Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Angel swings the axe again, striking the next 'thing' with the blade.
Simple [1d20] = 14
I believe that hit, [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9 damage.
"STEP AWAY!" She shouts.

With support at his side Galanis also strikes the zombies with his knives.

Oh well.... Maybe Galanis should reconsider his work.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
[OOC] There were only three zombie kids and one adult. You've already done for the first two kids. [/OOC]
Ari's maul strikes the last zombie child, a little girl no older than six, just below the collarbone, caving its ribcage in and driving it against the railing. It stands there for a moment, its left arm dangling useless, then slowly turns and steps toward him, reaching out with its one good arm. Its fingers clutch ineffectually against his clothing, not finding any grip, and it snaps its jaws at him, but too far away to make contact.
Angel carefully lines up her swing, striking the adult zombie cleanly with her axe, just below the left eye, shearing off a good chunk of its head. It falls backwards into the room where it lies twitching to the floor. It seems to be trying to rise again, but unable to figure out how.
Galanis finds himself against the railing of the landing, right next to the zombie girl, so close that even using his long knives he cannot manage to swing effectively.
One zombie remains upright - a badly mauled girl child facing Ari, with her back to Galanis, who stands between her and Angel.
[OOC] Actions and rolls, please. And you know what? Let's have initiative from now on. Because even though you're fighting zombies, and you'll always win initiative because they always attack last, it may matter at some point which of you swings first. [/OOC]

One zombie remains upright - a badly mauled girl child facing Ari,
Time ta sleep, lass. Ari says quietly as he swings his maul again

Ari maul vs zombiechild: init, hit, dmg [1d10+10] = 10+10 = 20, [1d20] = 7, [2d4+1] = 5+1 = 6
Lol. Slow as molasses on an arctic christmas

Galanis attacks the zombie girl hoping to finish this nightmare.

Angel swings the axe one more time, hoping to end this nightmare.

[OOC] @ Jen - For future, here's a reminder of how critical hits work in this campaign:
Angel steps forward and strikes at the zombie child clawing at Ari. Her axe splits its skull, dropping it motionless to the ground.
The adult zombie continues to twitch on the floor for a moment, then subsides.
Moot point, anyway, though, because the initial attack was sufficient. [OOC]Stik, in House Rules wrote:Critical Hits:
On a Natural 20, roll damage normally and then make an additional “To Hit” roll. If that roll hits, roll damage again. This does not represent an additional attack but rather that the initial attack has the possibility of doing additional damage.

Ari cleans his weapon and returns to check on Liri, the child and the nursemaid. It's done. Everythin' alright here?
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
Galanis looks at the children bodies horrified. He then goes to collect his scimitar his spirits lower than ever.
Re: Borderlands II - This is the current game thread
"I wouldn't call it »alright«" Liri observes drily. "But it hasn't gotten worse, if that's what you mean."
There's more to me than meets the eye...

Ari nods, Alright compared to fightin' undead children.

*I have never seen such..." Angel curses under her breath and wipes her axe blade clean. "Evil.." returning to the room she averts her gaze from the Feeding woman, hanging by the doorway.

Liri's two charges are quiet now. The infant is still nursing while the woman remains unconscious, although some color has returned to her skin.
Downstairs there is a bit of noise - nothing loud or urgent, just someone walking around, doors opening and closing, that sort of thing.

"We should check that out." Angel suggests hefting the axe once more. "Master Ari, would you be so kind as to aid me?" With that she heads downstairs with a serious expression.

The dwarf nods, preparing shield and warhammer rather than the larger maul as he follows.
