Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (This is the Game Thread)

Desolate and abandoned, the evil alchemist’s mansion stands alone on the cliff, looking out towards the sea. Mysterious lights and ghostly hauntings have kept away the people of Saltmarsh, despite rumours of a fabulous forgotten treasure. What is its sinister secret?

(Amazing, when you want a twenty.. Lol)

Despite appearances Gunter is sure that the room hasn't been disturbed in weeks.

(I will give anyone with a reasonable wisdom score a chance to do better.. Half check, ie roll under 7 if you have 14 wis)

Searos scratches his ear and looks about.

"Did any of you hear that?"

He shakes his head looks around the room. "Oh, and doesn't it seem odd to you guys that this lock is like... brand new. Its not a very good one but it is very new."

Amon decides rather arbitrarily to check the next room, Dogmeat at his side.

Amon glances into the room, straight away he can tell the room has been occupied recently, the lantern appears quite new, there seems to be a distinct lack of spiderwebs within the room.

Echo watches as Amon walks off. "Where are you going?" she asks, following after him.

"Careful, you two! That floor is unsafe!" comes Kim's voice from behind.

"Indeed." Brax adds, appearing behind Kim. "New Lock, clean room. Perhaps my assessment was wrong. Perhaps it is just a ruse, and there are no spirits here." she looks about intently. "Does the room radiate magic?" she asks Echo.

Echo checks to see if there is any magic radiating from the room, not from the request of Brax, but because she knows something is up with this room.

The room does indeed radiate minor alteration magic, mostly by the window.

(The group would have to enter the room to find out more.)

Searos harrumphs at the whole situation and pushes past everyone and starts walking along the path of good flooring to get to the lantern. He's curious and every now and again his curiousity overtakes his paranoia.

"Well, I'm not going to stand here just gawping at some lantern. Besides, if I fall, I'm sure one of you (waves blithely at no one in particular) can do something about it."

Brax says nothing as Searos pushes past, she backs away in fact, mindful of the last time they were too close. "That is probably for the best." she whispers to Vee.

As Searos enters the room he notes there is definitely a path within the rotten floorboards, there is evidence that some of the floorboards have been repaired crudely with nails.

Approaching the window sill he notes numerous marks, and a small pile of nut shells evident right by the window..

Looking out he sees the afternoon sun reflecting on the surface of the water, he can see the whole bay, and the harbor quite clearly.

"That window seems to be enchanted with some magic," Echo says. "I'm not exactly sure why anyone would use magic on a window though."

Gunter creeps in carefully after Searos, following his steps across the floorboards. Noticing the view out the window he remarks, "Looks like this could be the perfect vantage point for someone keeping an eye on the water. Maybe that's what the lantern could be for? That still doesn't explain the enchantment though."

Turning to Echo he asks, "Is there any way we can tell what the exact nature of the enchantment is?"
