn't be so high.

And Jerrard, we would need to buy only one more horse. And only of Malika can ride oh her own. If she can't, she should better ride wit either Locky or me. Probably with Locky, because Locky will have helped her get free of the magic that binds her, so she will have confidence. If we put some of Locky's things on my Bey, both he and Locky's Denel will be able to move as quickly as the horses of you men."

(OOC: My PHB says, on table 49 p. 78, that the first reduction of movement rates in animals is 2/3, not 1/2)

"Did we ever actually decide where exactly we are going?" asks Thuskar. "If we know that, it'll be easier to decide how to get there. Ulster and I are great mountaineers, if we need to cross through any."

(OOC: The Monstrous Manual says otherwise, and that's the chart I've been using thus far. I've been trying to find some errata or some indication of which is correct and which is not, but have not had any luck so far.)

"We have two main options, back to Shrentak or Pashin, but the latter is close to Silvanesti, if the stories are true it will still be a bad place to go." Jerrard responds to Thuskar, "But its closer, would we need to pass Ak-Tubal to get there?" His mind still on the Kender.

"Kender don't really, umm." Jerrard pauses. "Locky is the exception, I don't know what they would do." He shrugs, "What do you think?" The mage turns to Locky, "It is your call."

"If we go on foot, or horseback rather, we'll have to cross Mehmet's territory entirely to reach either Pashin or Shrentak. Unless we cut through the mountains. The only other option is to head north and get a boat so we can bypass his lands altogether. That way is slower and more expensive, but less dangerous than trekking through the mountains," Thuskar says.
