CH. 10: Queen of Harts

Ophira shrugs. "I guess you'd need to ask someone who knows the Bullring's itinerary." She pauses then and sniffs the air. "Eww...what is that horrible smell? Like a dead sewer rat..."

It's then that the door slides open and Val walks in.

"Defense...yes, we can help you there," Azerath says. "If you have the coin."

He gestures and a book flies off a nearby shelf and slides right into his hand. He opens it and flips through it, then sets it down on the desk, turning it to face Ouragana. "Here's a complete list of what we currently have in stock."

"Aye, a sailor," the man says. With hesitation, he adds, "Name's...Omari."

(OOC: Keep in mind that with Ouragana's INT of 16, she can only know 11 spells per spell level. As she currently has 10 first level spells learned, she can therefore only learn one more. After that, she can only add spells she has researched herself to that spell level. She has plenty of room left for 2nd level spells, however.

First level spells cost 100 GP, second level spells cost 200 GP.

First level spells - Alarm, Armor, Gaze Reflection, Protection from Evil, Protection from Hunger and Thirst, Wall of Fog
Second level spells - Blur, Filter, Fog Cloud, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Protection from Cantrips, Protection from Paralysis, Silence, Withstand Water

Jocelyn turns her head to look over to the newcomer, then smirks. "That would be Val, one of the people that is traveling with me."

[Nuke]

Val strips unashamed and drops into the water. "That feels good." as she drops her head below the surface. After a few seconds of bubbles, she resurfaces and shakes her head to remove the excess water.

Baeros shakes the man's hand. "Nice to meet you Omari. Now I'm pretty much starving. Would you like to join me for a meal? The drinks are on me."

[Breila]

Ouragana looks at the spells in the book, then smiles at Azerath. "These are interesting spells indeed. You will understand I did not bring my money here before I knew if there was anything interesting here. I shall return tomorrow morning with my decision and the necessary coin."

She bows slightly and leaves with the appropriate good-byes, returning to the Queen of Harts.

"I think that does it for me then," Ophira says, getting out and toweling herself off. "Getting wrinkly anyway." She withdraws her clothes from the magic clothes cleaner and then puts them on. "Nice meeting you, Pastor. Good luck with finding the Bullring."

Val submerges herself in the hot water. The heat relaxes her muscles and cleans away the filth from her body and hair.

"Already ate," Omari says. "And got somewhere to be." He gets up and towels off, before putting his clothes back on. He nods farewell and then steps out, leaving Baeros with his dogs.

Ouragana returns through the storm back to the inn, finding herself once again soaked to the bone by the time she reaches the reception area.

Val loses the Lightly Stiff (-1 DEX) and Gross (-2 reaction) traits, and gains the Fresh and Clean (+1 reaction) trait for 12 hours.
Ouragana acquires the Soaked trait.

"Thanks," Jocelyn says to the halfling as she pulls herself out of the bath. "Enjoy yourself, Val," she says as she pulls her clothing out of the cleaner and puts them on. With that, she returns to her room to eat.

Ouragana goes back to the bathing area to use the clothes cleaner and dryer. "Hello, you two" she smiles at Val and Jocelyn. "When you're all clean and proper, we should meet and talk."

Baeros looks at Omari somewhat confused. "Ahh... OK. If I'll hear about some job for you I'll look you up in the inn. Farewell." To himself Baeros thinks, 'Not so friendly this fellow... yet again it's not the first time people refuse my invitation for free drinks.' Thinking of drinks makes Baeros's stomach rumble again and he quickly gets out, dries himself, wears his clean cloth and gets back to his room with his dogs at his heels. Stuffing some bread to his mouth Baeros first cuts the raw meat slices he has asked for and puts them in the room corner for Takit and Hopper to eat.

OOC: Jocelyn left the bath before Oura showed up.

IC: Once Jocelyn has eaten her food, she makes her way out of her room. She heads for Andar's room and knocks on the door.

Jocelyn returns to her room to find a plate of filet mignon waiting for her, as well as a nice glass of wine. After consuming it all, she heads to Andar's room and knocks. After a few moments, he answers. "Oh, hello, Pastor," he says. "I'm afraid I haven't had time to wash up yet, I just finished eating," he says apologetically.

Ouragana steps into the bathing area again, finding Val soaking in the water. She suggests they get together to talk afterward.

When Baroes returns to his room, he finds the raw meat he ordered (on covered silver platters, at that), as well as a platter of bread and cheese. The bread is fresh and warm and the cheese rather fancy breeds the ranger has not encountered before.

The two dogs tear into the raw meat with gusto, as hungry as anyone else in the party.

"No worries," Jocelyn says. "But after you are done washing up, would you mind acting as my escort?" she asks. "This is a big city, and for all I know more assassins could be laying in wait for me, but I do need to visit the temple to tell my..boss what exactly is going on."

After taking care of feeding Takit and Hopper, Baeros removes the ring from his hands, wash them, then sits down, shove another chunk of the warm bread to his mouth, stabs a nice portion of the cheese with his knife and slowly lifts it to his nose, sniffing it suspiciously.
With the awful smell he says to himself quiet loudly, "Oeew... this is even worse than Val's smell before shower..." Baeros prepares himself to the worst and takes a small bite of the cheese. Surprised by the wonderful taste he enjoys the meal, remembering to hold his breath every time he takes a bite of the cheese.
After he finishes the food and waiting for the dogs to do the same, Baeros feels still hungry, so he leaves his room and goes to the main hall with his dogs. Only after closing the door he suddenly notice the ring to open the door is not on his finger. 'Darn! I forgot it in the room!' and he hurries to the servers downstairs to explain the situation.

Val answers, "Sure, I want to go look around too, maybe find something to buy." She ducks under again and scrubs her head. Resurfacing she adds, "Maybe a hair cut too." She gets out and collects her clothes and dresses, not even bothering to dry off. "I should go down and see if Mist made it here, she is probably wondering what took us so long."

[Breila]

"It's raining hard outside, but I guess that doesn't bother you" Ouragana tells Val with a smile. "I will go see if I can find the others, we can probably meet in Areilon's suite at nightfall before dinner."

She will knock at everyone's door to find out if that plan is OK with everyone. (Areilon, Jocelyn, Baeros, Andar)
