Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
It's nobody's fault, just the way things fell out. And it took only a few words of retcon to fix it, really.
Adopt, adapt and improve, as John Cleese said.

Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
for the non-natives: what is retcon?
There's more to me than meets the eye...
Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
"Retcon" is short for RETroactive CONtinuity.
Rather than having to create a contrived or complicated reason for a change in the game, you simply institute the change and ignore any contradictions with prior events that such a change would create.
If you want to add a new PC to the party, you add him and everybody makes like he was there yesterday when the party left town. Instead of saying: "Who is this guy who suddenly appeared at our campfire?" the other PCs say: "Wow, you took a long time feeding the horses."

Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
I feel like all I've been doing is apologizing for not being here, but yet another long week at work has kept me from posting, and I was away all last weekend at a two-day event for my medieval recreation group.
Side note: While at said event, and there was a significant event for me in the group. There is an award called "the Nameless Order" which is given to people who have provided extraordinary service to the Kingdom. During Court on Saturday night, the Crown surprised me by honoring me with induction into the Nameless Order, and in the process of doing so read a scroll explaining their reasons. The wording of the scroll completely blew me away and actually brought me to tears. It is touching to hear that other people have such a high opinion of you. To be inducted into the Order you need approval from a two-thirds majority of the Order's members, and I was told later that night that the polling was unanimous.

Congratulations, Stik, and I am certain that every word in that scroll was richly deserved.

Congrats.

Here's the scroll. Click the thumbnail for a larger view, then mouse over it and click the magnifying glass to see full size.

This scroll was done by Countess Ariana de Gallo, who will be running with me for Crown Tourney next year.
I like how she worked a sword (for my fighting) a harp (for my bardic activities) and a quill (for my calligraphy) into the design.

Stik, that's awesome. Much congratulations.
Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
I'm going to move the conversation between Angel and Salia into a separate thread. That way Breila won't have to repeat her last post to keep the timeline intact.Jenara wrote:I'll reply to Liri once we fix the conversation between Angel and Salia

Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
I have to apologize for my absence. Things are keeping pretty busy here IRL. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to continue in my role as Bastian. That said, please continue to use him as an NPC if necessary! Thanks for the years of great gaming!

Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
We didn't get to know each other too much, but farewells are always difficult.
Hope you find a way to continue posting this way or the other and best wishes with whatever happens IRL.
Best Regards,
BishGada.

Re: BLII - Out of Character Chat
I'm sorry you're leaving this game, and I hope it won't be forever.
But I'm very happy you have played here, because without Bastian and Liquitus, we might never have started talking,
and then an important friend would be missing from my life.
There's more to me than meets the eye...
