Satisfied that the wolf in his sector is secure for the moment, Artanis looks around and sees that Mira is in greater danger than Elsa. Although Mira does appear to have some assistance from a Kendar Wolfwannabe in Pyros. The ranger admires the fellow's puck that's for sure, as Artanis quickly closes the distance and strikes at the wolf currently chomping on the tardy bard.

Mira tries to strike at the creature trying to drag her away with the shortsword she borrowed, only to have the weapon torn from her grasp..

Simple [1d20] = 1 I fear I'm cursed.

Once again the Gnome is quick to act, conjuring a simple sound illusion behind the northernmost wolf. The spell goes well and the bleating of an injured deer can be heard, but the large beast ignores it other than to glance back. Artanis strolls up with a stoic, determined step and cuts twice at the wolf attacking Mira; magical longsword in one hand, silver longsword in the other. The first swing goes wide, but the second nearly catches the canine in the snout. Only the sure-footed steps of the creature keep it from suffering a nasty gash. The Dagger mage pulls out a bit of Arabic Gum and folds it around an eyelash as he whispers his wizardly work. His hand glows like the moon and he taps Cal on the shoulder. The glow on the Elf’s hand and the Gnome both fade from view, disappearing completely! At the same time the bard tries to take advantage of the distraction, slashing as hard as she can at the wolf that injured her. Blood, unnoticed on her palm, causes the sword to fly from her grasp, sailing over the assailant and landing some yards away to the northeast!

The northernmost wolf finally makes it to the melee and approaches Artanis with a low rumbling growl. It feints, springing left and right on its forelegs, before lunging at the Ranger! Dangerous teeth snap down on the half-elf’s torso, cracking ribs and tearing flesh! It quickly dances back to avoid being battered off; lapping the blood from its fangs hungrily. Meanwhile, Elsa is busy fending off the large wolf to the south. It snaps and nips at her, dipping past her shield and locking down on her shoulder, crushing and grinding bones beneath her chainmail! A few raps with her mace forces it to let go. Can we use the webs and vines somehow?! She calls over the melee as the wolf shakes it’s bloodied muzzle. Maybe back up so they cover us better?

The wolf that injured Mira, now free of the Ranger’s distraction, attacks the bard again! This time it catches her leg, biting quickly and releasing to avoid being struck. The teeth sink into her calf and thigh, causing fiery pain to lance through her leg. She stumbles a step, weaponless, but manages to keep her feet. It is clear she won’t be able to take much more abuse. With a wordless cry Elsa batters at her own attacker, connecting hard with the furry jaw. Pyros spouts some gibberish that he thinks sounds like what Mira said, then begins yipping and barking like a wild-thing! The wolves ignore him; that is until he loads up his hoopak. The first sling bullet catches the Bard’s attacker right on the forehead, eliciting a sharp crack! The massive beast shakes it’s head, giving him time to take careful aim for his next shot. The injured wolf growls menacingly at the diminutive the Kender who promptly makes the shot of a lifetime; snapping his sling-bullet right into the wolf’s saucer-sized eye! Whimpering in pain it backs away a few feet to the south, pawing at its ruined eye and scrubbing its face on the ground as if it could scrape the damage off. A hideous snarl rises from it, then the creature looses a pained howl.

To the East, stepping from behind buildings to the North and South, another pair of wolves join the others! Fortunately for the party, they both pad off to the side building to investigate the noise caused by Cal’s cantrip!

Lol, 3 PCs acted simultaneously, and Cal was only a breath before them… talk about Teamwork! Too bad everyone but the kender kept missing!

Cal has a blue circle around him now, indicating his invisibility. Spyguy: channel your inner McGuyver! Let’s see what that improvisationalist kit can do! Don’t forget, you’re invisible now so long as you don’t make direct attacks or use offensive spells!

cross talks in as commanding and clear a voice as he can (not something hes used to) "right! lets try and swing in between the lava and vines. ill help Elsa and Pyros you help Mira and Artanis" rushing forward cross flings gar at Elsa's wolf and then hoping they are following moves back to the spot between the lava and vines "Artanis how long will these vinse last or can you dismis some of them make us a small path along this wall something the beasts wont fit threw easily?"

"Take that you overgrown lap dog!! Make sure you don't puncture the hides! Yasir needs his cloak! Let's show them how a real wolf pack works! Listen to the magic man!" He will aim at the wolf attacking Artanis. Yapping and snarling whenever he isn't talking.

Abruptly two bolts of pure energy streak towards one of the wolves engaged in melee with the party. They twine and spin about each other, flying unerringly to strike the wolf attacking in the back from a full hundred yards away! What is more surprising is that the beast drops like a sack of grain! A clack! and clattering noise soon follow, a dented lead sling bullet rolls over to rest near Pyros. Someone seems to be shouting to them from the direction of the spell, but they cannot make out the words over the noise of melee.

Seeinf Cantrips are having the most effect Mira summons the sounds of barking dogs from opposite the web, hoping the drive the creatures that way. "What?" She asks dumbfounded as the magic missile streaks into view. "Try to get to the inn..." she calls limply, her leg was pure agony, something was probably broken...

Artanis lets out a yell of pain at being bit so viciously. He staggers back a step or two from the force and pain of the bite. He quickly realizes the wisdom of Elsa's words and says: "Fighting withdrawal. Don't turn your backs to them, but back up to the northwest so we are between the vines, web and have the building to our backs!"

He uses the opportunity to counter attack as well as he begins his slow withdrawal to the northwest and some cover for the flanks.
OOC: I'm having some issues with the macro for the +1 longsword on Unseen Servant, so you may see several "test" rolls. I will make 3 test rolls then post the 4th. I posted the 4th roll but still seems incorrect. Ignore the later test rolls as well.

Mira limps/retreats back to go back to back with Art, wishing once again they hadn't left Yasir behind.

[OOC: Ok, it’s been 3 days so let’s move on]

The injured wolf falling abruptly due to a magical blast seemingly from nowhere forces the other wolves to take stock of the situation. The northern wolf directly in front of Artanis begins to slowly back away. The newly come Alpha growls menacingly at it and it stops some 10 feet from the ranger. The others, however, don’t seem overly concerned about it. Cal’s cantrip simulating a wounded animal ends, but he begins another to the southeast behind the other wolves that sounds like the roar of a panther! The Alpha moves off to investigate. Unfortunately, as soon as he begins to withdraw the illusory spell creating the lava vanishes! The smaller of the newly arrived wolves from the East moves past the formerly retreating north wolf to attack the Ranger; following his withdrawl. It snaps and nips at him, catching his calf briefly and puncturing the muscles. Fire burns him as he backs carefully away, swiping at it with his swords.

Mira hurriedly rattles off a cantrip of her own beyond the webs to create the sound of barking hounds! She then begins to withdraw alongside the ranger. Elsa begins her own withdrawl, still hounded the southern wolf. A brief opportunity in their pace is seized by the wolf as it lunges for her! The halfling’s shield proves more than enough to divert the attack, and she retaliates by bashing it hard in the face! Large bloody patches mar the canine’s fur and it seems more cautious than before as it continues to trail her. Cross whips Gar at the wolf, but its lunge causes the dagger mage to miss badly; though he quickly calls the magical blade back to his hand as he backs away from the approaching melee. Simultaneously, Artanis lashes out at his new opponent. Again the magical sword passes wide but the silver blade lands true, carving a bloody swath down the canine’s neck and face.

The northern wolf decides investigating the sounds from Mira’s cantrip is preferable to re-engaging in melee and moves around the side buildings in that direction. Suddenly a streak of green light arcs high through the air from the Wayfarer’s rest, narrowly missing the Alpha! It strikes the building nearby with a hiss and an acrid smell. Pyros, undaunted, scoops up the spare sling stone that rolled to him and fires at the new target now that the northern wolf has retreated around the building. The sling bullet catches the Ranger’s new opponent in the face, slowing its pursuit. It growls low and continues to stalk the half-elf, but much more carefully now. Another sling bullet flies from the East, striking the Alpha in the side! The massive wolf turns and sniffs the air, but otherwise ignores the blow. It continues investigating the area where Cal’s latest cantrip is in effect.

Pyros whirls his Hoopak around in a flourish. "You stinking wolves, don't you know when your match is met!!" As he is firing his stones he will be snarling and growling at them, unphased if his taunting does not seem to have an effect.

"Cal, we need to work together, can you make an illusion of say a mounted knight? I'll make the sounds, Cross... keep doing that. Elsa... thank you." Moving slowly on her damaged leg she puts an arm on Arts shoulder..

"We need to scare them.. then run or in my case hobble to the inn." She draws a ragged breath.. "This is Intolerable!" She shouts.

cross throws his dagger again hoping to hit something this time unintentionally following in pyroses foot steps and growls at the wolf as he flings the dagger

OOC: That odd moment when you're trying to decide if your character should heal himself or attack.

Artanis reacts quickly and opts to strike at the wounded creature rather than use his curative magics on himself. He first takes a swing with his enchanted longsword, but seems to be a bit off balanced.
He takes a swing at the creature with his silvered sword, but alas, he is a bit weakened and winded from the wounds he has received and misses badly.
