Lucien: when I devour a mortal's soul, their life energies tell me all of that they know, all their secrets and who they were in life before they go to rot in Infernus.

Azonia does some sorting of the herd and separates the ones she determines volunteered and the ones who were forced into servitude, and it seemed more were the ones who were forcefully recruited against their will. Sarancen assists her.

unmasked trident: "Ah, the master is just a man, a skilled fighter and has a good deal of charm about him. He has six bodyguards he personally trained with the trident, they're fanatics, but their loyalty is bought and kept in check through threats and intimidation, as well as gold and women. They love to kill, are brutal, sneaky, and most treacherous. Take those two unlucky bastards he had us kill, they were good men, innocent and young."

second trident: : "be weary of him, if you get any notion of killing him. As we said, he is both devious and rather cunning, with many tricks. Let's just put it this way shall we, there's been assassins who tried to ambush and end him and he outwitted them each, and killed them instead."

"I see. Well you must have a good memory, Lucien. Or else a sparse appetite," replies Karlane with dark humour. While the others are busy herding the various Tridents, she continues just in Lucien and Idrys's presence, "So did you learn anything else of the apprentice's other tasks? Any useful stashes or bases tucked away? Or anything else about the pair of us or Karnack's plans?"
She then asks Lucien if he'd mind having a quick circuit around the areas of the place that he's familiar with but traveling just inside the solid walls to find out if any other secret passages have been added that he was unaware of. He if objects, "It causes me to fret, so, please, humour me in this."

After Lucien has been send on a circuit check, Karlane turns her attention back to Idrys and runs over the details again (with just Idrys) that he might be able to use to ferment more trouble between Delzoz & Lomag {OOC: @Spike - Have I got the right names here?} with him alone) what she discovered in the documents. She asks Idrys quietly, "Does this give you sufficiently more that you can further stir up the relationship between them? Obviously with Erodan's expert help, I mean."

Leaving Idrys to sort out any more forging work that he wants to give instructions to Erodan, she beckons over the Charmed Trident, "So did you volunteer to be here in the first? Or were you forced?" Regardless of his answer, she sends him to fetch the pair that had offered to bribe her. On the return of the three, she send the Charmed fellow off to check with Azonia & Sarancen as to whether they've had any trouble, anything they've thought of that needs attention and to ask them to check with the other Tridents how much food is stored in the complex and where.

When all of that is in place, including Lucien's return (and report), and if not interrupted before, of course, she summons the group (Idrys , Azonia, Sarancen & Lucien) and outlines what lays beyond, (Master, 6 bodyguards, tricks, traps, poison) in case any of them had not heard, and asks for options. Is a map of the area available?

Lucien smiled, 'Aye, a requisite of the elite my child, razor sharp wit. Tis an assassins greatest weapon' as he paused to consider Karnak's apprentice he nodded affirmatively, 'There were some fragments of intelligence worth speculating. He was not rot to the core, otherwise I would have absorbed more of the precious vitality of that ones cheap soul. He was a dirty country lord Karnak seduced with dreams of power, prestige, wealth, advancement. He was a fool to believe such, this is why he died in a air shaft! However, he hated Karnak and had plans to dispose of him, and had been slowly poisoning the mage little by little. It does seem that this Karnak and a 'Lomag' have been forced to work in collusion in order to discover the whereabouts of an underground temple of Lor. Which is ikely more difficult to discover than any thieves or assassins guild. Even if they were to find such, I could not begin to imagine the resource needed to penetrate its defenses!' he mused, then added 'there is to be a secret summit at the end of this month, where evil kings will be in attendance, something of importance I wager'

charmed trdent: there's no need of a map, it is a long rectangular hall with four rows of pillars, a trapdoor in the floor just beyond the door if two or more people's weight sits on it. Do not venture between pillars, there are arrow and dart traps therein. At the end of the hall is an elevator to the master's chambers, be weary before the elevator holes in the wall can squirt acid upon intruders. Enough to melt a man's flesh clean from the bone' he paused to drink some water, 'there are a few girls with him, some against their will and others for coin. Yet there is one woman who is his special prisoner, who even he protects against his own men. There is something special about her, what it is I haven't any clue. But he treats her with reverence as one would treat a valuable treasure. Be weary, my precious friend he has a pet giant snake he keeps in a pit beneath his chambers, I believe it guards some of his treasure and is completely under his control'

How does one prevent the Acid Trap from going off?

charmed trident: 'I've no idea, but it seemed that it set off in a cubby right before the elevator when it did trigger. I noticed that the boss was depressing a floor button in the elevator and I suspect it was the cause of the acid spewing out of holes in the wall.

Also, search for a crack in the floor, therein lies that snake I warned you of.

What say you, sister? Shall we pay this leader a visit? I would be loathe to leave an enemy at our backs...

Azonia grinned at Idrys, 'You can count on me for some bloodletting!'

'and me' Sarancen said, 'so long as there's some coin to be had at their expense, which I'm sure a plenty to go around waits us somewhere in this base'

Erodan laughed, 'it is refreshing to see such spirit alive in my ripe age, not like the lackluster pitiable creatures calling themselves adventurers these days and nothing more than mercenaries!'

"Fine. Lets," replies Karlane.

@ Tristen - I'm assuming you have no interest in using the additional information to try and increase the dislocation between the wo of our foes via further forgery. so I'll let that thread drop.
@ Spike - I'm assuming that you can't be bothered to have our spectre search the walls of where we've been so I'll let that drop. Just don't pull any more secret doors on us from that area - you've done that once which is why I've twice asked Azonia to wall-walk to discover more. You can't use the "well you only went on the work of an NPC that there weren't any, and he didn't know" to produce more. This sole reason for not insisting is to save you work on the basis of trusting the GM, i.e. it's a GM nod of "there aren't any more hidden doors." (If it's purely an in-game decision, then Karlane will definitely insist on Azonia doing the wall-walk before we move on.)

Lucien scoured all walls/areas and says 'I assure you there are no more surprises, my honor as a bloodthirsty murdering killer for hire'

Azonia says 'I have no talent for finding secret doors, do I look like an elf?' she asks jokingly, 'I'll try if that's what you wish'

The set of double doors is locked, what do you do?

Karlane says, "Sure, you might want to stand back 15' or so, just in case there's a trap on the doors." She gets out her toolkit and checks the doors for traps {OOC1: FRT 30%} and then, if none detected, tries to unlock the doors. {OOC2: OL 38%}

DOUBLE DOORS: you spend several minutes studying the door and find a needle trap in the handle, which if twisted to the right would spring three impaler spikes through the hand. However turning it counter (leftward) will unleash a gas trap of some yellow spores. Disarmament requires a precision dagger slit of a wire between the doors.

Disarm trap: succeeded.

Just through the door, you see an elongated rectangular hallway with four rows of marble pillars in 2x2 formation, reaching from floor to ceiling.

From what the charmed trident warns you of, he says there's a trap door in the floor. Further analysis it is outlined and detected, it opens a 10 ft pit with spikes. From his vantage point Idrys can see that there's a door inside of the spiked pit, and a slithering giant snake is coiled in a rope near the door, asleep.

Deeper into this chamber are the aforementioned bodyguards in a relaxed state, some yawning and others training with one another.

Then there's some commotion, 'Hey, let's take him down. He's gotten too big for his breeches! Holding out on us, eh? You filthy swine. We'll tear you to pieces!'

[Ooc:
Chris: Since they've been under constant threat since I had a chance to go back over the letters, Idrys hasn't had mich time to go on about it. Once they've addressed the hazards he can return to the subject' but the last time we stood aroumd discussing it we got ambushed.

Spike: were the Tridents speaking? And if so, was it of us or their 'leader'? ]

Tristan: these aren't the tridents that already surrendered, but the boss-leader's bodyguards beyond the double doors that Karlene picked open.

Note that even though the trap door is closed, Idrys is able to perceive what lies beyond through the narrow cracks in the ground.

[Ooc: thanks]

Idrys tells his sister what he sees through the tiny cracks in the pit wall. Sounds like the bodyguards are dissatisfied, he whispers. Let's take advantage of the situation. Idrys draws his longswords and approaches the commotion stealthily and quietly to get eyes on the situation. [Obviously avoiding the pit]
