"On the ground," growls Karlane to the one asking for quarter, adding to her recently Charmed friend, "If he moves, do for him."
Karlane moves silently up to the next nearest hostile, preferably one with it's back to her and tries to whack it with her mace.{OOC: Possibly a Sneak attack, who knows.}

*critical* natural 20: Karlene's mace bludgeoned the dagger-wielding masked man, (-6 hp dmg), stunning him.

The dagger wielder tries to block Idrys, and you frog leaped over him easily enough (parkour) falling to the ground and rolling up before the assembled mob. However, Karlene's lethal attack has softened him up, and he suddenly chocked up blood. He drops his dagger and croaks 'quarter!'

Two of the frantic trident wielders pulled tridents forth and threw them to two nearest Idrys, and they laughed wagging a finger in your direction 'you little bastard! How dare you insult us with that bravado. So you think you're good? Let's just see how tough you really are!'

The first leaped toward Idrys trying to impale him with a brutal impalement, but Idrys sidestepped the predictable attack and countered with a slice of his invisible blade (-5 hp dmg). You twirled your off-hand longsword and dispatched the second trident killing him (-8 hp dmg) feeling more experienced and proficient than you had prior to your training by Lucien.

The rest didn't seem so intimidated as you hoped, but slightly amused at your words. 'This guys clearly lost his mind' one of them laughed uproaringly.

Then, they witnessed his eyes flare crimson red and his eye-teeth prolong, and were gulping in nervousness. 'Holy shit it's a blasted vampire!' one of them hissed.

{OOC: @Spike - Suggestion would be to give the foes numbers. As we have no idea exactly where they are but you do it's hard to follow. I'm inferring the fellow that Karlane just hit was not the one that asked for quarter. But it makes it all slightly less uncertain if it's foe#7 or foe #14 etc. I will up edit this later. I want to give time for Tristen to respond. It'll also give you time to figure out what the other 3, Azonia etc, are doing.}

Is this one:

the same foe as this one:

no sweat, I'll draw out a battle map later on. The dagger-wielder your charmed masked one was fighting was the one, after you struck him that dropped to his knees and begged for mercy.

Basically there's a clear way to the mob, and only two of them are armed while the others are too entwined and scrambling to regain their tridents. So 2 are trying to keep Idrys at bay (but, one is wounded and one dead already at his hands) while the other 13 are trying to regain their tridents. Of this 13, 8 appear to be surprised.

Lucien will guard the alarm lever and double doors
Sarancen is next to Idrys now and guarding his flank
Azonia is going to throw her flying sword into the mob
the charmed masked trident sticks close to Karlene in a protective way, as if your own personal bodyguard
Erodan is inviisble

Idrys will gesture for Sarancen to finish the one Idrys injured (so Idrys can continue om towards the others without provoking an attack of opportunity or backstab) With a wordless roar, Idrys charges towards the backs of the mob scrambling for weapons, slashing and stabbing and driving them into a tighter tangle so they're unable to properly recover and retaliate.

As IDRYS plunged his invisible blade hilt-deep through the back of his first target, the invisible sword point ruptured out of the doomed trident's chest only visible by the outline of warm blood now coating it (17, -10 hp dmg)

Several of the others suddenly surrendered, one by one and dropped to their knees and said 'please! we will worship you as our new master, Lord Vampire. We did not know you were a child of the dark! We are all fresh recruits newly adopted by the shadows! Spare us your fell wrath mighty one!' many of them pleaded and groveled.

Both Karlene and yourself (INT: succeeded) immediately notice that there seems to be one missing in the pack, as if vanished into thin air.

[Ooc: so they have all surrendered?]

Idrys lets the dead one slide from his sword like so much rubbish, paying it no heed as he slings the blood from his blade onto the ground. Then stand away from those weapons, he commands, gesturing to an area clear of weapons or anything they could use as such with his visible sword. Idryi's breathing grew heavy with the scent of so much blood nearby, but he fought the urge to descend into a frenzy. One of you is missing. He said flatly, Whom and where? He pointed the visible sword at the nearest one for an answer.

They comply, and appear to be reverent to your commands as if scared they may displease you in some way.

All have surrendered.

Most of the ones look to eachother and sheepishly shrug, 'we do not know!' they said in earnest.

Be wary, sister. One has vanished. They may be invisible... Looking to the others he says, Remain alert. He looks around, keeping one sword pointed at the mob but searching for any sign of a 'shimmer' or invisible assailant. Are any of you aware of any secret exits to this room?

Leaving a trail of one or two wounded in her path, Karlane says to her newly acquired friend, "Deal with these," indicating the wounded and letting that one turn out as it may.
She advances on the left flank, still skirting the LH wall, intending to brain one of two more of the foes before they re-equip.
The priestess is trying to maintain the left flank so that it doesn't wrap around and encircle Idrys.

A short while later {OOC: presumably a couple of rounds} she hears Idry's warning and then holds her position, back to the wall, looking around for any glimmer of response from the remaining cowed foes, even if some number of them are avoiding looking at a section or wall (that they may know or suspect conceals an exit.)

======
This is in parallel to what Idrys was doing; I hope that's clear enough.

"Right away mistress" the charmed trident said in muffled words beneath his mask, warmly to Karlene, obeying with reverence in his efforts.

After studying the surrendered prisoners faces for any signs of treachery or deception, she finds none but they seem to be in awe and humility before Idrys AND Karlene.

Idrys (vs. INT: 4 succeeded) you noticed while visually surveying the room your eyes closed in on a ventilation shaft, and extended into the shaft where you saw further into the narrow crawlspace a man there, his limbs bent and misshapen as a contortionist only knew how and he was moving fast as a snake in such a way.

Lucien says 'I remember when these halls were filled with the brotherhood, I trained myself here as an adept in life. Learned all the advanced skills of my art. Now these succulent riff raft denigrate the prestige of that honorable order, sullying its glorious heritage. Such disrespect!'

Catching the signal from Idrys about the ventilation shaft {OOC: am making an assumption of IG communication here, whether verbal or just seeing where he's looking; but vagaries of player comms over time zone difference} Karlane moves up to have a look.
If she can see the person snaking away she'll give him a set of magic missiles (from the glove but the others may not know that.) She thinks, ~need to test the power of the glove anyway.~
If she can't see the person snaking away, Karlane will move up to where Lucien is guarding the doors, "I've got this for now. Take care of the fellow in there, if you please," with a slicing gesture across her neck.

If Idrys is free, the priestess beckons him over with a head gesture and indicates the doors for him to take over as guard. She says quietly, for his ears alone, "Thank you, brother. You're so much better at this," with a slight brandishing of her weapon, "than I am. And I think we should both learn a silent battle language."

Karlane turns to the cowed group and moves to within a few feet of them, "Which pair of you have been around this place the longest?"

(She intends to ask Lucien, when he returns, to talk to the pair separately to identify all of the rooms and corridors and so forth that have been constructed since he was in residence and aware of such things. Talking to them separately means they cannot hear each others testimony and cannot confer. The one that reveals the most remains alive; [or both if it's an identical amount.] The other can be Lucien's dinner. She will then ask him for a detailed map, showing all the recent stuff, and accepted with an appreciative, "Thank you.")

While Lucien talks to one or other of the pair, she'll ask the group, "Who else is here but not present in this room? Tell me of them!"

{OOC: @Spike - I think I must have missed something - OK Idrys has intimated that he is vampiric. But why would they be in awe of Karlane? Idrys's use of the word 'sister'? Or..?}

Idrys growls with an almost feral sound towards the shaft, leaping towards the wall and clinging to it. As his sister fires off a set of magic missiles, he climbs up and I to the shaft after the man [spider climb ability] (assuming the volley didn't kill him outright).

===

Sorry to delay the speaking interaction, but he can't risk the man getting reinforcements

Karlene isn't certain, perhaps it's the way she moves about in a fluid, perfect form bereft of human imperfection, or her glass like sharp fingernails, the flesh that looks like liquid marble, and other features that appear somewhat vampiric.

As Karlene gazed into the shaft she saw a hideous, pale faced man who was thin and weak looking slithering through the shaft, his face wore a mocking smile as if gloating at his clever escape (-10 hp magical damage inflicted)

He drew nearer toward the end of it when she outstretched both hands and unleashed the fiery spheres of pulsating cobalt colored fire that blasted into the escaping figure, who grunted as they scorched holes into his unarmored flesh.

Idrys instantly realizes he cannot possibly pursue the man, as the passage is far too tight and he's too heavily laden with armor, equipment, weaponry, etc. Even if he were to strip down he wouldn't be able to manage it.

Lucien nodded, 'As you wish' the spectre disappeared down the shaft and a few moments later, the shaft resonates with the blood curdling death wail of the escaped man. He returned and thanked Karlene, 'that, my dear was the apprentice of Karnak, in disguise. . He had infiltrated this batch of raw recruits, to spy on the activities of his own little helpers.

Two of the elder looking masked trident's stepped forth and began providing detailed information, "A map really isn't necessary, this hideout is not that large. Right through those doors will take you to the Kross wood, and through these double doors are the 'masters' inner sanctum. Beware it is riddled with some traps near an elevator that ascends to the masters meditation chambers'

The second chimned in 'have a pity if you would priestess, some of these fools were seduced into joining these masked killers. Others were forced into it through threat to our families and friends, who would mysteriously disappear never to be seen again. I myself was hoping to find them by joining! We can see you are skilled assassins. What if we paid you a sizable nestegg to put an end to these bastards reign of terror? If you agree, I will tell you a secret none other knows of, not one. One which has kept my family well fed even during these droughted harvest months!'

Sarancen snickered, 'why don't you tell us anyway and get it off your chest, call it a gesture of good will whaddya say'? he withdrew a dagger and unmasked the young man.

Azonia: "Get him to tell us who this 'master' is, my curiosity is piqued" she sheathed her peculiar curved kari-blade.

The charmed trident says 'the master is the boss, he is a skilled fighter and a expert with the trident. He enjoys using poisoned darts in addition to his trident he likes to throw at his enemies and I've seen him manage ten at a time! None know who he truly is, and none have lived long enough to actually find out. He loves only three things: gold, women, and himself. I believe he works for the mage Karnak"

Karlane asks, "Well don, Lucien. Trivial for you, I know, but courtesy costs little and can be worth much." She smilkes another grim smile before adding "How do you know that was Karnak's apprentice? And is knowledge of his purpose here more than an assumption?"

After the conversation with the tridents, Karlane presses, "So just the 'Master'? Or more assistants, people, beasts or creatures?"
She the turns to Azonia, "Please sort out those who volunteered and those who were press ganged."

Finally, to Idrys, "Ready brother? Just you and I?"
