Zafron let's the arrow go. "Well brother, if I go forward I don't think I will be able to come back. Once you go in a certain distance it just pulls you in. I'm willing to take the chance to go after our brother. I don't know what to expect on the other side, but it's probably not great based on what we have seen so far in this death trap." Once I'm through give me a few minutes before you come through. I will try knocking on the other side with one of my weapons so have Tabbi listen carefully at the illusion. If she hear sound it must be me knocking. If she doesn't hear anything it might not be good. If you do come through after me bring my rope and grappling with you."

"I will knock against the ground or wall not on the illusion with my mace when I'm on the other side. I will knock 3 times to indicate I'm ok. I will repeat it after 10 seconds for one minute. After that I will wait 1 minutes and repeat the knocking I will do this 3 times. If their are complications I will knock 5 times in a row. I will wait 1 minutes before repeating the process. I will do this 3 times."

"If you give me the ok brother I will processed through."

Ten minutes elapse with no word nor change in the situation.

Van sighs a heavy sigh. "I don't like this brother. But with the others already through, I fear we have little choice." Van wishes he had a way to keep lines of communication open.

"Wish me luck." Zafron will go through with the rope set up as discussed. He will try to bang on the walls on the other side with a mace to try and make noise to indicate he is fine or in trouble as described before.

Zafron begins to pass through, tied about the waist with rope. As he moves part way through, an inexorable force begins to drag him in. the rope pulls taut and creaks under the strain. Suddenly it snaps, unceremoniously dropping to the floor in a limp heap... silence follows

Van will start to pace nervously after the rope goes limp.

The remembering the banging signals.

He will quietly walk over to the wall and listen.

no sound is forthcoming...

Van paces at the wall for at least 30 mins. He grows more desperate, taking longer pauses to listen at the wall.

Tabbi will gather the Zafron's rope. What are we going to do van?

A few extra minutes pass and Van realizes that he did not prepare the spell he wants to use at the last dawn.

"Well fellows. Should we wait here? Whenever I was separated from my Mother as a youngin, she always said stay where you last noticed me missing."

He sighs and drops to the floor.

"I could prepare it after we rest for the night. Though I am not sure how safe staying here could be."

Faladair looks at Van, grumbles for a while and says shyly and quietly, "Ahmm... I really appreciate your moves so far. You are not jumping to the danger head long as does Galan sometime.. but they may be in danger. On the other hand it is true that if this portal is a death trap there is no help in everyone dying. Why don't you stay here and I will try to push through? If I make it I'll pray to my god that a message of our situation will get to you."

[it is called Rary's Telepathic Bond, and it is a 5th level Arcane spell, not a divine spell.]

"So be it. See you tomorrow on the other side." Faladair says, ready his weapon as well as his spirit and push forward through the gate.
