"Promised" not "owed."
Chris1234 wrote:Would Naras know the level of tax increase? And what it applies to? i.e. does it affect the whole of the town's population? Does it affect the temple directly?
Yes, this would all be public knowledge. The tax is on everything bought and sold and it affects everyone from the rich to the very poor (but it hurts the poor far more than it hurts the rich).
Chris1234 wrote:Additionally, approx how many are there in town that struggle to get food? Will the tax increase affect these people? Or push more (1%?) of the population into the starvation zone?
I'd say about 30%, most of them overwhelmingly non-dwarven. The tax will affect them negatively.
Chris1234 wrote:Finally, was it 300 Temple-goers that are behind in their tithes? Has this decreased at all over the last few days?
Otaya's list had reached 300 people at that point in time when Naras asked her about it. She was not finished with the list yet. And nobody has paid yet, they'll do that at the service.

Yeah, I'll buy the new cloak and if i still have the money sewn into it, then I'll remove it. I also would have liked to take a bath.

Okay.
Gallath buys the new velvet cloak for 8 silver, removes the money sewn into it and gives the scrap away, then gets a bath for 3 copper. Done.

@Jaded: I loved your anecdote about the Gontorian tutor.
Pretty much how I picture them TBH: essentially data-driven, so they need to think they know all the information and procedures that are likely to become available before they make a judgement call. Often drives those around them nuts, especially people that like trumpets and fanfares.

Actually, I think Chris just made a typo ("she" instead of "he").

Re-reading the thread, I think that plausible. But Ouragana could just as well have misunderstood Naras and she's now not smart enough to realize that. Also, she had mentioned it earlier (middle of page 3, post of Feb 6) and been ignored. She starts that subject now because she wants to avoid talking about her behaviour on their trip with the old kohen.

Jaded is correct.
But additionally, Chris has a rubbish memory for names and, not having interacted with the old kohen, have no memory/image of the kohen (and therefore remain uncertain if it was a he or she).
He also misunderstood the sequence of outings and thought the old kohen's expedition with the "other" mercenaries was before that kohen's expedition with the PCs.
Thus Chris genuinely thought that the PCs had (been forced to) abandon the kohen for unknown reasons.
It was the refusal to divulge those reasons which caused the conversation to get difficult.(That's Chris's fault, not Naras's).
Since Jaded subsequently explained that the PCs were on the first expedition and it was the mercs that abandoned the kohen, the conversation from Naras in the temple should not have occurred, at least nothing like in the way it did. But its too late to rewind that. So I'm just doing the best I can to paper over the cracks and hope for the best.

Wait, Terra was getting used to the loincloth?
Are you trying to set me up for something Jaded?

I wouldn't read too much into it (although Drav is free to interpret it how he likes). Generally speaking, though, Terra is just a big flirt/tease.

I've just spotted that my tag icon has updated to "Marshal".
Are the breaks every 100 ?

No, not every 100. Marshal is acquired at 550, for instance. The next rank after that is Guildmaster at 700.

@Jaded: What time does Roken usually get to his shop? And leave it? And What time is the service due in the morning? And approx what times currently are sun rise and sun set?

Roken opens his shop at 8 AM and closes it at 8 PM.
Traditionally, services are held at 10 AM.
The sun rises at 6 AM and sets at 8 PM.
If you want to give me a brief run down of what she wants to do tonight and what kind of sermon she'll give the next morning, we can skip ahead to when the party arrives, as they have finished their own scene at dinner.
