Locky skips forward into the room, keeping an eye out for traps. While she is distracted doing so, however, something that was hiding behind one of the fungus pillars leaps out in front of her suddenly. It resembles a bunch of rotting plants that have somehow formed together into a man's shape and size. It's very moist and smells terrible.

Before the kender can react or even think to move, the creature slams its two fists at her. Both strike true and then the various vines and tendrils that make up the creature's fists start to wrap around the kender's face, binding her and cutting off her oxygen. The hapless kender realizes she cannot breathe at all!

Surprise Roll (1d10+3-2): 2. Locky is surprised (AC 10).
Monster attacks Locky (1d20): 15, hit. (2d6): 3 damage. (1d20): 5, hit. (2d6): 2 damage. Locky can't breathe!

(OOC: Locky can hold her breath for about three rounds. After which, she'll need to start making CON checks to avoid suffocating. You'll need to roll a successful Bend Bars/Lift Gates check to get free.)

Babushka retrieves the dagger Locky gave her, plus the knife she got from Shay, and runs into the cavern, around Locky and behind the monster's back. She attacks it with both dagger and knife.

Babushka leaps up on top of the chest, which allows her to get behind the beast and helps her better reach its back. She stabs with both blades, one after the other, but seems unable to pierce the creature's mossy hide.

Locky tries to speak but is unable, the experience is interesting but not enjoyable. She tries to force the plant away.
(ooc: I'm on site, no dice, she has 1% chance of success can you roll for me please?)

She does try to bat the creature away with her Hoopak.

Jerrard sighs at the Kender's actions. He charges the creature coming behind the other side of the pillar, checking no more creatures are present if this is the only one he lets loose bolts of magical energy (magic missiles) letting them loose directly at the creature, hoping the jolt will force the Kender free.

While Locky struggled against the creature's hold, her little legs kicking wildly, Shay and Jerrard rush to aid her.

Jerrard casts his spell, unleashing two arrows of energy that blast into the shambling plant monster, causing it to howl in pain. It does not, however, cause the beast to loosen its grip any.

Drawing his blade, Shay charges the monster. Jumping into the air, he brings his sword down on the creature's arm, but to no avail. It doesn't even cut through. "Damn! It's like trying to cut through wet sod!"

Locky attempts to break free (1d100): 66, fails.
Jerrard casts Magic Missile on the monster. (2d4+2): 8 damage.
Shay attacks the monster with his short sword. (1d20): 8, miss.
Monster continues cutting off Locky's air. She has two rounds of air left.

Jerrard draws his sword, attempting to drive the short blade into the creature.

(Ooc: Second round, so he gets two attacks.?.
Hit rolls:
1d20 die results: 12 & 18 [AC: 6, AC: 0]
Damage:
1d6 die results: 2+1=3 & 4+1=5)

His concern for Locky is quite obvious.

Jerrard thrusts his blade at the monster, but finds Shay was correct. Its 'hide' (for lack of a better word) was so tough, he couldn't penetrate it at all. Not about to give up, the sorcerer tried again, throwing all of his weight into it. His blade sank in to the hilt and the creature groaned in pain, but refused to let go of Locky.

Upon retrieving his blade, Jerrard noted that his attack did less damage to the creature than he would have expected it to.

Babushka had retreated a little to give the men free access to the monster, looking if there was any place (such as armpit, neck) that might be more vulnerable. Then she attacks again with both dagger and knife.
dagger (1d20 2, 1d4=[15, 2], [4])

(The dagger would have hit AC0 if +2 bonus for "attack from behind" applies, AC2 otherwise)

Babushka again thrusts both weapons into the creature's backside. The knife doesn't penetrate its wet, mossy hide at all. The dagger, however, sinks in to the hilt. Upon pulling the weapon out, she realizes the weapon didn't do as much damage as she had hoped.

Shay again tried slicing open one of the creature's arms to free Locky, but it was like trying to chop wood with a butter knife.

Desperate to save her new friend's life, Babushka again plunged her blades into the creature's backside. The dagger failed to penetrate the creature's thick skin, and the knife outright slipped from her hand and tumbled to the ground with a clatter.
