Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1
<<Thank you for telling me. I'm going to look through your eyes for a minute or two, so if you could just give the room a thorough visual inspection, I would really appreciate it!>> Stephen focuses his mind on his armband and sends it a request to boost his constitution.
Adrenalin Control (from item) roll (Power Score: 16):[1d20]=1 - lose 2 hp for each ability point boost. - 8 PSPs
Constitution points gained: [1d6]=2 - Hit points lost: 4
<Ouch! More carefully next time, please, Darke! Would you mind taking care of the damage?>
Stephen closes his eyes, follows his mental link to Landro, and focuses his will on Landro's sight.
Sight Link Power Check (Power Score: Con-3=15):[1d20]=2 - 5 PSPs for 1 turn of shared vision
<<There we go. Wow, that is really... something, isn't it?>>
While Steve's looking through Landro's eyes, his armband probes the damage it did and channels some of its stored will to repair it.
Armband Cell Adjustment Power Check (Power Score:16):[1d20]=6 - 20 PSPs to heal 4 hp. - total: 28 of 55 PSPs spent, recover 6/hour
<<After you and Jack are finished, I may be able to shorten your journey back to camp. Just let me know when you're ready to return.>>
(Later)
When Landro alerts him, Stephen summons his will, visualizing his view of the room with the giant hands and the space outside his tent.
Wormhole Power Check (Int-2=17)[1d20]=19 - failure
<<Hold on, let me try that again>>
Wormhole Power Check (Int-2=17)[1d20]=11
=============================================================================
If the hands room is within 1,000 yards of Steve's tent, then he spent 18 PSPs failing to open and then 36 actually opening the wormhole. Otherwise it was 24 and 48 PSPs respectively (presuming it's within 10 miles)
Edit: Per this post the distance is about 460 yards, so 18 PSPs for the fail and 36 for the success.

Steven views the room through Landro's eyes

<<Allikhain mentioned the pit has some sort of magical invisible cover. She compared it to a Wall of Force. And 'Binky' indicated that the large metal hands are magically enhanced, but he isn't sure what type.>>
Landro moves closer to the 8 ft tall hands so Steve can see that the palms are covered in scars, as if they had been cut repeatedly over time.

In the middle of the room a gaping circular hole in the floor beckons all forward into unknown depths. On either side of the 10ft diameter hole a huge, clawed hand covered in scales of reddish metal jut up from the floor; palms facing each other...

<<Hmm... I wonder if there's some way of controlling those hands. They may be able to reach through the barrier. Perhaps the hands must be cut to control them? Or do they pick up the scars from passing through the barrier over the pit... Something to try when we are all together, I expect.>>

"Let's spend some time in this room, since we have reached the limit of what we have explored." Jag says entering the room.

"Ill take high, you go low." Jack calls out as he flies up to check out the ceiling.

Jack and Jag spend about 40 minutes searching the walls, ceiling and floor but find no hidden features

"Do the surface folks have any ideas they want us to try on the hands, or barrier?"
Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1
"The hands look to be pretty rough. Maybe try beating on the or try cutting them with something. That was something we didn't try while we were down there." Axid offers.

Stephen passes along Axid's suggestion.

<<Ke'Sha suggests looking for hinges on the claws, and checking the ceiling directly above them.>> Stephen tells Jack and Landro.
<<Do we have any divinations we cast to determine the use of these claws?>> he asks Ke'Sha.

Jack will fly to the side of the hands and try to cut them.

Re: The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1
Jack slices across the palm of one of the hands. Despite it's appearance as rusty metal, his blade slices a wound in the construction that begins to ooze with thick crimson liquid... The 'blood', to all appearances, trickles down the palm and onto the invisible wall of force where it fans out in a thin film. Oooh... creepy... I like it! Binky says, his two-dimensional shape watching eagerly. Do the other one! Dooo iiiiit! he prompts

) Jack slices the second hand. A likewise stream of 'blood' seeps down to meet the other. As the two sources of blood mingle, the thin film on the floor begins to swell like a rising bubble until it forms a massive sphere between the large scaled hands. The bottom of the sphere appears to extend past the wall of force into the pit below...

Jag clears his throat. "I will be uh, up here." He retreats to the upper level.

<<It looks like the sphere penetrates the wall of force. What happens if you toss a rock in the sphere? Could you tell if the rock exits the bottom of the sphere? What happens if you poke the sphere with a stick? Can you push the stick through the wall of force if it's also in the sphere of 'blood'?>>
Stephen also gives Ke'Sha and Lena a running commentary of what's going on, trusting them to let the non-mindlinked members of the party still in the camp know what's happening.

Jack will find some pebbles to toss in. From about 10 feet away.
